Beauty Roundup

For the 2nd half of August 2007, my Beauty Roundup will feature fashion articles from various blogs and sites. I’m looking to revamp my wardrobe which prompted me look around the net for inspiration. Here are 5 articles/sites I found enlightening:

• The Daily Fashionista has a wonderful cheat category where we find out where we can get the look for less. No point spending lots of money on something trendy when you can get something similar without breaking the budget.
• The Fashionable Housewife gives us some great tips on some wardrobe must-haves based on your body shape. Its very enlightening and a good read overall.
• Vivawoman showcases how versatile a sweatshirt dress can be. It doesn’t need to look like you are wearing a sack!
• This isn’t fashion related, but I felt it was worth mentioning only because it is so cute. A safe sex just in case for your carry on luggage. 😉
• And because I love bags especially cute ones, here are some cute animal designs on bags and accessories from a new site – Oh my so cute!

In the process of looking for some articles on fashion in Malaysia, I did not come across many blogs that cover these hence the lack of local representation. It would be nice to have some coverage on the local fashion scene so if you do have such a site/blog and would like to be featured, drop me a line!

August heralds the start of the second half of the year and it also marks the change of makeup trends from bright Summery colours to darker more jewelled Fall tones. My 5 highlighted articles this fortnight as we turn into August are as follows:

• The Bag Snob shows us Versace’s latest offering – a Fox Fur Bag that appears to be inspired by Sesame Street. Read it and laugh.
• Paint Me Gorgeous reminded me of the usefulness of the Aspirin Mask for blemishes. It is cheap and efficient and leaves you with baby smooth skin – guaranteed!
• The Beauty Addict highlighted a gorgeous collection from The Body Shop Hot Tropics. I absolutely love the design on the eyeshadow.
• Raging Rouge showcased a mineral SPF by Peter Thomas Roth that is sunscreen in a powder form. Awesome idea! I need that!
• Over at A Touch of Blusher, we read all about falsies and how they have caused problems for makeup companies because of their exaggerated mascara claims.

This is the first installment of my Beauty Roundup series. If you wish to be featured, please read about my Beauty Roundup project and drop me a line. As this is my first installment, I would like to highlight some articles written in the recent weeks that I think would be interesting. It is no secret that these sites/blogs are ones I visit often and some of the authors are, I’m happy to say, friends.

• I go through periods of suffering from chapped or dry lips, so Tine’s review of the Kanebo Sensai Total Lip Treatment piqued my interest. You might find it useful too.
• I haven’t tried L’Occitane skincare, only their shea butter cream, but Sesame loves L’Occitane facial skincare like the L’Occitane Honey Comfort Mask. Her raves on this line makes me want to try it out!
• I used to frequent Tous – a Spanish jewellery line and I’m happy that Doris featured the cute little Tous Heart Pendant. The little bear never fails to make me go “Awww…”
• Lilian wrote a thought provoking post on whether Vitamin C was useless. I think this will appeal to all those who find themselves having problems when taking Vitamin C.
• The Geekchic wrote of a possible replacement for her beloved BeneFit Dandelion blush. I haven’t seen the pan of any of my blushes for a long long time, so its great to know that people actually do finish blushes! hehe…

I am going to start something new here and I hope to get the support of all beauty bloggers in and out of Malaysia. I know there aren’t many in Malaysia or maybe I just haven’t discovered you yet. But I hope to. I also hope to discover more beauty and fashion related sites outside of Malaysia.

What I plan to do is to spread the word about your site by doing a Beauty Roundup twice a month. I won’t ask for you to link me back in return – its your call – but I hope to highlight some interesting sites and articles from women who are interested in beauty and fashion and who love to keep themselves beautiful.
