Blush

Your say: Do you use applicators included in makeup palettes and compacts?

February 13, 2019 Paris B 31 Comments

This is something that’s been bugging me for a while. I notice that new makeup items often come with an applicator. This is true, whether it comes from the pharmacy, or if it is a department store or luxury brand.

I open a compact holding a powder blush, and out will fall a little, scratchy cheek brush.

Or I open an eyeshadow palette, and out drops sponge-tipped applicators or random, skinny dual-ended little brushes.

makeup applicators

More than once, I’d have to scramble around the floor picking up these little projectiles that fly out of my makeup compacts, much to my consternation.

So my question for you today is this – Do you use the applicators included with makeup? Are they good for anything?

The Laura Mercier Stardust Radiant Glow Palette will make you glow and shine in the City of Lights

December 3, 2018 Paris B 19 Comments

When I showed some pictures on Instagram of the Laura Mercier City of Lights Holiday 2018 collection, I received a surprisingly high number of inquiries about this particular palette. The Laura Mercier Stardust Radiant Glow Palette is a limited edition palette for this season, and I don’t really blame anyone for having their eye caught. This is quite a stunner of a palette to look at!

I will tell you right off that if you love shimmer and an eye-catching shine on the skin, then this palette will likely be right up your alley for that. But if you’re in the market for something a little more subtle, and don’t favour warm tones on skin, then you may want to look elsewhere.

Beauty Hors d’oeuvres: Unlocking the secrets of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette

September 28, 2018 Paris B 2 Comments

I wish I didn’t have to rush this “review” out, and I almost never showcase 2 items from the same brand back to back. This time, I am constrained to, as I’ve gotten so many questions about it, which means there is definitely a demand for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette. My fingers couldn’t keep up with all the questions flooding me on Instagram LOL!

This is the palette in question. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette, that is named “Unlocked”. It boasts 6 brand new shades of finishing powder, bronzer, blush and metallic strobe powder, and it is the first 100% vegan palette by Hourglass. This is in line with their commitment to go cruelty-free and vegan by 2020. Kudos to them!

But what surprises me is that we will be seeing another Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette pop up next month. Considering that these palettes are limited edition items, it surprises me that Hourglass will release 2 similar palettes so close to each other (granted colours are different).

But here are some quick thoughts I have about this Hourglass Unlocked Palette, having used it a grand total of 2 times LOL! So, cast your eye a little warily, because this isn’t an in-depth review ok? 😀

These prettty Marc Jacobs Air Blush powders will leave your cheeks looking air-brushed!

August 31, 2018 Paris B 10 Comments

I’m surprised that the Marc Jacobs Air Blush doesn’t get more air-time. Aside from the quick flash in the pan when they were launched about 2 years back, they are surprisingly absent from most people’s Instagram shots. I thought they were Instagram-worthy, don’t you?

I was very fortunate to have been sent the blushes in a PR package, although to this day, I don’t know who sent them, and who I should thank. It niggles at me! I’ve shared them now and again online, but really, they deserve a feature on the blog, because these are one of my favourite blushes.

When you realise that I own a LARGE DRAWER filled with blushes, you’ll know that’s saying something! LOL! 😀
