Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Mist – High Standard to Live up to

July 8, 2010 Paris B 20 Comments

Hada Labo recently expanded their Super Hyaluronic Acid range locally and one of the new items is this Moisturizing Mist. It generated a lot of interest when I first showed it to you and I’ve been using it since then.

Granted, its not a month, as I give all skincare, but I thought it was alright to tell you how I feel about it now. I’ve run out of the SHA Moisturizing Lotion so I thought I’d use this as a substitute.

First off, I don’t recommend it as a substitute to the SHA Moisturizing Lotion. It does not give the same sort of effect to my skin. It spritzes out a very fine mist on the skin and then, I pat it in. It absorbs quickly, but for some reason, makes my skin feel a little dry. No bouncy feel like that the lotion gives me. I guess its not meant to be a substitute, but more of a complement. I guess also the SHA Moisturizing Lotion has just raised the expectation bar for Hada Labo products for me!

A plus point is that because the mist is so fine, it helps set makeup very well, and when spritzed over makeup during the day, it doesn’t muss up your hard work. Because its small (just 40ml) its very portable and here’s the deal – you can take it on board planes without problems because its flies under the 100ml limit and is non aerosol!

Save & Splurge: Garnier Light Brightening Eye Roll On and Dior Capture Totale Instant Rescue Eye Treatment

July 2, 2010 Paris B 14 Comments

When I last told you about the Guerlain Anti-puffiness eye patch, I spent so much time on the floor looking for lost jaws after revealing the price, I thought I’d offer a quick (and maybe more affordable) option – hence Save and Splurge!

Save and Splurge is where I show you 2 similar items by 2 different brands that I have tried. They may not work quite the same way, but it’ll offer you options for your wallet for a similar effect/product. Do note however, that it is based on products I have tried, so whilst there are many save and splurge options out there, these are my views. You can find them under the category of Challenges.

Taking my cue from the Guerlain eye patch, we start with eye treatments.

Save: Garnier Light Brightening Eye Roll on (RM21.90)

So many people love this and its pretty affordable too because you can get it on sale. The Garnier Roll On rolls on the eye area and cools it down. It does not deflate my eye bags as quickly as the Guerlain patches did but it feels lovely on.

Roll it on, pat off the excess and relax. Other than the lovely cooling effect on my eye area, it didn’t do much for me in terms of reducing eye bags, or dark circles.

Guerlain Super Aqua Anti Puffiness Smoothing Eye Patch – Eye bags begone!

July 1, 2010 Paris B 33 Comments

Every 4 years, I shake off my label of “football idiot” and wear the mantle of “football fan” – maybe not quite fan, but once every 4 years… like NOW! I stay up past my bedtime and wake up at unGodly hours to catch football matches on telly, scream at the referee for being blind and yell “Goal!” and “Offside!” along with the best of ’em. Yes folks, I’m a FIFA World Cup fan – not a football fan per se. (and I don’t support any team 😛 )

Incidentally, while typing this post, I kept typing “foodball” – that would be fun won’t it? 😛 So with late nights, little sleep and then suddenly being slammed with an avalanche of work, I have Louis Vuitton trunks under my eyes. Not mere eye bags for this snob 😛

Here’s a set of eye patches I’ve been trying out. I mean I like my bags, but heck no! Not under my eyes!

These eye patches are part of Guerlain’s Super Aqua range and are said to be “anti-puffiness smoothing eye patches”. “Anti-puffiness” That’s a good thing! Now how does it fare?

Guest Review: Biotherm White D-Tox Bright Cell Serum and Moisturizer

June 16, 2010 Paris B 1 Comment

When I was looking for a guest reviewer for whitening/brightening products, I knew who to turn to – Jenn of Lipglosseater is a fan of whitening skincare too! This is her review of 2 of the Biotherm White D-Tox Bright Cell products.

Most people who knew me will probably know that I’m totally devoted to the Lancome Neurowhite whitening range. So when Paris contacted me to test these two products out, I thought it’d be nice to break out of my usual whitening skin care regime and give them a whirl and see if I like them or not! 😀

Biotherm White D-Tox [Bright-Cell] Intense Brightening Hydra-Plumping Cream – Day and Night – RM170 for 50ml / 1.69 Fl. Oz.

Description on the box:

The “intense brightening hydra-plumping day and night cream”, with a fresh, meltin texture, contains hydrating ceramides and whitening agents. From the first applications (lol, hurrah for print errors! XD), the face is beautifully radiant. Day after day, skin appears intensely brightened.

biotherm White D-Tox Bright Cell cream

This cream has just the right “creamy” consistency for me – not too heavy / greasy and spreads easily. It absorbs into the skin quickly too! I personally find this too heavy to use in the day though it’s marketed as a day and night cream. This has a lovely fresh scent that I like! 🙂

This cream comes in a heavy glass jar with a screw off lid. I personally have a love-hate relationship with products that come in jars because on one hand, you can scoop out every morsel left of cream from a jar, but on the other hand, its not really that hygienic to expose the cream to air so often! Nevertheless, this product travels well, if you don’t mind the extra weight!

After testing this product out for about three weeks now, I find that this made my skin really plump and soft! Since I’ve been using a whitening range prior to using this one, I can’t tell if it whitens well or not, but it does work wonderfully to maintain the previous radiance and even-tonedness (is there such a word? Lol!) I got from the previous product.

All in all I think that this is a wonderful product to add to one’s whitening regime! I personally can’t think of anything I dislike about this product! It does contain mineral oil though, so those of you who’re iffy about this particular ingredient might want to stay away. I’ll definitely repurchase when I run out! 🙂
