Facelift in a Bottle: That’s the La Prairie Skin Caviar Liquid Lift promise

January 10, 2013 Paris B 49 Comments

There are luxury brands and then, there are LUXURY brands. La Prairie falls into the latter category. The category talked about in hushed tones of awe, where the brand name is reverently whispered and not shouted in plush surroundings, and where local prices start at 4 digits. Its not something you can run out and say “I think I’ll give this a go” without thinking twice, or multiple times.

Yet, the brand just celebrated its 25th Anniversary last year in 2012 with its caviar standard of skincare. That’s 25 years of people using and supporting the brand, which says something, I’m sure.

la prairie skin caviar liquid lift

In conjunction with its 25th Anniversary, Swiss luxury brand La Prairie introduced the Skin Caviar Liquid Lift Serum. This serum slots in to the already popular caviar range of skincare which is said to derive its skincare benefits from caviar – yes the sturgeon fish eggs so enjoyed by the rich and famous on little hors d’oeuvres that us mere mortals would only savour on the rare and wonderful occasion we choose to splurge on our food.

The serum is supposed to contain the highest quality caviar extract and as the name of the product implies, serves to “lift” the skin, firming and tightening and leaving skin feeling smoother. In the picture above, you will notice that the serum is a milky white emulsion. But it doesn’t come that way. What comes in the bottle is “golden caviar” 😉

New: Estee Lauder Hydrationist, La Prairie Eye Cream, Biotherm Aquasource Skin Perfection, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Happy Saturday Ladies

I have here a couple of new products coming out in July 2010 – looks like July is all about hydration if the new skincare launches are anything to go by 🙂

Estee Lauder Hydrationist Moisture System

Estee Lauder Hydrationist

A new skincare range in the Estee Lauder stables is the Hydrationist moisture system. This line is targeted at delivering moisture to dehydrated skin, one of the first signs of aging. It is  designed to help strengthen the moisture barrier, thereby helping your skin retain moisture better and thus reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Personally, I’m terribly intrigued by this one!

There are 2 products for now – a Moisture Barrier Fortifier (serum) and Maximum Moisturizer (moisturizer).

Estee Lauder Hydrationist Moisture Barrier Fortifier – RM275
Estee Lauder Hydrationist Maximum Moisturizer – RM190

La Prairie Anti Aging Anti Wrinkle Eye Line Filler

La Prairie Anti Aging Anti Wrinkle Eye Line Filler

With all the work our eyes do, and the thin skin around the eye area, its no wonder our eye area develops lines more quickly than anywhere else. La Prairie’s new eye cream claims to help plump up the lines around the eyes and to smoothen the skin around the eye area. Results are supposed to be instantaneous – with a three prong deliver system – plumping, rebuilding and hydrating. Worth a look if you have deep pockets.

La Prairie Anti-Aging Anti-Wrinkle Eye Line Filler – RM485/15ml

La Prairie Platinum Rare Serum and Platinum Cream – A luxurious affair

May 5, 2010 Paris B 30 Comments

Morning ladies!

Today, we shall be ladies of leisure. We shall speak in hushed ladylike tones and dress in lovely day frocks, pearls and sip tea in the garden as ladies do, as I unveil to you the La Prairie Cellular Serum Platinum Rare.

La Prairie Cellular Cream and Serum Platinum Rare

We’ll get the butler to use white kid gloves to handle the precious creams and serums after he pours our Earl Grey tea. Not only is the serum made from one of the most expensive metals in the world, the serum costs RM2,700 – that is not a typo. No, don’t gawk – its not ladylike 😉

La Prairie is at the pinnacle of luxury skincare. A basic cream starts from RM700 so most of us might have only peeped at the counters and scurried along. I know I do. Yet those I met who have used the products swear by it. There must be something there.

The Cellular Platinum Serum Rare is the followup to last year’s iconic launch of the Cellular Cream Platinum Rare. Like all serums, it is a concentrated formula of the best of colloidal Platinum extract and works to maintain the skin’s electrical balance, has anti aging benefits and importantly, seals in moisture and brightens skin with powerful anti oxidants.

An editor of a publication (I forget which) told me after the media launch that she found the La Prairie Platinum cream a lifesaver when she flies because the airplane air is so dry and sometimes, the skin can go crazy from climate changes from country to country. Even SHE was treasuring her sample.

So, wanna know how a RM2,700 serum feels on the skin? I’ll tell you 🙂
