BB Cream

The Diorsnow BB Creme now comes in a Light Shade for those who found the original too dark and pink

May 9, 2012 Paris B 25 Comments

Last year, I told you about the Diorsnow BB Creme, one of the much more pricey BB creams in the market. Like many brands that came out with BB Creams, Dior came out with just 1 shade which was supposed to suit everyone. Well, it didn’t, if you were too fair, and it still doesn’t if you are very tanned or very warm toned.

At that time, it worked for me. Just about. I used only very little (this is true of all BB creams application) and so once spread out on my face, it looked alright. It is actually one of the very few BB creams I actually quite like using. I use it as a light foundation and its great for taking on holiday or for weekends when all I want is a light coverage.

Then, Dior decided to come out with a BB Cream that was lighter in colour to cater for everyone who was complaining that the original one was too dark for them. That’s quite good news actually, because if the first one was a fair match for me, this new one is a GOOD match and gives a skin brightening effect too, which I prefer. I’ll show you the comparison swatches below.

New! Diorsnow x Icelandic Glacial Water Skincare and Makeup Preview

March 30, 2012 Paris B 32 Comments

We hear of cosmetics collaborations all the time these days, but how often do you hear of a cosmetic collaboration with a … water company? Riiight. Not just any water, mind you. This is the Icelandic Glacial Water company, where the source of the bottled water comes from Iceland’s  Ölfus Spring, one of nature’s largest natural springs where the water has been filtered through volcanic rock. The key distinction of this water, other than the fact that its one of the purest in the world, is the high alkaline content with a PH8.4 apparently. And how is this relevant? Apparently, alkaline water is good for us, to balance the acidity of our skins.

Interestingly, I recently met someone who told me about a home filtration device that makes the water alkaline and that drinking this water is supposedly better for health. I can’t say I’m not intrigued by this, especially coming on the heels of the Diorsnow range of skincare infused with Icelandic Glacial Water. Funny how all this bits of trivia I collect assemble into something coherent at the end of the day 😀

The 2012 version of the Diorsnow skincare range contains Icelandic Glacial Water with its alkaline goodness that is said to be better for our skin. Combining the water with the Diorsnow technology, the results are supposed to be clearer more translucent, radiant complexion. Wow. I’ve got some pictures below as well, of the Diorsnow makeup range which, as the name implies is shimmery and icey in design and feel. A very pretty ethereal type collection.

Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream : Moist As Yogurt (huh?)

November 23, 2011 Paris B 51 Comments

Alright ladies, if someone will want to pass the ketchup I’d like to eat my words now about not liking any BB Creams. Right after I make a momentous declaration like that, the cosmetics world erupts with BB Creams and I’m bombarded with them left and right. Some I like (Diorsnow BB Cream, Garnier BB Cream (I really like this and its affordable!)) but for the most part, I’m still ambivalent about them. At least I don’t hate them anymore 😛

Well, I’d just like to add one more to the “like” list – this is a very short list because I’m so picky. Its the Lioele Triple The Solution BB Cream. Odd name but there you go. Its a Korean brand so that might explain some of it away 😛

I must draw attention to what is printed on the tube “This product makes your skin moist as yogurt and hyaluronic acid supply moisture and nutrition“. “makes skin moist as yogurt“?? Seriously? 😯

Engrish aside, to be honest, I was prepared to dislike this BB cream because its a Korean formula and whilst I realise that the Koreans are the ones who popularized BB Creams and who, some say, have the best formula, I dislike most Korean made BB Creams because of poor colour match, oiliness and heavy texture. I know you are only supposed to use a tiny amount and I know about having to spread it thin. I also don’t buy into the all in one hype. To me, a BB Cream is a tinted moisturizer or tinted sunscreen or just a light tint of colour so I use it as foundation, nothing else. Now we’ve gotten that out of the way, I must say I like this Lioele Triple the Solution BB Cream.

Gah! Having to eat your words is very bitter 😛

Tsuya Tsuya BB Cream : A Sheer Pink Based BB Cream That Works Best As A Primer

September 1, 2011 Paris B 19 Comments

I don’t know how this happened, but I may have found a BB Cream that I have worn for more than 2 weeks straight without experiencing too much discomfort or hassle or just overall boredom. The BB Cream in question is the Tsuya Tsuya BB Cream which isn’t a brand nor a product I’m terribly familiar with.

Ths Tsuya Tsuya BB Cream, like many BB Creams have a host of promises. This one claims to contain Vitamin C and Deep Sea Minerals and has whitening, moisturizing and nourising properties and SPA30 with UVA protection for all skin types. Not too bad, but the Korean formulation threw me for a moment. You see, while I’ve had a fair experience with BB Creams from Japan and the Western brands, I’ve never really had a good experience with Korean formulations. They are what put me off BB Creams to start.

So naturally, its interesting to see how this one fares and why I might say that I quite like it 🙂
