New: Maybelline Hypersharp eyeliner, Crabtree & Evelyn x Hello Kitty, Neutrogena Sunscreen, L’Oreal Revitalift White SPF18 Day Cream, Vichy Normaderm Nuit cream, Canmake Cheek & Cheek Blush

June 18, 2011 Paris B 14 Comments

Saturday again Ladies!

Here are a couple of some new beauty bits spotted out and about, with some quick thoughts on those I have tried (or even those I haven’t because… why! I’m versatile that way! 😛 ) If you have tried any one of the products listed and want to contribute your 2 cents, please feel free to do so in the comments 😀

Maybelline Hypersharp Eyeliner

New to the Maybelline stables is the liquid eyeliner pen – Hypersharp eyeliner. Offering a very fine flexible nib and waterproof formula, this eyeliner pen is supposed to make it super easy to line one’s eyes. I haven’t reviewed it, but my favourite liquid liner pen is the Smashbox Liquid Eyeliner Pen. Very awesome for drawing a nice dark line that does not budge all day. I’m keen to see how this fares by comparison. You’ll know once I do!

Maybelline Hypersharp Eyeliner pen retails at RM23.90 at all Maybelline counters

Crabtree & Evelyn x Hello Kitty

crabtree & evelyn hello kitty bags

I’m no fan of Hello Kitty but if you are, Crabtree & Evelyn have teamed up with Sanrio’s Hello Kitty for a range of exclusive Hello Kitty x Crabtree & Evelyn bags available as gifts with purchase between 15 June – 17 July 2011. The minimum purchase of RM250 will get you a Hello Kitty Cosmetic bag. To get the Rosewater x Hello Kitty bag (pictured right) minimum spend is RM450 and to get the large Iris x Hello Kitty bags (pictured left) minimum spend is RM1,000. Ouchies! Strictly for fans only I guess.

Review: Makeup: Canmake Loose Cheek blush powder

March 18, 2008 Paris B 1 Comment

I saw these tubs of Canmake Loose Cheek blush powder in Sasa and I immediately fell in love with them. Which girl can pass up the adorable clear lucite tubs with the cute little puff nestled within? They are like mini tubs of Kanebo T’estimo’s layer loose powder blush.

This is a loose powder blush. From experience, loose powder blushes can be tricky to handle if they are pigmented. This is because just a little dab can leave you with clown cheeks. So, the fact that the Canmake powder blush is sheer has its benefits.

I tested Baby Pink, Rose Pink and Orange. Baby Pink is a very light pink colour with slight shimmer. It hardly shows up on my skin and would only suit the very fair in my view.

Rose Pink is a medium pink shade with gold toned shimmer. This one appeals to me because it is a slightly shimmery peachy shade on my skin. It reminds me of T’estimo’s PK20 loose powder blush which I missed buying and I’m happy to have a cheap option at my disposal. Orange was just orange. It would probably suit those with tanned skin but only made me look bruised and strange.

The loose powder blush comes in a little tub with the softest cutest powder puff you will find in a beauty store. There is a sifter so all you need to do is hold the puff against the sifter and turn the tub over a few times so the colour gets onto the puff. Then tap it against your hand to disperse the colour and only then pat it on your face. It is sheer so it makes for less mistakes and you can layer it on for more intensity. A tub of Canmake loose cheek powder costs RM36.90.

Now who said that cheap was not good?

Pros: Cheap, sheer, cute packaging

Cons: Wears off faster

Review: Makeup: Canmake Micro Loose Powder

February 25, 2008 Paris B 1 Comment

I saw these cute little tubs of loose powder at the Canmake counter in Sasa and I just had to try it. For the uninitiated, Canmake is a range of cheap makeup from Japan that is super cute and in some cases, have pretty decent quality.

The Micro Loose powder comes in a little plastic tub with a cute puff and there are 4 colors:

  • 001 – Baby Beige – Semi matte texture with beige/translucent colour
  • 002 – Fairly Pearl – beige with shimmer
  • 003 – Venus Shiny – Light gold with shimmer
  • 004 – Terracotta Bronze – bronze with shimmer

Other than 001, the other 3 colours have shimmer in them which is quite overpowering if you are planning to use it on your face. I dabbed the powder on the back of my hand, and even then, found it way too shimmery for use on the face. However, if you have a party to go to and want some cheap shimmer powder that you can use all over your face and body, this might be a good option without breaking your bank. It retails for RM36.90 or thereabouts.

Review: Makeup: Canmake Glitter Eye eyeshadow

February 15, 2008 Paris B 3 Comments

I happened to be passing by a Sasa store when I saw a selection of Canmake products with some new ones I haven’t checked out previously. One such product is the Canmake Glitter Eye eyeshadow palette.

Canmake is a range of cheap makeup from Japan and I happen to like the Canmake eye nuance trios. These little palettes caught my eye because they are so cute and sparkly and cheap! I think they are about RM29.90 or thereabouts at Sasa.

You get 2 colours and a pan of glitter powder. However, the gushing stops there for although it is cute and cheap, I found the texture gritty and colour payoff was quite poor. True, for under RM30 one can’t really complain, but their trios have a pretty smooth texture (though sheer), so I guess I was expecting something similar.

All that said, its a cute little item, and if you are making up favors or gift packs or sending little gifts to girls overseas, or simply if you just want something fun and glittery for parties, its worth checking out.

Pros: Cheap, glittery and fun

Cons: Gritty and poor color payoff
