The end of the world is not nigh, but the end of 2012 is! What a year it has been! 😀 I’m not going to do a “Best of 2012” in a true sense, because heck, its hard to choose, ok! So I’m just going to pick some random categories and tell you what I think the best of 2012 has been for me, and you can do the same 🙂

Best Nail Polish discovery

I don’t wear nail polish at the best of times. But I am ever thankful to the reader who pointed me in the direction of A-England nail polishes.

For someone who doesn’t wear nail polish, I’ve accumulated quite a few from the brand. Application is superb, colours are beautiful, and they ship worldwide for free, from the land of Arthurian legend, England. If you have not yet tried theirs, I urge you to. You won’t regret it, I promise! 🙂

Insta-Updates: In celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee

I don’t usually post much on weekends, but I’m making an exception for this weekend because its the Diamond Jubilee weekend! Queen Elizabeth II celebrates 60 years on the throne and I’m a bit of an Anglophile so I had to mark the occasion. Its not everyday we see a monarch reign for 60 years anymore.

I chose to mark the occasion by doing something I almost never do – my nails 😛 Dug around in my stash and found the colours of the Union Jack in the aptly named A-England polishes – Excalibur, Order of the Garter and Perceval.

A-England was the brand that made me want to start painting my nails again, and that is really no mean feat, considering my impatience and all round klutziness when it comes to nails. I picked up all in The Legends collection when it was released and considered myself done in. Got bored 🙂

But when I was playing dress up recently, I wanted to paint my nails to match my navy blue dress. I wanted a bold shade that complemented the colour of the dress without being too matchy-matchy (My original choice was Tristam). But then, my eye fell on St. George and I thought “Hmm… I seem to have missed using that colour! Let’s see how it fares…”

Enter the Dragon! A-England brings the Dragon legend to life

I was planning to do a whole compilation post of all the nail polishes in the A-England The Legend collection. I just received them recently and have been meaning to showcase them. This is the new collection based on St. George and the Dragon and is, I promise you, one of the best I’ve known. The raves all up and down the interweb are well deserved and considering I’m a real nail polish bozo, you can take it from me – its an awesome collection.

However, I then realised a couple of things. Today is the last day of the Chinese New Year festivities – Chap Goh Meh as we call it here or the 15th day of the Lunar Month. According to chinese calculations, although we celebrated the Chinese New year on January 23rd, the actual 1st day of Spring or “Lap Chun” only came in on February 4th which is, if one is to be pedantic, the official start of the Dragon year. Technicalities aside, to celebrate both of these events, I bring you the A-England polish in Dragon! 😀
