Pureology 100% Sulfate-Free Vegan Hair Care : Save Water. Give Water Campaign 2013

June 15, 2013 Paris B 4 Comments

pureology save water give water campaign

Pureology.

If I didn’t already know it was a brand of hair care products, I’m not sure I’d have figured out what it was. What makes it so special, is that it is a brand that is 100% Sulfate-free and Vegan. So, all of you looking for sulfate-free shampoo? You got it! Looking for something to complement your animal-derivative free lifestyle? You got it!

I have never used it though. Its only available at salons so it does make it a little more inaccessible to the regular Jane like you and I who may never stumble on a salon selling Pureology products. I was recently introduced to the brand, and also to their Save Water. Give Water Campaign. Thought I’d quickly tell you about it 🙂

My Introduction to Aveda Hair Products and a “Datin” hair makeover

February 1, 2013 Paris B 53 Comments

Aveda hair products are not new to me, as I’d heard about them before this but never used them. I used to see a small inconspicuous salon in Bangsar Village 2 but I did not know that they had been relaunched on a bigger scale in Pavilion KL, with a bright shiny new large store (or as they will have it, “experience center”) and a hair salon to come.

Interestingly, just before I met with the people from Aveda, I was having lunch with my blog designer who hails from the USA, and she told me that she had been using their products for a long time! In fact, she told me that Aveda does nice makeup products too! Hmm… I don’t think we get them here though.

What Aveda is more known for is their hair products. At least that’s what I know them for 🙂

The brand bases itself on Ayurvedic principles and uses botanical extracts in their products and essential oils and where possible, are supposed to be natural, SLS-free and are manufactured in an environmentally friendly factory. My experience with natural hair products has been rather touch and go. They just don’t seem as effective as the chemically laden ones, but I was assured that the Aveda products are very effective.

Have you tried any products by Aveda and would like to share your experience with them?

MWS Picks Budget Beauty No. 2: 5 more things I love that cost under RM50

November 21, 2012 Paris B 49 Comments

budget buys under RM50

Some of you may remember that a while ago, I did a post where I picked 10 things I loved that cost under RM50. I had good fun doing it, because it reminds me that even as I traipse amongst the hallowed beauty halls of department store beauty, there are some gems to be found in the pharmacies, and for a good price. I hope to share my budget beauty faves with you so this will be a recurring series, as it were 🙂

Every now and again, I’ll pick a couple of my favourite budget beauty products and share them with you. Today, I pick out 5 more items I love. With gift giving season fast approaching, these wallet friendly items make great gifts, won’t break the bank and importantly, they WORK! 🙂

When feeling Lush, let Angels dance on Bare Skin and your hair get some Karma Komba

October 18, 2012 Paris B 65 Comments

Searching for a Lush store is quite simple. Lift your head, sniff the air and follow your nose. At least that’s how I used to do it in London. I used to pick up stuff for friends and I knew there was a store in Covent Garden but wasn’t sure where, so I just sniffed the air and voila! It brought me right to the steps of the store, before I start sneezing. Boy! Lush stores do smell strong!

I’m not sure if it works the same way in Singapore, which is the closest place for us to get Lush handmade cosmetics. In fact we don’t even have to leave the country, because the online Lush Singapore store ships internationally. Don’t all stampede over there now yes? At least finish reading my post first 😉

lush package

I was recently sent a couple of Lush items to try, and also told about the international shipping thing. Like searching for the store, you will know when your Lush package is here. The distinctive scent emanating from within the box is all you need to know!

The last few times I was in London, I picked up some of the soap bars to try, but I eventually learnt that my favourite Lush item is the Happy Hippy shower gel. I never reviewed it did I? Darnit! Its good stuff! It smells gloriously of citrus and grapefruit and is such a happy scent. I used to buy the little 100ml bottles so I could carry them around with me. I can’t even stock it up because these things have little preservatives and will expire quite quickly. So, its good to know I can now get it closer to home 🙂 So what did I end up with this time? 2 very interesting products – Karma Komba solid bar shampoo and Angels on Bare Skin.
