In the cream eyeshadow Jungle, it will be a Bronze Moon (not blue) before I love the By Terry Ombre Blackstar

March 30, 2016 Paris B 13 Comments

You know, I kind of hate it when a product is very popular with many people, but doesn’t sit well with me. It often makes me wonder what’s wrong with me. Am I too picky? Is my skin weird? What is WRONG?!

And then I realise that well, nothing is. Quite often, it comes down to differing preferences, or just weird skin!

Which brings me to the By Terry Ombre Blackstar cream eyeshadow sticks. You should know by now that I’ve got a thing for cream eyeshadow sticks. They’re so incredibly portable and easy to use, with lovely shimmer and texture, that I wonder why I don’t use these and only these for eyeshadow all day, everyday!

And then I realise why – not everyone gets it right. I’ve tried some that have gotten it horribly wrong, and I have my favourites (Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown, if you’re wondering – I have multiples from both brands!) But the By Terry Ombre Blackstar pens come highly rated. I’d be hard-pressed to find someone out there who doesn’t like these, and I was pressed to try this. “Try it!” the sirens cooed “You will love it! It’s smooth, it’s creamy, it’s got beautiful colour!”

So I tried it. And you know what sirens do in the myths? They lure you to the rocks so you crash and burn. Ah yep, that was me, crashing and burning while the sirens cackled overhead 😛

It might be discontinued but it won’t stop me talking about this £52 By Terry Blush!

August 19, 2015 Paris B 22 Comments

You know what really sucks? When you own something that you really like and finally get around to taking pictures so you can blog and tell the world just how much you absolutely freaking love this thing…. only to find out it has been discontinued.

What. The. Flying…. Fish!

But you know what? I’d already taken my pictures and I found a new version that is close enough so I will tell you about it anyway, because I damn bloody love this blush…. even if it costs the earth.

by terry terrybly blush erotic pink

This offending product is the By Terry Terrybly blush in the shade #2 Erotic Pink. Did I buy it for the name? Hmm… what d’ya think? 😀 But actually no, I did not. I found that the shades were a bit deep and Erotic Pink was one of the lightest and pinkest, so since this colour works for me, I went with it.

The blush line was refurbished last year (tsk!) to appparently be even better and softer and more luminous on skin, and it is now called the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Blush and there is a sort of similar shade in there called #5 Sexy Pink. It does look a little more baby pink than this so don’t take my word for it.

So why am I going to bang on about this discontinued product you ask? Well, because I do like it a lot, and because I’m quite sure you might be able to still find it floating around if you want it, perhaps even on sale (you’re an intrepid lot, you’ll find it!) and because I wanted to tell you if a £52 blush is worth the splurge. Yes my friends, I see your cringe and I raise you a grimace!

Preview: By Terry Rose Infernale Fall 2014 Makeup Collection

September 19, 2014 Paris B 23 Comments

Fans of By Terry Baume de Rose, rejoice! For in the Rose Infernale Fall 2014 collection, By Terry has taken her iconic rose lip balm and infused it with colour, so you get a tint of colour on lips while treating them to the luxurious lip pampering formula that By Terry is known for.

by terry baume de rose nutri couleur

The By Terry Baume de Rose Nutri Couleur (RM199) comes in 6 brand new shades – No. 1 Rosy Babe (light pink), No. 2 Mandrina Pulp (Orange), No. 3 Cherry Bomb (Red), No. 4 Bloom Berry (Berry), No. 5 Fig Fiction (Plum) and No. 6 Toffee Cream (Nude) in addition to the existing transparent Baume de Rose pot. They feature translucent tints of colour, just enough to tint lips, but not so opaque as to be deemed a lipstick. Pretty and definitely luxurious. I suggest using a lip brush for best application. If you use fingers, it’ll get messy.

While these colour pots are permanent, there is however another very pretty item that isn’t – the Terrybly Rose de Rose powder.

By Terry Cellularose Blush Glace is like a whisper of luxurious Rose Melba on your skin

April 23, 2014 Paris B 32 Comments

It’s funny how ever since I told you that By Terry is back here in Malaysia, I hadn’t really gone and had a good old play with their products. I have a bunch of them that I look at now and again without feeling too much of a flutter in my breast.

But you know, it’s when I actually like something a lot that I think of writing a post. Or if I hate it 😀

So which category would the By Terry Cellularose Blush Glace fall into then? 😀

The Cellularose Blush Glace was a new product in the By Terry line launched with their Spring 2014 collection and was so fascinating, I had to try it despite the hefty price tag. Our local counter didn’t know when they were getting it in yet when I first enquired, so I purchased it online but then I found out it was available a few days later 😛

What fascinated me was the texture of this blush which lies partway between liquid, gel and mousse. It’s almost like whipped cream in its consistency. By Terry says that this is a “quenching blush” which delicately flushes your cheeks with transparent colour, and I was fascinated.
