Bat those false eyelashes!

March 11, 2009 Paris B 23 Comments

Ever since my first experience with false eyelashes, I’ve been wanting to try wearing them again. However, I’ve failed at every turn to put on the Shu Uemura pair I had from my first and last experience. So, what did I do? I turned to I Nuovi since I’d been told that their false eyelashes are bestseller items.

I decided to try the I Nuovi Pro Lash 05 (RM20) in a very simple fuss free design. The reason I picked these was because they are not a full lash as you can see, but only about three quarters of a lash. This way, I don’t have to trim the lash to fit my eye, yet I’ll get a nice effect of long curled lashes at the corners!

The set I had comes with 4 lashes (RM5 each only!) and a little tube of glue. This is so useful for people like me who don’t have any eyelash glue to start with! The glue is sealed and you have to poke a hole in it yourself, but its not a bother. The only thing I might have to suggest an improvement on is to have a pointed end to the applicator. It makes application of glue easier and less messy.

I Nuovi Professional Makeup Overview

February 10, 2009 Paris B

A few years ago when I was really REALLY into colour cosmetics and would trawl SaSa stores like it was my crack, one Asian brand used to catch my eye – I Nuovi. Did you know it was Asian? I wasn’t sure then, but I later learnt it was a brand from Singapore with products manufactured in Italy, hence the Italian name which means “The New”.

If there is one thing that really stood out in my memory of I Nuovi makeup, it was the eyeshadow colours D27 (RM48). I used to own a whole palette of them in an array of colours but I gave them away later.

I Nuovi made some of the nicest most pigmented shimmery eyeshadows I’d experienced. They do colours with less shimmer too but to me, their shimmer colours stand out for 2 reasons:-

  • they are seriously pigmented; and
  • they stick on your skin without falling all over the place

It was like cult status because those of us in Asia would rave about them and other people elsewhere could not get hold of them (then). They can now at selected locations, or they can get them online at I Nuovi. The best part of course is that I Nuovi eyeshadow pans fit snugly into MAC round palettes – yes they are the same size!

Sadly, I react a little to I Nuovi eyeshadows 🙁 It was the same reaction I get to Shu Uemura and Shiseido eyeshadows – nothing serious, except that I’d feel seriously sleepy. No one else I know seems to react so maybe its just me. I can use them over a cream base though which is what I do. But the colours are absolutely gorgeous! Just look at the swatches above (swatched just once). If anything, the quality seems to be even better now than before. The green seems a little powdery compared to the others though.

I did test out a couple of other products from I Nuovi which stood out to me. Read on for 2 spotlighted products I liked.

Review: Makeup: I Nuovi Metallogy Metallic Liquid Liner

February 6, 2009 Paris B 13 Comments

When I received the new I Nuovi Metallogy Metallic Liquid Liner, I was quite hesitant to try it. I’ve NEVER had a good experience with liquid liner which explains why you never read about it here. I just have no idea how on earth to use it!

I Nuovi Metallogy Liquid Eyeliner

Anyway, to challenge myself, I took it with me on my Chinese New Year holiday and it was the only eye liner I took. Imagine if I botched up – I’d have to redo my eyes every single time! (I did too 😛 )

The I Nuovi metallic liquid liner comes in a little tube with a long pointed handle. I used to wonder why liquid liners came with such long covers – now I know. Its so you have a better grip while lining your eyes. I’d prop my hand on my cheek and angle the brush on its side to draw a quick line and it worked for me.

The applicator is a thin firm pointed brush and when you pull it out of the tube, it tends to “stick” a little, rather like mascara does. So if you aren’t careful, you can spatter some liquid on your hand but its not all that drastic as I make it out to be.
