Coffret D’or vs Lunasol eyeshadow palettes

March 31, 2008 Paris B 7 Comments

I had Shirley ask me in a comment below how Coffret D’or compared to Lunasol and what were the differences between the two. My simple answer at the time was that they were 2 totally different brands and therefore 2 very different products.

lunasol coffret d'or

I only have the eyeshadow palettes to compare so I will compare these two. I have reviewed the Lunasol and Coffret D’or palettes separately so you might want to read my thoughts on each palette there. This will be a purely comparison post. Kanebo Coffret D’or in Malaysia : A brief overview

March 15, 2008 Paris B 4 Comments

After a long wait since November 2007, I got news that Kanebo’s new makeup line Coffret D’or has finally reached Malaysia! I finally had the time to check it out and overall, I’d say its all pretty good!

I sneaked a picture of the Coffret D’or product testers at the counter when the sales assistants were not looking. Naughty of me, but I just had to get it hehe…

These are all the Coffret D’or products for now. As Coffret D’or is still so new, I’m told that they will be sold side by side with whatever is remaining of T’estimo. The Coffret D’or foundation and base makeup isn’t available here yet so Revue will continue to fill this niche.

Coffret D’or eyeshadows (RM120) are only available in palettes for now. There are 5 palettes and I own 02 Fresh – the blue-green one. There is a brief run down of the other 4 palettes and more reviews of products after the jump.Continue Reading

Review: Makeup: Kanebo Coffret D’or 3D Lighting Eyes Eyeshadow palette

January 28, 2008 Paris B 13 Comments

This is my review of the Kanebo Coffret D’or eyeshadow palette with color swatches. Coffret D’or is a new line of cosmetics launched by Kanebo to replace T’estimo and Revue. Coffret D’or will have base makeup and colour or point makeup which is more comprehensive when taken in totality than when taken separately.

I tried making enquiries here in Malaysia about when Coffret D’or would be brought in but got no positive response. So, I decided to purchase the Coffret D’or 3D Lighting Eyes palette online to see if I’d like it. This is Coffret D’or’s first eyeshadow colour (there are no singles at this time).

I went for 02 – Fresh. It is a blue-y palette and grabbed my attention more than the other colours. I felt that the other colours looked a bit too boring or were colours I can’t wear.

And here’s my review on the Coffret D’or 3D Lighting Eyes palette.

New Kanebo makeup line – Coffret D’or

November 28, 2007 Paris B 3 Comments

Ever since I’d heard of Kanebo discontinuing their T’estimo makeup line, I’d been upset because T’estimo is one of my favourite cosmetic lines. Its now replaced by a new line called Coffret D’or which I would believe is presently available in Japan and maybe later in the rest of the world.

Here are some pictures lifted off the Coffret D’or website which I was alerted to after reading PJ’s writeup on A Touch of Blusher:

Eyeshadow palettes

The case reminds me of Lunasol (another Kanebo brand) but the layout of the eyeshadows remind me very much of Maquillage by Shiseido or even Kate by Kanebo. Even the colour combinations are quite similar to those in both those brands. I wonder what the texture will be like because they look silky and shimmery and the white bit must be a highlighter. There are no pictures of single eyeshadow yet so those might be on the way.

Blush

The blushes look like those from Shu Uemura and the previous ones from T’estimo, in that they come in a simple plastic case which I believe you can then depot into a proper compact. The blush colour don’t look very exciting but I do not own any T’estimo blushes anyway simply because they weren’t very exciting.

This appears to be the compact that houses the blushes. I can’t read Japanese but I assumed so because the brush that is included looks like a blush brush.

Lipsticks

coffretdor3

I love T’estimo lipsticks because they are smooth, glossy and not drying. They do tend to be on the slightly sheer side as are most Japanese brand lipsticks, but I’m not complaining. Again, the lipstick packaging reminds me of the Lunasol Intellectual Lips lipstick but the colours look a bit more exciting.

From what I see of this line, I think Kanebo seems to be moving away from the young image that T’estimo used to serve, rather like when Shiseido launched Maquillage to replace PN (Pied Nus). I’m guessing here, but since Kanebo already has Kate and Media in their stable to serve the young they are now targetting working women in their mid to late 20’s and 30’s who want something more grown up and who can afford something a little more expensive/exclusive.

I can’t wait till Coffret D’or gets here so I can play with them!
