Christmas Gift Guide & Best of 2009 : Smooches under the mistletoe!

December 2, 2009 Paris B 13 Comments

guide_lips

Kissing under the mistletoe! A lovely Christmas tradition 😉

Pucker up with these lovely lip products that make great gifts too! Here are my personal favourites from 2009.

Best Lip Products of 2009

I love the Dior Serum de Rouge lipstick so this is a natural choice for me if you want to treat yourself to a bit of luxury. There are 8 colors to choose from and if you’re expecting a bit of bonus from work for a job well done over the year, this is also a good way to reward yourself 🙂 Retails at RM109. Worth it! So worth it! Already 2 people have told me so! And if you get it as a gift, your friend would love you for it! 🙂

Or another glam choice would be Lancome’s Rouge Absolu lipstick – gorgeous eye catching colours to suit most skintones. A little more affordable than the Dior 🙂 or if you want something personalized try to get the Guerlain Rouge G lipstick case engraved. I believe Guerlain can arrange that for you or you can just get it done at any engravers.

On a budget? Not to worry! Bloop de Paris creamy lipstick gives you creamy lips too at a much lower price and more budget picks follow.

Review: Bloop de Paris Puff Blush – Magic Peach

October 26, 2009 Paris B 20 Comments

I used to look at the YSL Touche blush and thought it super cute, but I couldn’t bring myself to pay for it if it wasn’t practical or user-friendly. So, when I noticed that Bloop de Paris has a dupe of the YSL Touche blush, it was a no brainer to give it a shot!

Note: YSL Cosmetics has been pulled from Malaysia (it is also pulled from Singapore) despite previous information to the contrary. I’m told its due to a change of management and distribution channels so I’m confident we’ll see it come back soon 🙂

bloop-puff blush

So since we don’t have YSL for now, we have Bloop! The packaging of the Bloop de Paris Puff Blush isn’t as lux as that of YSL I have to admit, but the concept is the same i.e. loose powder blush that applies through a sponge puff. You tap it on and you can use the puff to blend it.

I encountered a slight “accident” when I first opened the cap of the Puff Puff blusher. The sponge puff had come off and some of the loose powder blush has spilled everywhere which was a bit of a mess. Getting it back on was a bit of a hassle as you have to pull a sponge “cap” over the hole where the powder comes out of; but once I got the sponge puff back on, it’s stayed put ever since.

Here’s my tip for using the Bloop de Paris Puff Puff Blusher or any similar type of blush:-

Tap the puff on the back of your hand until you see the colour appear. Only then do you tap LIGHTLY on the apples of your cheeks. Preferably, use a brush to blend the colour on your cheeks. Otherwise, lightly blend edges with the sponge puff. Layer if needed.

When I do it the way I mentioned above, I get adorable kawaii rosy cheeks. Its all I want to do to put on light shimmery makeup and strike a kawaii pose 🙂 But if I’m lazy and puff it straight on the cheeks without first puffing it on the back of my hand, I get a “OMG You just got slapped!” look – not nice!

Review: Bloop de Paris Love Series lipstick – Creamy Deliciousness

September 14, 2009 Paris B 9 Comments

bloop love series lipstick

Bloop de Paris Love Series lipstick recently won the Cleo Beauty Hall of Fame 2009 for Best Cream Lipstick (Cleo mag Sept 09 issue). Quite a bit of a surprise really, since its a relatively lesser known brand that’s not widely distributed.

I had to see if it lived up to the claim of it being rich and creamy and providing intense hydration to keep lips plump and youthful as touted in the Cleo blurb. I found that it delivered on some accounts but did not deliver on other accounts.

The lipstick is of the slim variety weighing in at a mere 2.2g and comes in a slim tube. Slim tubes make good travel partners because they aren’t bulky so that’s good.

Texture-wise, the lipstick lives up to being rich and creamy. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised at just how creamy and pigmented it went on my lips. Just one swipe and you get a rich intense colour that looks just like it does in the tube. You can’t even get that from some high end lipsticks.

My first attempt at Nail Art with Bloop de Paris

September 8, 2009 Paris B 28 Comments

You won’t see many posts about nails or nail polish here on my blog mainly because I’m not into nail polish. I’m also a klutz and my attempts at painting my nails always end up in disaster. If I can do the left hand, the right will be messed up and vice versa.

However I’d been inspired to try some form of nail art after reading the nail art afficionados – Nikki and PrettyBeautiful so I took the plunge. My nail polishes are by Bloop de Paris – an inexpensive brand you can pick up from some Watson’s pharmacy, Bloop’s counter in Sunway Pyramid or even at the KLIA.

The 2 shades I have are a lurid cream pink (H2C8) and a shimmer-glitter gold (H558). I have actually worn the gold shimmer by itself – its fool proof and gives nails a very festive look – perfect for the coming year end festivities perhaps? The polishes dry quite quickly and were quite long lasting – they didn’t fade or chip for about a week except for when I chipped it prying a stapler out of a document 😛 Yes I abuse my poor nails.

I did something very simple I’d like to call Golden Tips O’Glory – which is pretty much self-explanatory.
