Has your makeup preferences changed post-pandemic? I’m rekindling my enjoyment for wearing makeup

Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, when we were forced to stay indoors, I’d ditched any semblance of wearing makeup. Why bother, when you won’t be going out, or wearing a mask. It felt like a waste of time and effort (and in many ways, it was).

When restrictions lifted and life began going back to normal, I still balked at wearing makeup. My lifestyle had changed. I was spending more times outdoors, less time being social, and wearing masks all the time. This hasn’t changed in over 3 years, and realistically I don’t expect it to change very much going forward.

But over the last few months, I’ve had the occasion to put on some makeup for social events, and I have to say that I’ve actually found it fun! 😀

Late to the party but always red carpet camera ready with the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette

November 12, 2018 Paris B 4 Comments

Sometimes, you have to use a product for quite a while before you figure out if it’s something you like or dislike. And sometimes, by the time you have figured it out, you realize that you’ve forgotten to take photos of it in its pristine condition. Thus was the fate of my Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette and why you see it here in its well-used, defiled glory.

But I think sometimes that’s good. Bloggers are human. We (most of us) use our products, and it is a sad day that we don’t, and just keep products to display. And sometimes, we rediscover products, and tell you about it.

When the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette took the world by storm a few years ago, I had not yet figured out what bronzer did for me. I still had it in my head that a bronzer was to do with contouring the face. It is, but not in the Kardashian way.

I now use bronzing powders as a face warming powder. When I started getting the hang of it, I decided to add this popular palette to my growing collection of bronzing powders.

I indulged in the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette but I’m in two minds about it

October 20, 2017 Paris B 12 Comments

One of the buzzier Holiday collection products to have hit social media was the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette. Actually, that’s not quite right. I came across it entirely by chance from a Cult Beauty email, and I liked what I saw. So I put myself on the pre-sale list and when the time came, picked it up. Then, it sort of exploded on the internet LOL!

I don’t own any Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow, so I thought it was a decent deal. 12 eye colours in one handy palette. Deal right? Well, relatively speaking of course 😀

If this palette looks familiar, then know that you aren’t alone. Most people have likened this to the famed Urban Decay Naked palette, and if you are thinking that, you aren’t far from the mark. I personally feel it is a mesh between the UD Naked 1 and Naked 2 palettes, due to the presence of cooler tones in this one. But that’s really where the similarity ends. I had Naked 1 (which I lost) and I have Naked 2, so I can tell you that the colours may look similar to the naked eye (hur hur!) but aren’t the same at all. So, if you’re wondering, no, this is nothing like the UD Naked palettes whether in terms of colours or performance. The similarity ends at the fact that this is an eyeshadow palette with neutral colours.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, is this a palette you’d want to blow your holiday collection budget on?

In my quest for another nude lipstick to love, Charlotte Tilbury is Bitch Perfect

August 7, 2017 Paris B 16 Comments

If you’ve been with me for the past 10 years, you’d be quite familiar with a few things about me. One of it is that my choice of lipstick colour is at the brighter end of the colour spectrum. Specifically, I wear red or bright lipstick colours. Rarely a nude because no one wants to look like a walking corpse.

Well, not me at any rate. Yet, after years of dabbling in makeup, I might have found a nude lipstick that works for me. I found it first in Chanel’s Rouge Allure Ink in Amoureux, which I swear I need a back up of! It’s such a perfect colour for me.

Secondly, I’m not a fan of desserts, sweets and cakes. To see 2 of them in one picture therefore, means the moon is blue, and there’s a cow jumping over it LOL! Incidentally, I’ve found another nude lipstick that works for me. Hallelujah!

Or maybe let’s not raise our hands so quickly, because while I like the colour a lot, I feel that the formula leaves a lot to be desired.

It does leave me in the minority, I feel, because this lovely nude lipstick, with the perfect kickass name of “Bitch Perfect” is by Charlotte Tilbury.
