My Sleep Aids and why sleeping less may be bad for health

June 8, 2010 Paris B 33 Comments

I had a hectic weekend pounding the shopping belt of Singapore and catching up with my sister late into the night so sleep was sacrificed. I got home late Sunday night and had to be up early for work on Monday. Needless to say, my body was aching the whole of Monday (getting older does that to you :P) and I was feeling like a zombie. And then, I open the newspapers on Monday and am confronted with this article about sleep.

In gist, the latest findings are that more sleep may be better for you, because less sleep can kill you earlier 😛 Yet the study balances itself out by saying that too much sleep may be bad too. So the optimum seems to be 6-8 hours of sleep a day. I guess that rules out the Rip van Winkle sleep therapy 😛

I personally think how much sleep you need depends on your own body. I know of people who can function on little sleep because that’s all their body needs to recharge. Perhaps their batteries are the quick charging kind 😛

I on the other hand, need a minimum of 8 hours uninterrupted sleep before I can fully function. The only time I can get by with very little sleep is if the adrenaline is rushing e.g. during exam periods or stressful work times. Otherwise, its 8 hours or be an unproductive zombie the rest of the day. So having mild insomnia really sucks for me! Thankfully, I’ve since worked out 2 products that pages Mr. Sandman to send me on my way to Dreamland pronto!

Les Floralies Earths Organics Salt Scrub – Goodbye Scaly Skin!

April 21, 2010 Paris B 20 Comments

Some products just impress me so much I have to get them right there and then. The Les Floralies Earths Organics Salt Scrub is one of them. I tried it at their counter in Parkson Pavilion and in 5 minutes I was at the counter handing over cash for the tub. It was like I was under a spell. And I was, in the nicest possible way of course 🙂

Les Floralies Earths Organics Salt Scrub

Here’s what sold me. The fact is that this salt scrub need not be washed off. You can apply a thin layer of the salt scrub on your skin, lightly rub it until it melts and falls off (preferably in the shower) and then leave the oils to absorb into your skin which benefits it better than washing it off.

The feeling on my skin is nothing short of A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! When tried at the counter, the back of my hand felt so soft and smooth I had to see if it would make my arms and legs feel that way too. I’d realized that working in an air conditioned office and sleeping in an air conditioned room and being plain lazy about applying body lotion wasn’t doing the skin on my arms and legs any favours. Hello scaly skin!

I’m happy to report that it works just as well on the rest of the body as it did on the back of my hand. Here’s how I use it.

Spent a lovely few hours today learning about the Spent a lovely few hours today learning about the new @omorovicza Queen Essence. A delicious velvety silky textured liquid that absorbs into the skin, boosting its hydration and absorption properties. Your skincare that goes on after that sinks right in to maximise the benefits for your skin. It felt lush! 🥰
Also learnt about the Queen collection with a Cleansing Balm (hello! Did anyone say cleansing balm?!) and Cream and a Night Facial Mist. I have to say I’m most intrigued by the cleansing balm and the mask so I’ll probably have a look at those next time I have the chance 😁
