The MWS Cleansing Balm Repository : All the cleansing balms I’ve tried

January 2, 2014 Paris B 50 Comments

While I haven’t been using cleansing balms very long, since I only just discovered them towards the end of 2013, I’ve tried quite a few already and rather than starting my repository late, the way I did my cleansing oil repository, I thought I’d start it and then leave it open for me to add on as I go on my cleansing balm journey.

I already have a few lined up to try but I’m being very good and trying my best to finish up one (or at least get through a significant amount) before I start another, so this is a post in progress, and will be updated as I go along. So, it’s probably a good one to keep an eye on and bookmark and ask questions etc because I’ll keep the topic open for discussion 🙂

So here you will find the cleansing balms I’ve tried so far. I’ll link to all the individual reviews as they go up and there’ll be a short blurb here on how I liked it or if I didn’t. Not everything in the photo above is featured right now, but it will be as I go along 🙂

So if you have been curious about cleansing balms and which I like or dislike or if you have a question, then this is probably the post you’re looking for.

Packing skincare for a cold Spring/Winter climate when you come from the tropics

May 16, 2013 Paris B 34 Comments

cold weather holiday skincare

When I recently went away on vacation, it was to a country in the Northern Hemisphere which had just broken through a particularly long winter, and Spring was just in the air. That wasn’t quite what the weather report for Prague told me when I checked before I left. I had reports of weather in the teens and wide ranges of temperature of 25° – 6°C … in one day! I wasn’t upset – no sirree! It meant I could drag out my boots and tights and coats! Whee! 😀

But as I packed my cosmetic pouch, I knew I had to make a bit of allowance for this sort of temperatures and weather. Coming from the tropics, I’m used to  warm and importantly, humid weather for most of the day, everyday. Light textured products like gels or gel creams are preferable for comfort. But from experience, I knew that weather in Europe was not only colder, it was also drier and creams generally work better there.

So when I packed my pouch, I made sure I bore this in mind. I thought I’d share what I packed, because I’ve had people ask me before this what they should pack for a holiday to a colder climate, and also because I know many of you will travel at some point and may wonder if you should compensate for your skincare or if you can carry your own 🙂

Eve Lom Rescue Mask: Not just a clay mask and exfoliator but an emergency quick fix eye mask too!

April 4, 2013 Paris B 29 Comments

eve lom rescue mask

A while ago, I told you about the Eve Lom Cleanser and how its supposed to be the best cleanser in the world. Its not a bad product, but a bit fiddly. I love to carry it with me when I travel though because it works as an all in one makeup remover and cleanser and I like that ease of use when I’m on the road. At home, I prefer using separate products.

But we aren’t here to rehash the cleanser, but to talk about the Eve Lom Rescue Mask. This is another product I’ve tried when I picked up a trial kit once, and its a product that Eve Lom is known for. What it is, is a clay mask and I think opinions are a little divided on this one. Some people love it, some hate it but that’s how it goes with skincare. Can’t please everyone!

I think its a nice mask to use for weekly deep cleansing. I am always a little wary about using clay masks because I have dry skin but I’m happy to report that this one isn’t drying which is why I give it some props. Its a pricey little thing so what do I think of it?

What’s in my makeup and skincare pouch? The Beach Holiday Edition

July 17, 2012 Paris B 54 Comments

Ladies! I’m just back from a relaxing holiday by the beach and am only just starting to get back into the swing of things. You know, holidays are both a bane and a boon. I’m thankful for them for recharging and yet, you know that post-holiday slump we all fall into? Yeah I’m in that slump now. I hope you’ve had lots to read here on MWS to keep you occupied over the past few days while I get back on the bandwagon and on track 🙂

So since I had nothing planned for today’s post, here, have a peek at what I took with my on my short holiday by the sea where I pretty much did nothing but sit on the beach, soak up some sun, stuff my face silly with food and just generally relax 🙂
