The Hourglass Ambient Powder Brush is the only makeup brush I use every single day – but not for powder!

June 25, 2018 Paris B 10 Comments

I’ve been wanting to tell you about one of my most-used and favourite brushes for a while – the Hourglass Ambient Powder Brush. Despite its name, I don’t use it for powder nor for what Hourglass intended it for. Instead, it’s a brush that has helped me appreciate wearing bronzer or what I prefer to call a complexion-warming powder.

I shared once before about how I had finally learnt to appreciate wearing a bronzing powder and I shared the brushes I was using. But I realized that those brushes were still a little too precise for me. I decided that I don’t wear bronzer to contour – I wear it to add a touch of warmth to my skin, because I find I look better that way.

Enter then the Hourglass Ambient Powder brush. You can see how worn away the print is on mine – it’s because I use it practically everyday! Or every day that I wear makeup. Even on days when all I wear is a light tinted base, a touch of complexion warming powders help me look a whole lot better.

I was first introduced to this brush by Sophia of Makeup Blogette on Instagram. When I watched her doing her makeup in videos, she used to use this brush, and I was intrigued. More so by the size, shape and lack of handle! So one day, I gave in to my curiousity and picked one up.

8 Things I’m really enjoying using that I think you will love too – Just in time for ‘ang pow’ spending!

February 14, 2018 Paris B 15 Comments

I am going to be trite and say this “I cannot believe that we are halfway through February 2018!” Is it me, or is 2018 flying by a little too quickly for comfort? Slow down! I want to cry. And I guess I will have some time to slow down soon, with the Lunar New Year festivities upon us.

This year, the barking Dog chases the Rooster out of our home, and I will be taking a few days off, as I do at this time of year, to celebrate the festivities and spend time at home with the family. Incidentally, if you want to stay in touch with blog posts, you can sign up here for a weekly email that goes out with a compilation of that week’s blog posts, so you don’t have to miss out on any future posts!

But before I leave you for the festivities, I wanted to quickly share some things I’ve been loving, that I think you might love too! Or at least, some things you can save your ang pow money for 😀 I’ve made sure that they’re (mostly) permanent products because I despise the limited edition push to buy NOW, as much as anyone else.

There are a couple of items that I may elaborate on in future review (holler, if there is one you want to see in greater depth!) but I wanted to make sure I told you about these things, some of which I’ve been using for months now, and thoroughly loving to bits! 😀

I was so moved by the Chanel Codes Subtils eyeshadow palette, I did a FOTD post!

February 23, 2017 Paris B 10 Comments

Truth to tell, I haven’t been very excited about many new makeup items for a while. But for some reason, this, rather unassuming, eyeshadow palette from Chanel grabbed my attention. It is the Codes Subtils 278 Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow Quad (RM230 | US$61), and it is part of the Coco Codes collection for Spring 2017 and is, rather unfortunately, limited edition.

I managed to hunt down one very recently (it was sold out when I first wanted it, but if you call around, you may still be able to find one) and I just knew that I’d have to give it a very quick shout out, because if you love neutral eyeshadow with just a hint of smokiness, you will be head-over-heels for this one.

Like all the post-2014 Chanel Les 4 Ombre eyeshadow palettes, the quality is sublime. The texture is soft, pigmented and easy to blend without fall out. The shimmer is understated and flattering, and the colours are rich (or as rich as they can be). Like Poesie, I can see myself wearing this nearly everyday and if I were the sort to hoard back-ups, this is a palette I’d have multiple back-ups of.

I suppose you could say that I love it! 😛 I don’t have a lot to say without gushing, so I’ll be sharing a quick look I did to show you why I love this palette so much.

Your Say: What is your preferred brow product? Here are some I use

December 14, 2016 Paris B 29 Comments

Hello, friends! Is anyone actually up and about, and raring to go after that lovely long weekend we had here in Malaysia? LOL Well, even if you aren’t, there’s the coming long Christmas weekend to look forward to next week!

I was messing about during the weekend (as you do), and I had a thought – What is your preferred product to use when doing your brows?

brow products

You know me – things like this make me curious, because there are so many brow products out there! There are pencils that you sharpen, retractable pencils, angled pencils, brow mascara, brow pomade…. I honestly never thought there were that many!

I’ve been experimenting with the famed Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade recently, and I’ll share my thoughts on it, alongside telling you if it’s my favourite brow product … and if it isn’t, what is 🙂 Naturally, I’m curious what’s your pick!
