3 Pet-friendly Floor Cleaners : Safe for your baby and your fur-baby!

May 27, 2020 Paris B 2 Comments

Ever since I got a pet, I’ve had to put into place a few lifestyle changes. For one, I now have something to care for other than myself, so I’ve had to make a lot of allowances for time, and freezer space for his food LOL!

One more thing I did some research into, was floor cleaner, because he’s running around the house all the time, and is always picking things off the floor. Just like a baby!

3 pet friendly child friendly floor cleaner

Before I got Sherlock, I’d already shifted away from using very strong floor cleaner. I have laminated wood flooring laid throughout my home, so the floor cleaners I use must be suitable for those type of flooring.

I also wanted something fairly ‘safe’, which meant that it had to be gentle on skin (my hands and feet are sensitive to detergent) and safer for me to breathe in.

I was using one of it for a while, but since getting a pet and having to clean the floor more regularly since, I had to opt for something a little more cost-effective. In the process, I found better options for pet-safe and pet-friendly floor cleaners, easily available locally here in Malaysia 😀

If you too own pets, or have children, these 3 pet-friendly and child-friendly floor cleaners might be something you could look into 🙂

Why now might not be the best time to buy beauty products from overseas online stores

May 21, 2020 Paris B 15 Comments

If online shopping hadn’t already captured your imagination before this, these past 2 months being cooped up at home might have made you a convert.

It’s become to convenient to shop online for everything from groceries to fresh fruit, meat and vegetables, and of course, the little bits and bobs we need around the house. Even my Dad has taken to buying things online, something I never thought he’d do!

online shopping iherb cult beauty

I too have been doing a bit of online shopping, but mostly things for my dog or some household items. The pup has amassed quite a goodly selection of toys and accessories since we got locked down LOL 😛

But instead of buying from my usual overseas websites, I have been spending a lot of time on sites like Lazada and Shopee. For those outside the region who are wondering what these sites are, these sites are rather like Amazon, where you can find anything and everything under the sun.

What I have not been buying since March however, when we were put into lockdown, is beauty products from my usual overseas online stores.

So, when I received a few inquiries by email and through Instagram from people having inordinate delays receiving their beauty purchases, or in more than a few cases, having their items returned or prevented from being delivered, I was a little puzzled. This hadn’t happened to me before.

But I have an idea why it might be so.

Retinol Tips: 5 Things I always do when using retinol serums

May 14, 2020 Paris B 7 Comments

Retinol has been a bit of a hot topic here at MWS this past week, ever since I shared that tip on how I deal with milia. It’s amused me a little that not many people are aware that it is an ingredient, and not a product per se.

However, I am not surprised, because I cannot assume that just because most of us reading this are crazy about skincare (or have educated ourselves about it), everyone else has.

retinol tips

The thing about using a retinol based serum is that it isn’t something you should pick up off the shelves, and slap onto your face, without reading the directions of use. Very often, retinol based products can be drying. It is a characteristic of this ingredient, and very often, you will experience discomfort, peeling, dryness and sensitivity.

So, I always advise exercising caution when using anything with retinol, or any retinol derivative. There are also 5 things I always, ALWAYS do when using a retinol – and you might want to keep this in mind. It will make for a more comfortable, satisfying use 🙂

SKINCARE TIP: Get rid of milia (oil seeds) painlessly, the slow but steady way

May 7, 2020 Paris B 6 Comments

I’m not usually prone to getting milia, or oil seeds, so I never really had to figure out how to deal with it before. However, in the past year, I’ve experienced it twice, and gotten rid of them twice, with very good results.

So, I decided to share how I did it. But with a caveat.

remove milia oil seeds gently

My method isn’t quick and may not be for those with very sensitive skin. I therefore advise that you proceed with caution, and adjust your expectations and products accordingly. Remember to always work within your own tolerance.

And now, here’s how I do it 🙂

It’s an unusual Chinese New Year this year. It’s the first time since I left home that I did not make an early morning drive home for CNY for the reunion dinner (I always do so to beat traffic). It’s the first time I’m spending CNY in KL. It’s the first time my hair is looking such a mess for CNY 😂
Regardless, we do this not for ourselves but for others so we can have more joyful CNY celebrations to come.
Wishing all of you a Happy, healthy Chinese New Year filled with Ox-picious tidings 🧧 Gong Xi Fa Cai and enjoy the festive break! ❤️
