Wanna hazard a guess at what this might be?
A tricorder from Star Trek? Part of a traffic light turning green?
No prizes but it’ll be fun! Go on, take a guess 🙂

There was a blog from Sweden that I loved – bjooti.net. I won’t link to it because I found out over the weekend that the blogger has shut down the blog and removed its archives. I couldn’t read Swedish of course – I’m not that linguistically inclined – but Google translator is a huge help, and her gorgeous pictures spoke for themselves.
One of the reasons advanced was that it was just getting too much to keep pushing to stay in front – to be the latest with the newest news all the time (being one of the top European beauty bloggers, she was). It left her no time to herself because our blogs for many of us, are a hobby and after 3+ years she decided enough was enough. I’m sad about it of course – she was a lovely blogger, but it also made me think.
I’m hitting that 3+ years bump – we’ll turn 4 in just 8 months! And I’ll be honest that the whole chasing for new news thing got overwhelming and has been overwhelming. I’m thankful of course, that I’m able to indulge in my little hobby, and thankful that I am being consistently fed with news about… you guessed it, the latest and newest, and I’m eternally grateful and thankful that so many of you out there find the information helpful and useful.
But I’ve decided to make a little change here at My Women Stuff. It was a decision I made (and one I’ve implemented) before I learnt about bjooti.net but that was the little push I needed and I thought I’d tell you about it.

Happy Saturday Ladies!
I was clearing out my stuff and came across some empty or near empty containers I was going to send to be recycled so I thought I’d quickly tell you about some recycling drives I’ve come across recently.
I don’t like the tags that accompany months or days like “Earth Day” or “Earth Hour” or “Go Green Month”. Wait… I’m not sure if the last one exists – it might be encouraging you to turn into the Incredible Hulk – who knows *shrug*
But I do appreciate the effort taken by some companies in being a bit more eco-friendly or in encouraging people to pause and think about the environment. Here are just a few I’ve run across lately.
The new concept store is more earth friendly by reducing the use of energy, water and using recyclable furniture & props. The use of FSC-certified (forest stewardship council) wood, silicone-free paint, water-based varnish and energy saving electrical equipment enables the store to save up to 40% electrical consumption. Oh and L’Occitane does refill packaging for selected items which is friendly on the pocket too!
I’m taking back 4 empty bottles to Kiehl’s to be recycled (I hope that means reprocessed and not refilled LOL!) and I’m told that I’ll receive a deluxe sample product as a thank you. You get product samples with every 4 full size products brought in, so be sure to hold onto the recycling card they give you! Tip: Hair and Body products finish up faster 😛

I had a hectic weekend pounding the shopping belt of Singapore and catching up with my sister late into the night so sleep was sacrificed. I got home late Sunday night and had to be up early for work on Monday. Needless to say, my body was aching the whole of Monday (getting older does that to you :P) and I was feeling like a zombie. And then, I open the newspapers on Monday and am confronted with this article about sleep.
In gist, the latest findings are that more sleep may be better for you, because less sleep can kill you earlier 😛 Yet the study balances itself out by saying that too much sleep may be bad too. So the optimum seems to be 6-8 hours of sleep a day. I guess that rules out the Rip van Winkle sleep therapy 😛
I personally think how much sleep you need depends on your own body. I know of people who can function on little sleep because that’s all their body needs to recharge. Perhaps their batteries are the quick charging kind 😛
I on the other hand, need a minimum of 8 hours uninterrupted sleep before I can fully function. The only time I can get by with very little sleep is if the adrenaline is rushing e.g. during exam periods or stressful work times. Otherwise, its 8 hours or be an unproductive zombie the rest of the day. So having mild insomnia really sucks for me! Thankfully, I’ve since worked out 2 products that pages Mr. Sandman to send me on my way to Dreamland pronto!
