Soothing sensitive skin and scalp with homegrown certified organic brand – Esmeria Soothing Organics

June 3, 2016 Paris B 5 Comments

A while back, I was asked a question about whether I was shifting towards using more natural or organic skincare products. Truthfully, no. I’m not about to make that shift although I know it’s the “in thing” right now to do. I just use whatever I like, as long as I’m comfortable using it.

Occasionally however, I’m reminded that organic products exist, and when they are a local brand that is easily available at pharmacies or online, I look a little more kindly on them. I like supporting the local beauty industry, when they make something I can get behind; not just pick up an OEM product from some beautyexpo or Alibaba, slap on some terrible, pretentious sounding name on a label and try to push it as a local product at a high mark up. I can smell bullshit like this from a mile away because it’s what I see in 80% of the pitches I receive.

Esmeria however, is a brand I’ve featured a few times before this. I thought they were pretty decent, for their facial skincare, and they are a local company, and impressively, have EcoCert – which makes them a certified organic brand. They were kind of aggressive for a while quite a few years ago, but then they disappeared off my radar, and from what I could tell, off the beauty scene. But what I’ve learned is that in that interim, they revamped their packaging and released a range of hair and body products under the name of Esmeria Soothing Organics.

If I have one thing I’d note about the brand, is that it’s too inconsistent to have some products called Esmeria Organics and some called Esmeria Soothing Organics. Something tells me they have to get their house in order on that front. But when they asked if I wanted to give these a go, I said, Oh alright. Let’s take a look because I don’t have sensitive skin, but I wanted to see if I had any luck with their shampoo. I don’t have a lot of luck with organic brand hair care for some reason. They tend to feel too “mild”.

Puffy Eyes Begone! The New Esmeria Organics Eye Gel Does A Fine Job

November 17, 2011 Paris B 23 Comments

Sometimes when I read these claims by cosmetics companies that say “80% of women experienced lifting effects on their skin” and I wonder to myself. Who on earth are these 80% of women?? Me, as it turns out LOL! I found out how recently when I was invited to try the new Esmeria Organics Ultimate 5-effect Eye Gel… in a lab test form! 😀

For some reason, I was unnaturally thrilled to be handed a plain white tube with a working name on it instead of an actual product. Little things like this thrill me 😛 It is also very useful that Esmeria Organics is a certified organic homegrown brand and so access to the brand is much easier than it was say, based in Europe.

The product I received was already almost ready to be marketed so it wasn’t like I was a real guinea pig or anything like that. This was about 2 months ago or so. And now, the eye gel is available in the market in 2 formula – the Ultimate 5-effect eye gel for all skin types and the Ultimate 5-Repair Eye Gel for mature skin, depending on your concerns.Continue Reading

Tip: Dry Skin Woes and How I Cured Mine

April 26, 2011 Paris B 53 Comments

Whenever people ask if I have sensitive skin, it always gives me pause. Do I say yes if my facial skin can tolerate quite a lot but the skin on some other parts of my body can’t?

dry skin on my hands and how I cure it

You see, I don’t have sensitive skin anywhere else on my body except for my hands. Its something I noticed and paid attention to in the last few years and I’ve traced my “allergy/sensitivity” to:-

  • harsh detergents – no washing up for me without gloves
  • certain chemicals – yet unknown which but usually in body washes, shampoos or face cleansing gels
  • certain organic products – depending on concentration of ingredients
  • prolonged contact with paper – work hazard

What happens in my case is nothing very serious from a health standpoint. However, its terribly serious from a aesthetics and comfort standpoint.

For me, if I come into contact with any of the above, within 2 days max (except for paper), the skin on my hands start to harden, dry out and peel. And its serious chronic continuous peeling. As long as I’m exposed to the item, it will continue. its so bad my hands look like that of a burn victim. And it does not recover as quickly even after I stop contact with the offending product.

I recently had a very bad bout – I have not yet been able to trace it to the particular product – where I had one of the worst ever reactions. I really should have taken a picture but I was spending too much time trying to cure it so all you have is a picture of my finger as shown above. Multiply that by 5 and include the palm and you get the general idea. Better this way. I don’t spoil your breakfast/lunch 😉

Using hand creams don’t help in my case. They alleviate the discomfort for a short while but then it comes back. That leads me to believe that many hand creams out there only work on the surface. They do not help “cure” a dry skin problem, no matter what they claim. Didn’t stop me however, and I did find a combination that helped me cure my problem! I’ve shared below some of those I tried and what eventually helped me.

Esmeria Organics Butterfly Bush Frequent Use Shampoo and Conditioner does not beat about the bush

April 21, 2011 Paris B 23 Comments

When I met the Marketing Director of Esmeria Organics, Jonathan Horsley, I mentioned to him how I’ve never really liked an organic shampoo because they make my hair feel weird. My hair always feels weighed down and greasy after prolonged use. That was when he threw down the gauntlet. He told me to use their popular Esmeria Organics Shampoo and see how I liked it. There was one caveat, which was that I had to use it for at least 2 weeks straight and give my hair time to “detox” itself from the usual silicones and sulfates found in regular shampoos. Always up for a challenge, I accepted it 😀

The Esmeria Organic Butterfly Bush Frequent Use Shampoo and Conditioner is part of the new Esmeria Organics skincare line – the first Malaysian brand to be EcoCert certified. Its always nice to know of local brands that make good, and you would have read my thoughts on their organic skincare line too 🙂

So, coming back to the shampoo and conditioner. The Butterfly Bush Frequent Use shampoo and conditioner is for those who wash their hair frequently i.e. me 😛 I wash my hair everyday. Let me tell you what I thought of this shampoo and conditioner after using it for a while.Continue Reading
