I reported quite a nasty reaction to the Biotherm Aquasource Non Stop cream previously. So when Biotherm said “Here’s a new Aquasource Oil Free Moisturizer. Tell us what you think?” I shuddered. No really, I did! It was with great fear and trepidation that I started using it… and then I wonder why I was ever so scared 😛
Biotherm’s new Aquasource Oil Free Moisturizer is formulated for oily skins. Recognizing that people will oily skins might forsake moisturizer because of the heavy oily feel, they formulated an oil-free version because we know that oily skinned folks need the hydration too.
The lotion comes in a pump form and has a lovely fresh citrus smell. I like that element of it. Wakes me up a treat in the mornings. I use 2 pumps in the palm of my hand, smooth between my palms and apply on my face. Since its oil free, its got a light gel texture that absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves it feeling and looking matte. Nice when you’re putting makeup on – it doesn’t slip and slide.
Unfortunately, whilst lovely texture for this humid tropical climate we live in, I find it does not quite do the job quite well for me, offering insufficient hydration. It must be said that I’m no spring chicken and my skin is now turning combination-dry where its slightly oily along the T-zone and quite substantially drier on my cheeks. So, I need something more “powerful” for my cheeks and this one isn’t quite it. I’m not about to try the improved formula in the pink tub for drier skins though. Its what broke me out last time. If you do have oily skin and detest the heavy feel of most moisturizers on your skin, you could give this a try.
