Salon Spy: Kanebo International Salon Starhill Gallery

October 28, 2010 Paris B 11 Comments

Time for some pampering! I’m no stranger to the Kanebo International Salon. I’ve been going to the one in Bangsar for years – as does my whole family 🙂

However I’d never tried the services at the more upmarket Starhill Gallery salon. It might interest you to know that the prices of services are the same but the salon is a midge more plush as befits the luxury mall.

I was there to learn about the upcoming Kanebo Impress Gramula premium skincare range and I had a facial too.

The facial treatment started with peach tea and dried apricots as I’m used to at Bangsar. However there is an added bonus of a hot foot soak which does wonders to relax the mind and body.

How to treat pigmentation after going out in the sun

August 18, 2009 Paris B 27 Comments

paintball

I recently had a fun outing with Connie at a paintball park. The lass managed to get herself through the whole day without getting a single bruise! I on the other hand, had a couple of trophies to show 🙂 It was fun anyway and I’m game for another session 😀

However, playing paintball meant I was out in the sun at one of the worst times of the day – around noon. I did slather on my sunblock (I specifically used sunblock with zinc oxide for this) but I did find my skin pigmentation getting a little darker a couple of days later. Distressing.

I was recently given some advise to help combat the pigmentation that flares up after a day in the sun; and I’ve tried it and found that it works. So, I’d like to share it 🙂

I was told that after a session in the sun, I should immediately or as soon as I can when I get back, apply a whitening / brightening serum and a cool mask on the face. This helps calm the skin down and prevents/stops the melanin from working overtime. I’m no dermatologist but I tried it and it worked for me.

Will you save on your skincare?

March 10, 2009 Paris B 43 Comments

Gloomy times are ahead in the financial sector. For those of us with jobs to keep, I reckon we are holding on as best we can while trying to find a better wat to spend our hard earned money.

But will you save on your skincare?

Will you save on skincare?

These are my thoughts and I’d love to hear yours so do share in the comments below.

I personally will not save on my skincare.

Skin Care is very personal and individual to your skin

The main reason is that skincare is something I don’t mess around with (unless I’m testing a product for a review). At the end of the day, unless I find something cheaper that works as well as the item I’m using, I will not switch. I believe most people are the same.

Review: Kanebo Eye Makeup Remover

January 1, 2009 Paris B 23 Comments

Happy New Year 2009! If you partied hard last night, or maybe just partied 🙂 , I hope you all remembered to remove all your makeup before going to bed. After some last minute planning, I had a blast last evening with a new friend, Kahani of Soloverly at The Curve. Yes, it was fun 🙂

I used to use cleansing oils to remove all my makeup every evening just before my shower and when I say all, I mean ALL including eye makeup. It was as a result of 2 things : (1) running out of eye makeup remover and (2) laziness 😛

However, I’ve recently been told that its not a good idea to use just cleansing oils to remove eye makeup, because the skin around the eye is very thin and delicate. When you use oil on the eye area you have to massage it to remove all the makeup and stubborn mascara and this might result in premature wrinkles and lines around the eyes. Also, cleansing oils might contribute to milia or oil seeds around the eye area.

Since I’m vain 😛 I decided to pick up an eye makeup remover and after my facial at my regular Kanebo International salon one evening, I spotted the Kanebo Eye Makeup Remover.

Kanebo Eye Makeup Remover

The Kanebo Eye Makeup Remover comes in a cute squat square blue-green bottle that’s slightly opaque. You will notice that there are 2 layers of liquid in the bottle. This is an oil based remover to help remove the most stubborn of makeup.
