Your Say: Ever been too tired or lazy to remove your makeup? Here’s 6 Tips for simple, quick makeup removal

September 10, 2013 Paris B 36 Comments

too tired to remove makeup

I’d had a hectic event-filled last weekend, with a good friend’s wedding on one day and my little nephew’s first birthday party on the other. I think I need a weekend after that weekend! It was the first time in a long time that I’d worn makeup every single day of a week, late into the night. When I got home, it was all I could do to stop myself from falling into bed and crashing.

Yet, I dragged myself to my dresser to go through my makeup removal ritual, finishing off in the shower. And feeling heaps better for it! Do you ever feel like this? Or have you ever felt that you were too tired or even lazy to remove your makeup before falling into bed?

You shouldn’t of course. Going to bed with your makeup on is bad for your skin (and disaster for your sheets!) Never mind if it’s mineral makeup or natural makeup. Makeup is makeup. You should only go to bed with nothing on your skin except your skincare. So, here are a few ways to make the makeup removal task after a long day, or late night out, quicker and more painless, without damaging your skin.

Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser : Warming up to a natural and organic cleansing balm

August 22, 2013 Paris B 29 Comments

I’m still experimenting with facial cleansers ever since I stopped using cleansing oils. On a previous occasion, I was playing around with cleansing milk or cream cleansers. They were ok, but not quite what I was looking for. Then, I was using cleansing water and micellar water. Refreshing, but although I really like the Bioderma micellar water and use it almost daily, something was lacking.

So lately, I’m trying out cleansing balms. The first one I tried was the Eve Lom Cleanser. I like it. I love travelling with it in particular, because it is an excellent makeup remover and leaves my skin feeling lovely, soft and clean. It is also chock-a-block with mineral oil which many people shy away from. So, I recently gave an organic option a go.

The organic option is the Antipodes Grapeseed Butter Cleanser and I must say, it took me months to warm up to this and it came down to learning how much to use, and the best way to remove it. Ever since being introduced to the brand, I have to say that my perception of organic skincare has changed a little.

I used to shy away, because I had a poor experience before. But my experience with Antipodes skincare has so far been positive in almost all respects. It does please me to realise this as I now have a brand I can turn to if I want something organic and natural.

So, the Grapeseed Butter Cleaner. You have to firstly understand that this is a cleansing balm. It is quite unlike your regular wash and go cleanser. It takes a little more effort and a little more work. But it is worth it, I promise 🙂

No really, is the Eve Lom Cleanser “The best cleanser in the world” as Vogue claims?

July 12, 2012 Paris B 82 Comments

A while ago, at the recommendation of a friend, I picked up a travel set of Eve Lom skincare. It was the first time I’d ever heard of the brand, and it was pricey. A little travel pack of trial sizes cost me a little over RM200 and it came from London, where the brand originates. Coincidentally, not long after, another friend gifted me with an Eve Lom Starter Kit. I never really thought to blog about them because they weren’t available locally here in Malaysia.

Ah, so why are you seeing me blog about it, you may wonder? Its because Eve Lom is appearing on our shores starting in August 2012 😀 I thought it would be a good time for me to talk a little about the products I’ve tried and to give you an overview of the products that I’ve tried, as I see it.

The bestselling item and the award winner in the Eve Lom skincare range is the Cleanser. In fact, Vogue once described it as “The best cleanser in the world” Lofty claims yes? We have here a multi-tasking cleanser that purports to remove makeup, cleanse, tone and exfoliate. It comes with a muslin cloth which is really the key to using this product.

I’ve actually been quite lucky in that both the Travel Kit and Starter Kit both contained generous samples of the cleanser so I’ve had ample opportunities to try this one. I will say however, that if you are the lazy wash-and-go sort, you won’t like this one at all. I like it but with a bit of a caveat.
