Protect and Whiten in the Day: Laneige White Plus Renew Daily Protection Cream SPF36 PA++

April 28, 2011 Paris B 7 Comments

I don’t usually use whitening products but once or twice in a year I do, especially when I’ve had a touch of sun or when I feel my skintone is looking too uneven for its own good. Usually its the former reason. This year, my whitening regime consists of a day cream and a night cream, but both from different brands. In the night, I’m using the Clarins White Plus HP Night Cream (review to come later today) and in the day, I’m using this one – Laneige White Plus Renew Daily Protection Cream SPF36 PA++

I’m not too familiar with Laneige as a brand, and my previous trials of Laneige products didn’t quite wow me. I’m not all WOW now either, but I must say I quite like this particular cream. For those of you who aren’t into using sunscreen, this would be a winner in your books because of the high sunscreen protection included 🙂

The Dior Diorsnow BB Creme is not a figment of my imagination!

April 25, 2011 Paris B 38 Comments

On 1 April, I held a chit-chat session and I showed you a picture of the Diorsnow UV Shield BB Creme with SPF50 PA+++ Apparently, some thought it might be an April Fool’s joke 🙂 Dior coming out with a BB Creme? Not likely right?

However, it wasn’t a joke. Dior did come up with a BB Creme under the Diorsnow skincare range! 😀

Looks like the luxury brands aren’t sparing the BB Cream hype. Dior has placed their BB Cream, or as they would have it “BB Creme” together with their Diorsnow sunscreen range. The regular Diorsnow Sublissime UV sunscreen did not work out for me before, so I was a little worried as to whether I’d break out. I was also worried as to whether it might be too oily, too light/dark and too thick – some of the reasons I dislike using BB Creams.

diorsnow bb creme pump and cap

Sorry for the messy pump, but this is the mechanism of the Diorsnow BB Cream – a pump on a tube. The tube at 30ml is rather small but unlike my problem with Etude House BB Cream, I faced no problems using this pump mechanism. It was smooth and pumped out a sizeable enough amount each time. I only use 1 pump for my face, since BB Creams do look better with a light layer on. I’ve got a colour swatch below, since this product comes in only 1 colour.

Targeting Spots with Shiseido White Lucent Intensive Spot Targeting Serum

April 4, 2011 Paris B 23 Comments

I don’t know if anyone notices, but March every year is all about whitening products. Every brand out there comes out with something new in their whitening or brightening range, and its all such a mind-boggling array of products it just throws you out of whack. So, I like to buck the trend, and NOT inundate with you with news of whitening products then. In fact, I like to buck the trend, period. I’m not a mag, thank you 😛

But part of the reason I have to buck the trend is because I only got my hands on some whitening products in March so there’s no way I could have told you about it then. One of the products I got my hands on was the Shiseido White Lucent Spot Targeting serum.

Its not new but its new to me 🙂 I’ve tried some products from the White Lucent line a few years ago, and I found them alright but nothing quite spectacular. What caught my attention was that this serum promises to lighten dark spots and brighten skin within 14 days. Ooh boy! Let’s put them to the test! 😀

Whiten and Brighten : Vichy Bi-White, Clarins White Plus HP, Laneige White Plus Renew, Diorsnow White Reveal

March 19, 2011 Paris B 28 Comments

Happy Saturday Ladies!

What ‘cha up to this weekend? I have to run a few errands but I have a spa lined up later today which I am hoping will be better than the most recent experience I had!

After all the rain and cool weather we had in the past few months, the sun has been blistering HOT in the day lately! Just nicely, we have here 4 brands with new launches for their whitening or brightening skincare and some quick immediate thoughts I have on them, and my quick answer to some queries on using whitening skincare below 🙂

Vichy Bi-White Deep Cell-Whitening Spot Intervention

vichy bi white deep cell whitening spot intervention cream

A targeted spot treatment from Vichy Laboratoires so you only use it on the problem areas not all over your face. What this product is supposed to do is to arrest the melanin at the cellular level to control melanin production. The better it is controlled, the less dark spots or the lighter spots become. You can use it to reduce the appearance of dark spots (pigmentation) or acne scars too. Hypoallergenic and Paraben-free and said to be suitable for sensitive skin. I’ve been working on this for a while now but unfortunately the difference may be too minute for me to notice.

Prices: Vichy Bi-White Deep Cell-Whitening Spot Intervention retails at RM99/15ml

Clarins White Plus HP Whitening Repairing Night Cream

Clarins introduces their new night cream in the White Plus HP range which is an addition to the present White Plus HP line. This time, other than Sea Lily, the cream is also enriched with daisy extract to control and slow down the production of melanin at night and to combat the stresses and UV effects of the day.  Use at night after cleansing, toning, and serum (if used). Tested this on the back of my hand and it feels lovely and light on the skin and absorbs quickly plus the scent is quite intriguing 🙂

Prices: Clarins White Plus HP Whitening Repairing Night Cream retails at RM240/50ml
