Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm claims to be the best cleanser you’ll ever use! Is it?

May 26, 2016 Paris B 26 Comments

The problem right, when you start getting into anything, be it makeup or skincare, you start developing an unhealthy interest in items that you can’t actually get in local stores. I tend to follow many bloggers from the UK for some reason, and it’s a whole new world of brands and products there that I’m not sure I’ll ever see here.

Enter then, online shopping – praise the online shopping Gods!

And that’s how I ended up lusting over and eventually purchasing the very highly raved Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm without ever having seen or tried it in person. A quick search online will throw up multiple glowing reviews from many high-profile bloggers, some of whom know their stuff. Which is why I got suckered in even deeper!

Omorovicza is a Hungarian brand of luxury skincare hailing from Budapest (that’s a city I hope to visit some day!) It utilizes Hungary’s thermal waters in their fairly extensive product range. The thermal waters contain minerals that heal and rejuvenate skin, and there’s even a spa built on the site of this thermal spring. The Thermal Cleansing Balm is one of their popular products, and as I’m an avid user of cleansing balm, I just had to try it.

A few months of use and half a tub later… I’m afraid I’m going to be that spoilsport and say “Meh… let’s move on!”

That cult Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm had me wondering if it was truly that amazing

September 11, 2015 Paris B 23 Comments

I haven’t talked about cleansing balms for a while, have I? The reason is because I’d been working very hard to finish what I had opened, so I could justify a) buying a new one and b) opening a new tub from my stash. It’s a never ending cycle, this!

But I eventually did finish up my open cleansers and gleefully dug right into this tub that I’d had for a while and had been itching to use.

This is the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm and comes highly raved online, so naturally, you know how it is. I fell for it, hook, line and sinker! 😀

Emma Hardie is a brand from the UK and is a range of natural skincare products developed by Emma, who is an aesthetician. I haven’t tried any of the other products in the Amazing Face range, mostly because it’s a brand we don’t get locally, and it’s a wee bit pricey for me to make a mistake with (or to get addicted to) But never say never! I’m open to trying more, if you have a rec or two 🙂

But about this balm – did I like it and why does it come so highly raved?

Should I use a cleansing oil or cleansing balm? Some tips on which to pick

January 29, 2015 Paris B 41 Comments

Here’s an interesting question I get sometimes, about when or whether to use cleansing oil or cleansing balm. I should say that I’m a proponent of using both, because I’m a proponent of double cleansing. It’s the one facet of the Japanese skincare routine I started with, that I maintain and it seems to be a pretty popular practice or notion these days as well, to ensure your skin is properly clean.

However, what would you use as your first step of the double cleansing routine? Years ago, I’d have unhesitatingly said “Cleansing oil as a one step process to remove makeup and dirt from skin”. But in the past 2 years, my answer would be “Cleansing balms because they feel more gentle on skin”

So naturally, I get people asking me which I prefer and why did I stop using cleansing oils when they’re so much more convenient. I hope to explain myself here 🙂

At the end of a long day, Clinique invites you to Take The Day Off with their Cleansing Balm

May 29, 2014 Paris B 43 Comments

When I started my obsession with cleansing balms (yes, it’s an obsession I’ve curbed temporarily but will, I suspect be back in full force in a few months once I’m more settled) the one that kept popping up in recommendations was the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm.

Naturally therefore, at the first opportunity, I popped off and got myself a tub and dug in. It wasn’t all that smooth a journey though. I had my moments and my doubts about how I felt about this cleansing balm despite all the raves, and I just wasn’t sure.

But, fast forward 4 months and half a tub later, I can safely tell you that I’ve put all doubts aside and although I wasn’t enamoured with it from the get go, I like it now.

I even like it a lot more because of the attractive and relatively wallet friendly price, and because it comes in a large volume and will last a while. Oh and it does a great job as it claims, but with one caveat. I think it works best when used with a face flannel, not merely washed off. Continue Reading
