Dehydrated skin is plumped up immediately with the lightweight Natura Plumping Bio-hydrating Serum

I was recently introduced to the newly launched Natura Plumping Bio-Hydrating Serum, and being the sucker for hydration that I was, I immediately dropped it into my current rotation. It was opportune of course, that I had just run out 🙂

I was intrigued to have a go, as I generally fare quite well with Natura brand skincare products, and well, hydration is key, always.

Natura Plumping Bio-Hydrating Serum

According to Natura, the Plumping Bio-Hydrating Serum is a triple hyaluronic acid booster with a triple action. It contains Fevillea prebiotic and triple hyaluronic acid 1.5% that fills and hydrates all the skin layers with immediate, progressive and lasting effect.

From the Brazilian biodiversity extracted from the seeds of the plant Fevillea trilobata, this oil rich in punicic acid—also known as Nhandiroba—stimulates the natural mechanisms of hyaluronic acid production by increasing water levels in deeper layers of the skin.

The Plumping Bio-Hydrating Serum is meant for those with dehydrated skin, and works to immediately plump and hydrate facial skin, filling wrinkles and fine lines.

I’m a sucker for everything hydrating, so naturally, I got right to it! 😀

Light and non-greasy texture

The first thing to note is how light and liquid it is. It literally looks and feels just like water on the skin. Unlike some hyaluronic acid serums that have a tendency to be a little thick and goopy in texture, the Natura Plumping Bio-Hydrator Serum is featherlight.

It also sinks quickly into the skin with minimal effort. No patting or special application technique necessary. It really is that simple!

Quickly hydrates and plumps up skin

The effect is, as with most hyaluronic acid serums, almost instantaneous. If you drop it on the back of your hand, you will notice how the skin looks immediately more hydrated and more plumped.

When I smooth it over the face (I use a whole pump, which isn’t very much as I’ll elaborate below), I like how it sinks in quickly, and my skin feels smoother and looks more hydrated.

I like to use it in my morning routine, when I use all my hydration products. This usually goes on in my pre-day routine, for when I head out to walk the dogs. It’s quick and simple, and I hope that it’s helping my skin by helping it stay hydrated even when I’m out and exposed to the elements.

Usually, after I get back and have my shower, it’s a combination of a hydration and Vitamin C serum routine, to repair and protect my skin. But that’s a story for another day 😀

I like to think that while I’ve been using the Natura Plumping Bio-Hydrating Serum, my skin has not unduly suffered from dehydration while under exposure to the sun. I do use other sorts of products like facial oils and retinol and acids in the evening, so it cannot be 100% attributed to this serum. But I know when my skin is dehydrated, and it hasn’t been while I’m using this serum.

Best suited for dehydrated skin

There is a difference between dry and dehydrated skin. Your skin can be dry and dehydrated, but it can also be oily and dehydrated. You can usually tell, when you notice fine lines on your skin or if your skin looks a little stretched.

Oily skin can be dehydrated too, and often, people fail to realise this, and pile on mattifying products on the skin to control the oil, only to dehydrate it out further.

A product like the Natura Plumping Bio-Hydrating Serum is a pretty good one for dehydrated skin that is oily, because it is so light on the skin that you don’t even feel it. You can then follow up with a lightweight moisturiser like the complementary Natura Chronos Aqua Auto-Replenish Gel-Hydrator.

The Aqua Auto-Replenish Gel-Hydrator is a super lightweight gel textured moisturiser that is a boon for those who abhor heavy textures on the skin. It sinks right in and boosts the effects of the Plumping Bio-Hydrating Serum, so your skin feels all lovely and plumped.

However, if you have dry skin, I do not find it as useful, as it is far too light. For dry skin like mine I’d use the Aqua Auto-Replenish Gel-Hydrator as a moisture booster at best, layered with another cream moisturiser. My skin needs the oils! 😀 But for those with oily skin, I imagine this combination would be delicious, and comfortable. I wish I had options like this when I was younger 😛

One niggling issue

There is however, one niggling issue that I must point out, because I do wish that Natura would address it – scent. I am not averse to scent and fragrance in skincare products. Sometimes, it is pleasant and soothing or uplifting. Sometimes, it is light and unobtrusive.

I personally however, find the scent in the Natura Plumping Bio-Hydrating Serum a little too strongly floral. This is a personal issue however, but one that is worth mentioning as I know some people don’t like scent in their products either.

There are also opinions on fragrance not being beneficial when used on the skin. While I understand that a product without scent, or one that is scented naturally (which can be unpleasant due to the mixture of the ingredients) may not appeal to everyone, it would be a better idea to tone down on the scent.

That said however, I also know that Natura makes fragrances, and I suppose it is only a natural progression to add one to the other. Still, tempering it slightly will help. And for this reason, as much as I think it’s a decent product, it’s hard for me to continue using it in the long-term, as the scent doesn’t agree with me.

IN A NUTSHELL

The Natura Plumping Bio-Hydrating serum is a super lightweight serum that absorbs easily and quickly into the skin without leaving any residue. It is a boon for those with dehydrated skin, for it does do its job to hydrate and plump up the skin, so skin looks and feels smoother and more hydrated. For those with oily skin, it will feel very comfortable, for it leaves no residue nor greasy feeling on skin at all. However, there is a scent that I personally find quite strong, and it is a little pricey for a product of which there are many similar ones in the market. I like it as far as it fulfils its function, but the scent prevents me from using it long-term.

PROS:
Lightweight watery texture absorbs quickly into the skin
Plumps up skin almost instantly
Skin hydration is boosted
Skin look and feels smoother and more hydrated

CONS:
Rather pricey
Scented

WHO WILL LIKE THIS: Anyone with dehydrated skin who wants an instant boost of hydration to the skin, Anyone with oily and dehydrated skin who needs a lightweight hydration boost

PRICE: RM199 | US57 for 30ml

Have you tried this serum or the Aqua Auto-Replenish Gel Hydrator moisturiser?

I think this is a good combination for those who have oily or combination and dehydrated skin. The textures are light, and the effect is very good. For those with dry skin, you’d need something heavier.
