Riding a Coach into Fall/Winter 2014 with the introduction of The Rhyder bag

September 28, 2014 Paris B 22 Comments

Last year, Coach introduced a new bag – the Borough Bag – as part of their line up and that was quite a success, it seems. The sleek clean lines of the bag was reflective of Coach’s heritage and it was well received. This year, Coach welcomes a new designer, Stuart Vevers, who has taken a bold, and some might say, refreshing step away from the clean lines Coach is known for, and giving it an edge.

A new star bag is also introduced, the Rhyder bag, which is edgy, young and yet, will appeal to those who want a fairly affordable, embellished satchel type bag. While the Rhyder bag does get my attention somewhat, I can’t honestly say that the rest of the Fall/Winter 2014 collection was my style.

Stuart Vevers, had drawn his inspiration for his inaugural collection for Coach, from Americana it seems. I’m seeing a lot of Wild West influence, as well as some native American touches which are noticeable in the clothing and the accessories. I’d safely say that Americana isn’t my style, but since I’m not much into fashionable clothes and because I know my bags better than any other fashion accessory, let me show you some of the new bags from Coach, along with how they’d look when worn 😀

Introducing the new Coach bag : The Borough and a peek into Coach Fall and Holiday 2013

September 1, 2013 Paris B 20 Comments

Hot off the presses is this bit of news of a new bag design coming out from Coach, scheduled to be released in Fall. What this means for us here in this season-less country, is that we should expect to see this one pop up in stores from Oct/Nov 2013. It is a new design and a new addition to Coach’s permanent range.

They call it – The Borough.

I actually thought “The Borough” sounded very English, which is quite removed from Coach’s cosmopolitan, American vibe. Unlike some of the frills and flounces we’ve been seeing (The new designs now sport a very large tassel) The Borough looks almost… plain.

And yet, it is the plainness that drew me to it. I liked the sleek, clean lines, the quiet understated elegance, the city chic and the tiny logo. With The Borough, you wear the bag – the bag and brand doesn’t wear you. And I like that!

Coach Legacy Collection : Back to Basics and looking good while at it!

August 5, 2012 Paris B 47 Comments

Coach is one of those brands I would call “affordable luxury”. I know many people these days give a little sniff whenever they see Coach thanks to their marketing schemes of coming out with a new collection nearly every month (and some quite gaudy ones at that) and the blatant pirated knock offs of the signature collection. I do too sometimes 😛

But I’ve always had a soft spot for Coach. It was the first ever “luxury item” I bought. It was a red leather duffle bag that has been attacked and saved from mould and which is now being cared for by my SiL 🙂 She is now quite “with it”! 😀 My next one was a yellow messenger type bag that could be worn on the shoulder or cross body. So when I saw the new Coach Legacy collection in the store window, I could not help a little squeal of delight.

Coach has brought back their Legacy collection! I used to think, and I still do, that Coach’s soft calf leather products are very decent and they hold up very well with wear. If anything, they look better with age. Seriously, its worth saving up for one of their leather bags 🙂

Here are some of the items that caught my eye from the Legacy collection. I stopped by the store to fondle some of the new bright coloured bags and I have to say I was sorely tempted. You see, I just realised I don’t have a bright green or bright blue bag 😀 😀

Coach Originals – Because great designs never go out of style… and I agree!

May 22, 2011 Paris B 29 Comments

Snob or not, I’ve stopped looking at Coach bags. The whole “limited edition” thing got to me and when they launched the Poppy bags, I said that’s it! There have been one or two designs that caught my eye (the Coach Kristin collection) but I mostly only ever gave the brand a cursory glance.

Until now.

I saw these online at coach.com – the Coach Originals collection. The tagline is awesome – “Trends come and go. But great designs never go out of style”.

I’m glad you realized that Coach, because I’m in love with the designs!
