Review: Lancome Blanc Expert Spot Eraser and Blanc Expert Whitening Bio-Cellulose Masks

April 9, 2009 Paris B 26 Comments

I’m a whitening sceptic. That is to say, I don’t believe that any product out there can “whiten” your skin short of bleaching it. So, if you come across a product that claims to substantially lighten your skin after a short period of usage, I’d be very wary.

So, I believe instead in “brightening”. Skin brightening to me is where the product may lighten some pigmentation and make your skintone more even so your facial skin looks clearer. However, it will not turn black to white and if you are tanned, you should not expect to have lighter skin but you might expect a more even skin tone which might have the perception of having lighter toned skin. This is not a scientific dissertation by any means, just my thoughts so do feel free to agree/disagree at will 🙂

With this firmly in mind, I recently put 2 whitening products to the test – Lancome Blanc Expert Spot Eraser and Lancome Blanc Expert Whitening Cellulose Mask.

Lancome Blanc Expert Spot Eraser (RM315)

The Spot Eraser comes in a long tube and a pointed nozzle. The lotion is white and liquid and has a scent. I rather like it so I’m not fussed. I also liked how it felt on my skin.

The Spot Eraser is supposed to target the melanin and “kill” it at the “roots” so you have less pigmentation and freckles. It is a very targeted treatment skincare to reveal transparent “white” skin and is more effective on stubborn melanin spot. I have fair skin so pigmentation and freckles show though and makes the skin look blotchy some times. The Spot Eraser is supposed to tackle this problem on the spot.

However, I did not notice any real marked difference in the pigmentation level. I deliberately tested this on some very stubborn pigmentation areas but there was not much discernable lightening. That said, it too did not get worse and elsewhere on my face, my skin did look more even toned. With only 1 month’s use I reckon its too early to rant or rave at it (I always believe that whitening products work on a long term basis) so I’m quite ambivalent. The masks however I love love love!

Elemis – Collagen Marine Anti-Aging Luxury Skincare

March 12, 2009 Paris B 20 Comments

When you hit the big 3-0 suddenly you start wearing your skin looser. Suddenly, late nights start to take their toll and your skin starts looking dull and tired and ohmygoodness! Is that a fine line I see on my forehead/ around my eyes / around my mouth?

Not that I’m not enjoying being in my 30s. I’m having more fun in my 30s than I ever did in my 20’s so yay to all 30-somethings! 😀

When I was introduced to the Elemis luxury brand of anti-aging skincare which originates from the UK, I was more than a little intrigued and not a little sceptical. Was this going to be another La Mer fiasco for me? I have used La Mer Creme before – it did zilch for my skin and instead turned me into a zit battleground from which I’m still bearing the scars of war.

elemis skincare

Elemis is a brand from the UK that started out by being sold in spas. I call them a luxury skincare brand because their prices are steep and out of reach of the masses but I might find myself saving up for one or two products that have done wonders for me. If you are in your 20s or early 30s then it is too early to use anything anti-aging and Elemis will not be for you – its not bad for you but its just wasted on your young skin. But if you are mid-30s and up, then Elemis might be something you could be wanting to save up for.

The star product for me and it would appear, for many people is the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.  Continue Reading

Review: Skincare: Garnier Skin Naturals Light Whitening Infusion Tissue Mask

May 24, 2008 Paris B 17 Comments

I was traveling all day yesterday the length and breadth of the country… ok its a slight exaggeration but I was on the road for most of the day under the hot sun (thank goodness I had my sunscreen applied liberally!). When I got home in the evening, I was dog tired. After my shower, my eyes fell on this Garnier Skin Naturals Light Whitening Infusion Tissue Mask I’d had on my dresser for a while.

I decided on a whim to try it to see what it was like. So, after cleansing my face, I opened up the foil pack and spread the mask on my face. Unfortunately, I cannot find any information about the Garnier Skin Naturals Light range online except for this old article. From what I can tell by an online search, the Garnier Light range is targeted at the Asian market where all whitening ranges are targeted. Continue Reading

Tip: Home Remedy: Make an Aspirin mask

February 22, 2008 Paris B 11 Comments

I don’t take aspirin for headaches or pains – it isn’t common here in Malaysia where paracetamol is usually more popular. That said, I learnt of a useful tip of using aspirin as a facial mask and here is my recipe for the aspirin mask.Continue Reading

I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskinca I remember when I first tried the #antipodesskincare Aura Manuka Honey Mask. It blew my mind away! Soothes skin. Boosts hydration and just makes you feel like you have the best skin ever! Not kidding. If you have a spot or irritated skin, it calms it down and helps get rid of your spots too. Honey is anti bacterial after all, so it’s a great multitasker.
I also love the Manuka Honey Skin brightening Day Cream. It’s light but creamy and sinks into the skin. I’ve reviewed them both on the blog in the past. If you run a search for Antipodes, you’d also notice how much I love the brand! 😁
I’m super late with this but if you’re planning to purchase any of these 3 Manuka honey items from TNS Skinlab, the code MYWSTUFF10 will give you an extra 10% off (until tomorrow 31 Dec) I highly recommend grabbing the Aura mask. You’ll never want to be without (I always have a backup!)
Thanks for the gift @tnsskinlab and I must apologise for my tardiness 😩 I’ll learn to cope better from next week!
Now I have to scuttle and write my year end musings. Some traditions must be kept! 😜

It’s my first year doing retail and honestly, I’d never been so busy! The year-end rush is unreal! But busy is good, right? At least that’s what I tell myself 😂
While I pack up gift boxes of treats for doggies 🐶 (I’ve tied so many ribbons I’ve finally started to get it right!) #loccitanemalaysia makes it easy to shop for humans 😅 at experienceloccitane.com with their L’Occitane en Demande service. Place your order, and pick up in store or have it delivered.
Had a bit of breather today and put together a little video. Blink and miss my little monster 🐶 helping me shop! Not sponsored but I did receive a gift from L’Occitane, for which my sun-exposed, dry dog-walking skin thanks you!
Haven’t done any Christmas shopping this year. It has only just struck me that it’s but mere days away! 😨 Have you done yours?
