Dior Capture Totale One Essential Serum – One Serum to rule them all!

February 25, 2010 Paris B 48 Comments

I am one of beauty’s biggest sceptics. Call a product a miracle or promise me that it’d make me look younger and I’d look askance at you. That’s how I felt about the Dior Capture Totale One Essential Skin Boosting Super Serum. You will have seen the ads with Sharon Stone looking stunning in them. Its a mouthful so I’ll just call it the Dior One Essential Serum. But I was more sceptical than impressed to be honest.

The Dior One Essential serum says that it helps eliminate surface toxins on the skin and help reveal clearer, brighter skin that is more line free. Really? Since it contains AHA and Glycolic Acid, I don’t doubt the peeling process but how about the rest of it?

Because this serum helps to “peel” your skin and “clear toxins” its supposed to help your skin absorb the nutrients from other creams better. I took it on a trial spin – and after 1.5 months I’m still liking it and its effects! I’ve got some before and after pictures to show you below 🙂

Dior Capture Totale One Essential Serum

Since the Dior Capture Totale One Essential serum promises to help erase lines, I paid special attention to that. I have deep nasolabial lines or laugh lines. Its partly hereditary. So, that would be a good test of the serum’s properties – and it did work!

Here are before and after pictures to show you if the One Essential serum works. For me, it did. Scary close up pictures ahead!

New: Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – An Elixir!

February 19, 2010 Paris B 8 Comments

I don’t think this is out here yet. Its just come out on the Kiehl’s website so I’m expecting it to hit our shores only in a couple of months.

Whilst I was intrigued by the Acai Berry range of products, I’m absolutely fascinated by this new Midnight Recovery Concentrate! I think its the word “elixir” on the bottle. It makes the serum sound so exotic and magical. A serum of youth does not have the same magical sound as the Elixir of Youth yes? 🙂

Guest Review: SK-II Facial Treatment Essence – A Miracle Water?

February 18, 2010 Paris B 52 Comments

PB Says: I used SK-II quite a few years ago. I’d used the whole range available then, and like Geekchic, my favourite item then was the Facial Treatment Essence or Miracle Water as it is labeled. As it has been a while for me (I no longer use SK-II for various reasons – even the FTE stopped working for me), I decided to have new SK-II user Geekchic review the SK-II Facial Treatment Lotion. This is her story 🙂

UPDATE 2018: I’ve since put the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence through its paces again 8 years after this post, and my updated review is here.

Having shut down my blog, without an outlet to channel my thoughts and opinions, Paris has very kindly given me a slot to hash my thoughts out (shut me up). I promise you will not hear very much from me!

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence or “Miracle Water”

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence – A review

A common street name for this product, I’m told, is Miracle Water. As much as I like this product, I’m a little hesitant about bestowing upon it the title “miracle”. I have no idea why I made this plunge into SK-II, to be honest. I happened to be in Myer on Bourke St. They happened to have a 15% discount on all makeup and skincare products for Myer One cardholders. And as they like to say in the show business, the rest is history.

I’ve been using this steadily for a month now and it’s safe to say that it’s a product that works on my very temperamental skin. So temperamental that I’ve not found a single Clinique product which works on me. A little background on my skin texture, it’s dry to very dry in winter but now that we’re heading right smack into summer, my skin is slowly returning to its normal state. It’s not oily nor dry; yes, I’m thankful for it but I’m often bugged by dry patches and fine lines.

Vichy LiftActiv CxP Eyelid Lifting cream for your Peepers

February 4, 2010 Paris B 15 Comments

Vichy LiftActiv CxP Anti-Wrinkle Eyelid Lifting care

I’m very good about sticking to a skincare regime for my face. But I tend to be a bit slack about my eyes. Eyes are the windows to the soul and yet I’m a little erratic about using eye creams. So this time, while test running the new Vichy LiftActiv CxP Anti-Wrinkle Eyelid Lifting cream, I made it a point to be more diligent about using it day and night.

Vichy LiftActive CxP Yeux or eye cream promises to reduce dark circles and puffiness around the eye area and correct wrinkles and lift the skin around the eyes. Slight problem – I do not have deep wrinkles, very saggy skin or dark circles. Hmm…

That little problem aside, I found myself liking this eye cream. Unlike many other eye creams I’ve used, the texture of the cream is a little thick. It squeezes out of the tube thick which is rather deceptive. I squeeze out some on my 4th finger, spread it out with the 4th finger of my other hand and then apply to the eye area, with slight pressure and then tapping it in.
