Orange you glad I found a stablized Vitamin C serum in the Hylamide C25 Booster?

May 13, 2016 Paris B 29 Comments

When I decided to delve into the world of Hylamide, it was because of the SubQ Anti-Age serum that was so highly raved. Personally though, I didn’t notice significant enough results to join in the raves, even though I do think that it’s a decent product.

When I made my order though, I wanted to get something else – since I was shipping the serum all the way from Canada, I might as well ship something else along with it! And that something was the Hylamide C25 Booster Stabilized Vitamin C Booster serum.

hylamide c25 booster vitamin c serum

I didn’t come across many reviews for it at the time. Perhaps it was new (about 6 months back or so) but I was curious, as I’d just been told by a friend about how effective using vitamin c had been for brightening and clarifying her complexion. The thing about Vitamin C though, is that it is quite unstable, so oxidises quite quickly, nullifying it’s antioxidant properties.

This Hylamide C25 Booster however, claimed to be a stabilized version of a vitamin C, which allows them to package it into a clear bottle (most products that contain vitamin c come in brown/dark bottles), and to not oxidise, therefore keeping it effective. The key ingredient here is 25% Etyhyl Ascorbic Acid that’s stabilized, and the ingredient list that you’ll see below is impressively short!

Above all, I think this an excellent product, and in the big scheme of serums, it’s not wallet-bustingly expensive! 🙂

Save & Splurge: Boost skin hydration for better skin with these Hydrating Serums

March 23, 2016 Paris B 7 Comments

If you didn’t already know, I’m a great proponent of adhering to a skincare routine that’s strong on hydration. Many of us have dehydrated skin without our realising it, primarily I feel, due to our lifestyles and age. From personal experience, if you treat this problem of dehydrated skin, you are already one step closer to better skin.

save and splurge on the best hydrating serums

One of the things I like using in my skincare routine therefore, is a hydrating serum. These serums usually contain high concentrations of hyaluronic acid in various forms, that help boost skin hydration, while maintaining those hydration levels by attracting and holding moisture from other products you use. Well hydrated skin will naturally look plumper and smoother, and this will also strengthen the natural skin barrier, so your skin looks and feels softer and smoother and better.

In recent times, I’ve come across a few hydrating serums that work fairly well, and which conveniently fall in different ends of the price spectrum. What better time then, to share my Save and Splurge picks with you! 🙂

Caving in to hype to try the highly raved Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Serum

March 10, 2016 Paris B 14 Comments

This was another product I caved in to, due to the online explosion of hype some time last year. For a short few months, I couldn’t move without bumping into one person or another showing, mentioning or reviewing the Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Serum and various other serums by Hylamide and under the Deciem umbrella brand. The first one I came across was from my Canadian friend, Tracy (who loves it), and I kept stumbling over it thereafter.

So one day, when I caught a discount code floating around online, I bit the bullet to see what the fuss was about.

hylamide subq anti-age serum

Deciem is a brand from Canada, that houses a few different brands under its umbrella. I’d previously mentioned having tried the Fountain beauty drink, which is also a brand under Deciem. Hylamide is however, I think the more well known range.

From the name, you can kind of imagine that the key ingredient will be our old friend, hyaluronic acid, which most of us know by now, address skin dryness and dehydration. The difference is that this claims to have 5 forms of hyaluronic acid compounds of different molecular weights so it targets dryness, dehydration more effectively and plumps up fine lines. In addition, it contains peptides to boost collagen production (which plumps up the skin) and a form of retinol that promises effects of retinol without irritation.

It’s a very science-heavy product, with lots of ingredients that are beneficial to the skin, in one easy to use package. I’m a huge fan of anything that promises intense hydration and has anti-aging benefits so I was all over this! I also tell you if it lives up to my other Hall of Fame hydrating serum! 😀
