Eyeliner

Want an eyeliner that won’t transfer at all? You want the Marc Jacobs Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayons

May 29, 2017 Paris B 10 Comments

Quite a few months ago, a giant box popped up on my door step all the way from the USA. No sender details, just like my mystery package from Bite last year. It was truly a mystery. But when I opened it, I let it a squeal of delight – and you know I don’t squeal.

Inside, was every single one of the (then) brand new Marc Jacobs Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon pencils! I was stoked and stumped all at once.

The Marc Jacobs Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon is the matte version of their bestselling Highliner Gel Eye Crayon, which contains shimmer. While I had been very impressed by the Marc Jacobs liquid eyeliner, I had yet to try their pencil liners. This came at an opportune time, for I’ve been using colourful eyeliners in place of eyeshadow for a while – call it laziness or just a bit of apathy.

Oh and this is going to sound really trite, but these liners are AMAZING! I swear, they don’t transfer at all, not one bit! That is what impressed me the most. Let me show you how they hold up to water in my little experiment.

Introducing my most recent eyeliner of choice – the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen

May 12, 2017 Paris B 3 Comments

Pixi beauty is now very well known for their Glow Tonic glycolic acid toner that makes a great introductory glycolic acid toner for those new to it. They have also improved on and expanded their skincare range, with affordable, effective skincare so many now associate them with skincare.

But what some of you may not have realised, is that Pixi was quite popular for their makeup before this. This was quite a few years back, when the brand was still rather small and unknown in the beauty world. Sometimes, it just takes one superstar hit to bring a brand onto the radar of beauty junkies. I thought I’d share one of my favourites from the brand – the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen.

pixi endless silky eye pen eyeliner

Mine bears the older packaging that has a lovely whimsical vibe with the outline flowers adorning the pale green body of the pencil. The new packaging is less romantic, but more streamlined, with the body of the pencil depicting the colour of the liner, for this is what it is – a pencil eyeliner.

To be honest, I much prefer the older, more whimsical vibe given off by Pixi. Their packaging used to have little fairies on the cover and in its designs, that I found cute. Granted, I then didn’t take them as seriously, but it stood out.

I have to tell you though, that I love these Endless Silky eyeliners! 🙂

This Spring 2017 decode how you view spring makeup in the Chanel Coco Codes collection

February 17, 2017 Paris B 8 Comments

You know guys, sometimes I feel so bad that I’m not a better blogger, getting out the news and reviews and what-not as they land. Things move so fast these days, that it’s really hard to stay on the ball. This is more so in the digital world, which leads nicely into the world of Chanel Coco Code, the Spring 2017 makeup collection.

A friend told me I shouldn’t beat myself up about the fact it’s been out for a while (and for some products, it might even be sold out already!) because I have an international audience who may still appreciate reading about it. At least I hope so! LOL! *fingers crossed*

chanel coco code spring 2017

This is, I believe the 3rd (or maybe 4th?) collection from Chanel’s Global Creative Makeup and Colour Designer, Lucia Pica, and I must say I’ve rather enjoyed her take on the seasonal collections thus far. Lucia Pica was the one who did the Le Rouge collection with the daring eyeshadow palette with the deep red shadow.

For Spring 2017, rather like their luxury rivals, Chanel has brushed aside the typical pale pastels or pinks and gone for a warmer toned, bolder coloured collection. This, they say, embodies Coco Chanel’s original use of colour. Lucia Pica says that these codes on how to wear the colours are for you to decide. Wear them bold or wear them light. Wear them together or wear them separately. Wear a deep purple lipstick in Spring – it’s your code! I love that sentiment – it’s just makeup – do what you want with it! 🙂

So, there are no hard and fast rules, and so I won’t write very much, just show you the pictures of the few items I have, for your consideration. You could tell me though, how you’d wear them 😉

This cool autumn season, take a walk with me in the Pupa Velvet Garden

November 30, 2016 Paris B 40 Comments

Life is funny sometimes. You go about, knowing of the existence of a brand for a while, but never get round to checking it out. That was pretty much the relationship between Pupa and I. Pupa is a bestselling Italian makeup brand, available locally at Sasa stores. I recently had the opportunity to check out their latest limited edition collection Velvet Garden, launched for Autumn 2016.

pupa velvet garden collection

As far as Autumn, or Fall collections go, this one is heavy on the purple and burgundy tones, meant to evoke a woman in a garden of purple blooms. According to Pupa International Makeup Artist Giorgio Forgani, the lips were the most important look. I have to say that after testing it out, the Pupa I’M Lipstick is truly the star of the collection. Sorry, not that beautiful blush 😀

I’ll be taking you quickly through the collection, so I hope you read through to the end – you snooze and you lose! 😉

The pup & I celebrating birthdays within weeks of The pup & I celebrating birthdays within weeks of each other 😁 Kiddo turns 4 and celebrated with specially made doggy burgers & fries.

I got him in early Jan 2020 so he’s only been with me less than 4 years but it’s been incredible to see how he’s grown (or not), and how he’s slowly mellowed with age (or not!). He’s still that crazy rambunctious puppy who terrorises other dogs, begging them to play and barking at them when they don’t. He’s a greedy fella who makes me think I’m the greatest chef in the world (in the dog world maybe!) and he still gets crazy eyes when excited.

But I’ve also found more white hair around his eyes and he sleeps in more and later now. He doesn’t even get up early enough to jump onto the bed as he used to 😔

4 years is practically adulthood in doggy years and I’m thankful that we have the opportunity to spend lots of time together even if I bemoan having to bring him everywhere I go.

Happy 4 years boy ❤️

This explains my lack of updates generally. Been very busy preparing for this, and amazingly enough, moving operations again! It’s a long sucky story but it might have just turned out for the best for us so as they say about windows opening and closing, sometimes you just have to go with the flow and look for the open window when doors close.
