What I think is worth checking out in the Chanel le Blanc Pierres de Lumiere 2019 makeup collection

March 27, 2019 Paris B 9 Comments

Truth to tell, I was going to skip over the Chanel le Blanc 2019 Pierres de Lumiere makeup collection. This was more so after I was told, just after I’d received the products, that some of them are already out of stock at the boutique!

Whaaattt?!

It makes me feel a little redundant, truth to tell.

Also, I felt that the colours weren’t quite me. le Blanc collections tend to be heavy on light colours and pastels and truth to tell, can come across as insipid.

But there was one item in the collection that had caught my eye the day I saw it in the Chanel beauty boutique. It was the Tissages de Chanel blush in Tweed Beige. I thought it looked quite unique.

And then, I started playing around with the colours, and I realised that they were actually wearable, and some of the key items are permanent items. So I present to you the Chanel le Blanc Pierres de Lumiere makeup collection 🙂

Chanel Spring Summer Makeup 2019 Vision d’Asie: L’Art du Detail is beautiful bar one confusing detail

February 15, 2019 Paris B 15 Comments

I think by now you’d realise that I’m a bit of a Lucia Pica fan-girl. Lucia Pica has been the Creative Director of Chanel beauty since 2016 when she kicked off the Le Rouge collection for Fall 2016.

Since then, I anticipate each beauty collection released from Chanel, knowing each time, that I will face a little surprise. Often pleasant. Thus far, I have yet to be disappointed.

For Spring-Summer 2019 Vision d’Asie: L’Art du Detail, Lucia Pica drew inspiration from light, colour and texture in Japan. Eyes are kept bright in the Les 9 Ombres eye palette (I don’t have it, and haven’t yet had the chance to see it but it’s similar in layout to this one from last year)

Lip are bright and lush in matte velvet textures. But it was one new item in the collection that had me going “What on earth is that? How do I use it? Will I even use it?!”

I’m loving these 8 things and I think you will want to save your ‘ang pow’ money for them

February 1, 2019 Paris B 14 Comments

I have said that I do not want to be that blogger who pushes gift guides in your face. But I suppose I do, once a year, come the Lunar (Chinese) New Year.

hourglass vanish foundation stick,

However, it’s not conventionally a gift guide per se, as we don’t usually practice gifting of this nature at this time of year. So, it’s not a guide on what you can buy for others. Instead, it’s a gift guide for yourself – an idea on what beauty related items you could save your “ang pow” (lucky red packet) money to treat yourself 😀

That’s really the best part about the Chinese New Year isn’t it? Sure, it can feel like a hassle sometimes, and we are always pressed to look our best during the festivities, but “ang pow” makes everything a wee bit better. Those of us receiving it anyway! LOL! 😀 I know many people who read this are now at the giving end, rather than the receiving end, but there are always little windfalls that come by now and again – so consider this your “gift guide” to yourself 😉

So here are 8 items I think are absolutely worth saving your “ang pow” money for, and why I say so 🙂

When the By Terry Nude-Expert Duo Stick Foundation promised a “Camera-ready flawless effect” they weren’t kidding!

January 21, 2019 Paris B 6 Comments

You know how some products are like a slow burn? They look ‘meh’ to you at first, but then as you go along and use it, it suddenly wriggles and nestles itself into your routine. This is how I feel about the By Terry Nude-Expert Duo Stick Foundation.

At first, I was a little scornful of it.

“Here is another gimmick product!” I thought during the product launch a few months ago. Not content with just making a stick foundation, By Terry has made it dual-function. Half of the stick is a foundation, and the other half is a highlight.

“Won’t all that shine make me look like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz?” I wondered to myself. It would have been rude to voice it, I think 😛

However, as it turned out, I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong.
