The Water Flosser is the best personal care gadget gift you can ask for that you will use everyday

As much as I love beauty gadgets, I’m terrible at using them regularly. But there’s one personal care I got a few months ago, that I am sold on, and will use daily.

In fact, if I don’t use it daily, it feels like something’s missing from my routine.

This gadget is my water flosser, and if you know what’s good for you, you’d have it on your Christmas gift list 😀

I’d been familiar with water flossers, but was only aware of the brand called Waterpik. I took a look at them once before, but was floored at the price. They’re expensive!

I changed my dentist earlier this year and I told him that I was using an interdental brush. He told me it was good practice, but had I considered using a water flosser? I was intrigued.

The best part was that he told me I did not need an expensive one like Waterpik. Instead, I could just head to Shopee and pick up the XiaoMi Water Flosser, as it was just as effective.

Naturally, that’s what I did!

We all know we can get amazing deals on Shopee and Lazada if we wait for sale days and deals. So you can easily get the XiaoMi Water Flosser for anything from RM129-149 depending on how good a bargain hunter you are.

Here’s 4 reasons I love my water flosser to bits, and why you should be asking for one for Christmas, or your birthday – I kid you not 😀 In fact, put it on your to-buy list!

Cleans your teeth of food particles effortlessly

There are many brands of water flossers in the market now. I just saw one by Colgate as well, but the Xiaomi one is still the most affordable, and in my books, it works well enough.

I usually use it with the deep-clean head, which directs a pointed jet of water at your teeth. It really blasts out all the food particles that might be stuck, that you might not even be aware of! I usually brush my teeth first, and then finish off with the water flosser, and it amazes me that there are stuff still stuck, that my brushing might have missed!

The Xiaomi Water Flosser comes with 4 different attachments for different functions, but I usually only use the deep clean one.

It is a point to note that water flossing does not take the place of regular brushing, but works in tandem. I find that a water flosser is more effective than regular dental floss.

Food particles that get stuck in our teeth can result in cavities and/or gum disease, as it encourages bacteria to grow and damage our teeth and gums. Making sure you go to bed with clean teeth is good practice 🙂

Keeps gums healthy

I have some problems with my gums, which led me to seeing my current dentist, and which led me to using a water flosser. Ever since I started using one for the last 6 months or so, I have found that my gums have had less problems, and my teeth aren’t as sensitive as they used to be.

I don’t have problems with my gums getting inflamed or bleeding. The last few visits to the dentist (I was going for monthly visits for a while) saw my gums getting the thumbs up for health, and cleanliness.

I had read that you should direct the jet of water close to your gumline, to ensure that your teeth and gums are properly cleaned, and food particles, bacteria and plaque is removed. Granted, it will not replace regular visits to the dentist for thorough teeth cleaning, but it will stand you in better stead between visits.

Useful for hard to reach areas and close set teeth

One of the reasons I hated flossing with dental floss, was how gross it gets, and how hard it can be to reach the back teeth.

A water flosser solved that problem for me. It’s easy to direct it at hard to reach areas, and if you have teeth that are set close, or are uneven, it is great at blasting off trapped food particles, and getting the areas between teeth cleaner.

I have read that it is particularly useful for those who wear braces as well, as it gets in between the braces on the teeth, and cleans properly along the gumline.

I have also read people saying that a water flosser is messy, but I cannot imagine how much messier it is as compared to brushing. For me, it’s practically the same. You’re already in your bathroom, and it doesn’t take you an extra few minutes, and a bit of water to ensure your teeth and gums are thoroughly cleaned.

Teeth (and gums) feels incredibly clean

Unlike when using a dental floss, I find that my mouth, teeth and gums feel much cleaner after using a water flosser. I use an electric toothbrush, which is already much cleaner than manually brushing, but a water flosser was a game changer for me.

I couldn’t stop running my tongue over my teeth the first few times I used it, because I could not imagine just how much cleaner it felt. I am also a daily coffee drinker, so that comes with the attendant problems of staining. I have found that since I started using my water flosser, the staining seems to be slowed, which is a good thing of course 🙂

4 reasons to buy a water flosser

All in all, I have nothing but raves for a water flosser. There are a few different brands available in the market now, for all budgets, so have a look around and see which suits your budget best. Personally, I’m very happy with the Xiaomi Mijia Water Flosser, as it doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg, does a great job at keeping my teeth and gums healthy, and holds a charge for up to 2 weeks so I don’t have to keep recharging the battery! Win all around! 😀

Where I bought mine: I found the best deal on Lazada and if you offset your coins and any promotional vouchers, it can come in at a very reasonable price!

Do you use a water flosser?

If you haven’t, you have nothing to lose by trying it! I can promise you, your mouth will never have felt cleaner! 😀

Saw this on recently at the Taobao store at Mytown and I was intrigued. I was abit worried if the water pressure can loosen my permanent retainers. Will do more research on that. Anyway great write up and thanks for sharing on this product!

The jet of water varies depending on the nozzle you use and the strength can be controlled. Have a chat with your dentist and see what they say. Most people who wear braces swear by a water flosser! 🙂

Thank you for your in depth review which I just stumbled upon! I’m currently scouting for a water flosser and it’s just mind boggling how many brands are out there. would like to ask, is your Xiaomi unit is still going strong after a year? Is the water tank easy to detach and clean fully? thanks in advance!

Hi! Yes, it’s still working well, and the water tank is easy to detach and clean. I’m still using it daily! The battery still holds a charge well although there is a very slight depreciation as may be expected after a year. The only part that has worn out somewhat is the silicone tip on one of the head attachments, but I saw that I can get the heads separately online (albeit as a set if I’m not mistaken) so that’s what I’ll do.

An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to An “I’ll be out all day and need my makeup to stay on” look 😅 Super simple and using stuff I already own. How many do you recognise? 😅

For the base I think the key is the Nars setting powder which is basically a silica powder. Many brands have similar white powder for setting. I did this same look yesterday and it barely budged/faded by evening. Only lipstick needed a little topping up 😊

And this is about all the makeup I can handle these days 😂 no eye makeup cos I can’t be arsed 🤪

Posting for posterity because I like this photo 😆 Also hello! 😜

It’s interesting that when I meet people they always ask me “Are you still blogging?” which tells me they don’t read my blog anymore (cos if they did they’d know I am lol! Weekly generally, but still writing) Yet I don’t blame them because a lot of social credit is placed on one’s Instagram presence. This I fear, is an area I am lacking. I pop in every now and then, share stories that are totally unrelated to what people follow me for, then wonder why they unfollow lol! Other times, spider webs gather in the corners of my unused account. I don’t blame them. Not everyone wants to know what my dogs are up to 😜

Anyway I make no apologies. It’s ok if you follow. It’s ok if you don’t. It’s ok if you’re interested in stuff I do. It’s ok if you’re not. Life goes on for both you and I and ultimately, we just both want it to be happy. So do what makes you happy 😊 I’ll still share my beauty finds and I still blog once a week. I may share what I’m up to from time to time, or I may not. I can tell you that I’m keeping busy and that I have a lot on my plate, none of it glamorous unlike that of most content creators/influencers. It’s too boring for most for me to share here so I’ll just share the good bits - as Instagram intended 😂

But if you want to find me, you’ll know how 😊

The review for the product is somewhere on the blog mywomenstuff.com
Yes I know many of you are terrified of lizards 🦎🫣

But I liked this sunscreen - for the body. Even though it left a white cast. Even though it is hard to remove. It kept my arms protected through a weekend of brutal sun exposure and I survived without burning! ✌🏻
