Yes you can do a full face of makeup in 8 minutes!

March 30, 2011 Paris B 48 Comments

I woke up early one morning, lumbered sleepily to the kitchen to boil water for a cup of coffee… and stepped into a puddle of water. Opening the cupboard under the sink unleashed a torrential waterfall. Apparently there was a leaky pipe dripping water into some pots under the sink, and it had overflowed. So instead of making coffee before I left, and taking time to dress and put on my face, I was left mopping and cleaning up the kitchen for about half an hour, leaving me about 10 minutes to get out the door and to work.

To add insult to injury, I had an early morning start and I had a long day to go so I had to have makeup that would last. Here’s how I got my makeup on in 8 minutes or so, and the products I used (and why I chose to use them) 🙂

what I use for a full face makeup in 8 minutes!

Foundation – Clarins Everlasting Foundation (1) + I Nuovi Illumina Heaven (2) + loose powder (3) + Dior Skinflash (4) – 2 minutes

I chose the Clarins Everlasting foundation because I knew from experience that the medium coverage and long lasting power was what I needed. I added the I Nuovi Illumina to add glow to an otherwise flat foundation. Pumped 1.5 pumps of foundation into my palm, added a squirt of Illumina and applied it to my face quickly. Brushed on some Dior Skinflash concealer/highlighter on the undereye and I looked alive! Puffed some Lavshuca loose powder over to set and I was done in about 2 minutes. Patting on the loose powder helped set the liquid makeup and helped it last.

MWS Christmas Gift Guide & Best of 2009 : Build on a good foundation

Here’s the last of my “Best of 2009” series. You can read the others here.

You may not have perfect skin – few of us do and those who do are the lucky few! So, we fake it with concealer and foundation! There aren’t many I discovered in 2009 but those that worked, worked!

I finally found 2 liquid foundation that worked well for me. I never thought I’d ever extol the virtues of liquid foundation but now I will! The 2 I discovered in 2009 and are keeping as staples are the Lancome Maquiliquide UV Infinite and Diorskin Nude natural glow hydrating foundation. Beautiful textures and keeps skin looking beautiful too!

Review: Makeup: Lavshuca Loose Powder Translucent

February 16, 2009 Paris B 34 Comments

A while ago, I commissioned a tub of Lavshuca’s loose powder in Lucent from Taiwan. There are 2 colours available, Lucent being the translucent one while the other has a pink tone for brightening.

Lavshuca Loose Powder Lucent

Having tried a few Lavshuca products, mainly the eye makeup, I have been far from impressed. Gorgeous Japanese packaging aside, Lavshuca has always managed to underwhelm me once I get my hands on it.

Its an expensive mistake to make too because Lavshuca is presently not available in Malaysia and is only available in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Might we see it come in soon? Its hard to say.

Lavshuca, for the uninitiated, is a drugstore brand under the Kanebo Cosmetics umbrella. They are girly with an edge but put them side by side with Majolica Majorca from Shiseido and I have to say that Majolica Majorca edges Lavshuca out in terms of product quality.

This perception changed however when I’d tried the Lavshuca loose powder. If there is one product that can rival the loose powder of any high end brand, its gotta have to be Lavshuca for me!!

Some Lavshuca Goodies

October 31, 2008 Paris B 12 Comments

Lavshuca is to Kanebo Cosmetics what Majolica Majorca is to Shiseido. Both are low end brands of the 2 Japanese cosmetics giants and found readily in drugstores of Japan and Taiwan. Majolica Majorca has dipped their toes into Malaysian waters and many of you readers have expressed such an interest in the brand, I will not be surprised if Kanebo decides to fight back by bringing in Lavshuca! One can but hope of course 😉

For now, I’ve mainly tested only the Lavshuca single eyeshadows and the Summer Gradually Palette. Between the two brands, I think Majolica Majorca wins in the princess department. But strangely enough, Majolica Majorca has never attracted me as a brand. I’m all for Lavshuca instead, even if my initial forays into the brand weren’t as good as I had expected. Still, its a brand that I keep looking into and that keeps me interested.

When my sister went to Taiwan, I latched on an order of Lavshuca products – the Lavshuca Loose Powder and Lavshuca Powder Blush.
