Laneige Water Bank Skincare: Banking on water to moisten and hydrate skin

When I last went off to the beach, I took with me a range of skincare for hydration. It was a range of products I’d been using at the time, and to my surprise, I’ve become quite devoted to 2 of the products. I’m almost halfway though the bottles which is why I figured I’d better tell you about them before all I have to show are empty ones 🙂

The products in question are from the Laneige Water Bank range which is targeted at hydration. This is one of Laneige’s bestselling ranges but when I first tried it two years back, I wasn’t terribly impressed. It was only when I picked up a bottle of the Emulsion meant for normal to dry skin in Korea, that I actually found myself liking it. Moral of the story, don’t write off a product at first go because skin can change 😉

I will tell you about 3 products today from the Water Bank range, but I will tell you here that I only like 2 of them. The other one, you could easily do without since I can 😛 Please feel free to let me know if you disagree though.

I can’t decide if the Laneige Water Bank Mineral Skin Mist is a Hit or a Mist for a hot day

Mist = Miss = Me trying to be funny when I’m really not.

When the weather is hot or drying, like Summer time or when we encounter a heat wave here, I like to keep a little bottle of facial mist in my bag. It freshens me up and helps my skin not dry out. I also like to take it on holiday, because I tend to walk around a lot especially if I’m in a new place so a face mist helps me cool down or sometimes when water is scarce, allows me to wash my fingers too! Bet you didn’t think of that last one 😉

I’m not quite sure though if the Laneige Water Bank Mineral Skin Mist is a similar sort of product as the spray cans I’m used to. It comes in a translucent light blue plastic bottle with a spray mechanism that sprays out a fine mist. There are pros to this, because an aerosol can is compressed air and is liable to explode. Not kidding! Also, I’m not sure if some airlines allow them on board. A spray bottle however doesn’t have a danger of exploding if the pressure increases or if its too hot, and it isn’t filled with air, so perhaps it might even be a more economical item to use.

I took this mist with me on my recent beach break to see how it would fare in a hot, windy, drying environment. Dipping in and out of a pool dries out the skin and sea air is surprisingly very drying! Must be all that salt 😛 So what better time to test out a hydrating product 😀

I was clearing out my skincare products over last weekend, tossing out expired products and rearranging the ones I am using most regularly. Have you done so? If you haven’t, it’s a good idea to take stock once in a while, especially if you have a few opened products. Sometimes, products may expire before you realize it as I learnt to my detriment. A nice cream looked like curdled milk so even though it smelt ok, I wasn’t putting it anywhere near my face 😛

It was then that I realized that I’m about halfway through bottle #2 of my Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate!  The dark bottle makes it hard to notice the dropping levels. It’s been about 2 years now since its been out ans as you can tell, it lasts and lasts… Have you used it? Here’s a few ways I like to use the MRC – one of the very few staples in my skincare routine 🙂

Fine-tune your skin with the RMK Skintuner Brightening Moist er… lotion? Moisturizer? Serum?

Before I start, let me say this. I don’t know what to call the RMK Skintuner. Is it a lotion? It sure feels and looks like one. Is it a moisturizer? It doesn’t remotely look like it! But it does a lovely job at keeping my skin plumped and moist. What is it?

I dug around a bit for information and according to the RMK website, the concept behind the Skintuner is a bit of an all rounder product. It is regenerative, moisturizing, self-plumping and refining. It contains beta catotene and royal jelly extract to drench the hyaluronic acid within our skin so you have smoother more polished skin. Sounds complex but here’s the deal. Its super easy to use once you get the hang of it, and if you don’t have very dry skin, this one bottle might be all you need!
