A funny and interesting thing happened to me very recently.

I was with my pup, waiting by the side of the road, when a total stranger came up to say Hi. I was a little cautious, as my pup is easily excitable, and I didn’t want him jumping on her. Much to my surprise, she wasn’t there to say Hi to the pup (most do, so I was expecting them to LOL!) but to me!

She said she had been reading my blog for the longest time, and wanted to take the opportunity to say Hi. It was a bit of a whirlwind meeting, and then she was gone, and I was left with my pup, feeling a little bemused, but brimming with gratitude. I didn’t even get her name, because I was shellshocked haha! 😀

Then a couple of weekends ago, I was in Singapore, at the famed Newton Circus food court, stuffing my face with grilled chicken wings (it’s one of my fave things to eat in Singapore, oddly enough), when I received an Instagram DM just as I was leaving, to ask if I had been there. It must have been a long shot, because no one knew I was down in Singapore, but it was me and she said she ought to have come and said Hi.

Both these incidences left me pondering on the impact we leave on people’s lives, even those we think we’d never meet or have never met.

It then struck me just how long I’d been blogging for – 17 years this past 9 March! 😯

Trying the famed Biologique Recherche Facial in Malaysia to achieve that much touted ‘BR Glow’

There is a facial treatment that people speak of in hushed, reverant tones, much like the brand under which it’s performed. The Biologique Recherche facial is often touted as the gold standard of facial treatments, leaving you with the famed ‘BR glow’ immediately after. It is a treatment sought after by skincare afficionados who pursue and crave that post-facial glow, that leaves you not wanting to wear any makeup, because your skin looks SO. DAMN. GOOD!

Pundits say that the BR facial will leave your skin with an ethereal glow and lifted. In other words, it’s supposed to leave you with skin that looks and feels amazing, better and maybe even younger!

I’d heard so much about the wonders of this facial, and I did try it twice before this. But if I was to be honest, it left me feeling wanting, and I did not share about it then, because it was just “Oh, alright” in my books. I wanted to see that glow that everyone talks about, and while I did experience the post-facial glow that you experience with every facial, there was no long lasting effect. If anything, I found myself breaking out after that. I decided that perhaps it wasn’t for me.

A few years later, now that we have our own Ambassade Biologique Recherche, I was invited to try it again. Let’s give it another go, I figured. If it sucks again, at least I know it isn’t for me, and I can just write it off as one of those contrarian things my skin doesn’t get along with.

About a month ago, I went for the facial, and I don’t know if it was the skill of the therapist, the way the products were used, or simply that my skin appreciated the treatment, I left with skin that was glowing, lifted, rejuvenated, and I had no breakouts!

If this blog is a child, at 16 years, it would be now a young adult, and quite possibly making the questionable decisions that all young adults make, while testing the boundaries of adulthood. Everyone at 16 years old thinks they know everything, that they can conquer the world, and that no one understands them LOL 😛

It struck me a week ago that my blog anniversary had once again, passed me by without my noticing. I checked back, and for the first time in 16 years, I failed last year to commemorate the day this blog was born. There was absolutely no record, and I don’t even know if I remembered it belatedly. What a travesty!

While I’m over a month late, I had to put a note to celebrate this milestone, for being on this ride for so long 🙂

The humidifier: A must-have gadget for keeping dry skin hydrated and comfortable

If you have dry skin, and sleep in an air-conditioned room, have I got a tip for you!

No, it does not involve any new skincare. In fact, it doesn’t even involve any use of special skincare (although I would still use a nightly skincare routine – it’s not a replacement).

I discovered it purely by chance, but it’s one I’m happy to share so you don’t have to suffer dry skin anymore.

What you need is a humidifier 😀
