Cleansing Cream

I double cleanse daily, so I had to see if the Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse holds up to scrutiny

October 3, 2019 Paris B 6 Comments

It’s no secret that I am quite a fan of most Pixi Beauty skincare products. They are generally fairly affordable, and effective. That’s pretty much what we seek in most skincare don’t we?

And there is one specific Pixi product I get asked about a lot – the Pixi Double Cleanse, created with the popular skincare guru Caroline Hirons. There has been much I’ve learned from Ms. Hirons (and some that I disagree with) but if there’s one thing I can agree on, it’s the importance of a double cleanse.

I’d talked about double cleansing way back when I started this blog in 2007. It was a cleansing concept I’d picked up from using Japanese skincare, and it’s stuck with me since. People used to roll their eyes at me back in the day, because it seems like so much work; but now, it’s become an established norm, and touted by big names in skincare. So I’m now feeling somewhat vindicated for being a pioneer in this area 😛

The Pixi Double Cleanse gets a lot of raves, so naturally, I had to see what the hype was about.

The Herb Farm Cleansers are lush, gentle and non-stripping on skin

February 18, 2019 Paris B 3 Comments

I have veered away from using gel type cleansers these days, because they are, for the most part, too drying for my drier skin type. In fact, if your skin feels dry and tight every time you wash your face, I recommend that you switch away too.

That said, you cannot deny how refreshing a gel or foaming type cleanser feels. It just makes your skin feel cleaner! Psychological, but also a fact as the foam action does lift dirt and grease, and wash off better.

A while ago, I shared some gel cleansers I’d tried that I found to be non-drying and therefore suitable for those who prefer using a gel type cleanser but want something more gentle that does not strip the skin.

What d’ya know? I’ve found another! 😀 More interestingly, I find myself preferring the gel cleanser over the cream cleanser – and that’s no mean feat!

Trying out some natural skincare freshly picked on The Herb Farm

May 16, 2018 Paris B Leave a Comment

I was first introduced to one of my favourite skincare brands – Antipodes – through TNS Skinlabs and since then, I have implicitly trusted the selection of brands they carry or offer for me to try. Some hits, like Antipodes, some misses (never liked the Shikai haircare). So, when I was offered a chance to try another natural skincare range from New Zealand, I agreed to have a go.

This was The Herb Farm, a brand I’d never heard of before this.

I was gifted with a set of trial-sized skincare, that is fairly affordable if you’d like to try something new, and is a good enough size to last you about a month or a little more. The set I have is The Herb Farm Normal (including sensitive skin) skincare mini set and there is another for oily-combination skin.

The Herb Farm is a family owned business in New Zealand, and their skincare range focuses on using natural ingredients, using herbs and herbal remedies. I can’t deny I was quite intrigued.

Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser : Affordable, Effective but does not smell of roses

April 23, 2018 Paris B 13 Comments

I’d been using the Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser for a while now, and didn’t realize that it was fairly new to the Pixi Beauty range till I tried to find some reviews on it. To my surprise, there aren’t many out there. I’m not sure now when I bought it. It could be early this year (2018) but it was during one of my Cult Beauty purchases. I must have tossed it into my cart without thinking too much about it.

I have used the famed Glow Tonic and like it. I also have tried a few other products by Pixi Beauty – the Rose Oil, Glow Tonic wipes, Double Cleanse, Cleansing Balm, just to name a few – but I often forget to showcase them LOL 😛 It was opportune that I have received a few inquiries about the Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser, after showing a picture on Instagram a while ago, that I finally remembered to blog about this one.

I am partial to a cream cleanser, and this being by Pixi, which I have high regards for as a brand, had me curious.
