Paris, the city of love… and my name sake!
Is it any wonder then, that the brand new Diptyque Paris en Fleur candle deserves a place of honour on my display?

Paying tribute to the city of its birth, Diptyque has created a brand new scent in a limited edition candle, that arrives just in time for the festive celebrations; and if you’re so inclined, Valentine’s Day 😉
Diptyque Paris en Fleur – Paris in Bloom
I’m told that Paris in the springtime is at its most beautiful. Flowers begin to bloom, colouring and fragrancing the many parks dotting the city.
In Paris also is the Marché aux fleurs or the Flower Market, not far from the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral. It is a lovely place to visit, to while away a little time, in the midst of lovely blooming flowers.
It is this that inspired the Diptyque Paris en Fleur candle. A scent drawn from that of fresh rose chypre, interwoven with the heady scent of patchouli.

A heady room scent
I find the scent a little heady and intense. But that works, in a room scent. It is quite different from the Rosa Damascena candle, that I find much sweeter.
As the candle burns, it throws into the air, the scent of fresh, warm roses, and a lingering scent of patchouli that grounds this scent. It fills a small room, transporting you to early morning walks by the River Seine, a fresh bouquet from the Marché aux fleurs in hand.
My advise is to burn it for about 1-2 hours, then snuff out the candle so the scent does not overpower. It also helps your candle last longer, for you don’t really want to burn through a limited edition candle this quickly!

Specially designed candle jar

To celebrate the beautiful City of Romance, the Diptyque Paris en Fleur candle is housed in a special edition pink jar, printed with a design by Pierre Marie.
The artwork is inspired by the Art Nouveau style of art, with an intricate lattice intertwined with climbing flowers and roses.
To be honest, I’m torn between wanting this to last forever, and to finish the candle, so I can reuse the jar! 😛 #FirstWorldProblems
I am also thinking of getting the Paris en Fleur scented oval, which is a scented wax oval housed within a ceramic holder. You can hang it in your clothes cupboard, or use it in your clothes drawers. I have one hanging in my cupboard, in the scent 34, and each time I open my cupboard doors, I’m greeted with a lovely burst of scent. It’s a nice treat! 😀
Diptyque Paris en Fleur collection

Alongside the Paris en Fleur candle sits also Diptyque’s brand new (and permanent) scent – Eau Capitale eau de parfum.
Created in homage to their birth city, Eau Capitale is a chypre scent, with fresh roses tempered by the warmer scent of bergamot and accented by pink berries. Unlike most rose based scents, it isn’t overtly floral nor sweet.
I will however, have to smell it a little more on me, to determine if it’s a scent I’d go for. At a first sniff however, it wasn’t hate at first sniff LOL! 😛
If you are eyeing the candles however, don’t hesitate too long, for you know how it is with limited edition products – they fly off the shelves quickly! 🙂
Does the Diptyque Paris en Fleur candle tempt you?
If for nothing else, I’m in love with the design of the jar! 😀

I just ordered this! The US website was doing a GWP that came with a mini perfumed disk and a deluxe mini of the Eau Capitale with US$100 purchase, so I had to get it. I love their Valentine’s day limited edition candles.
The candle is gorgeous. I will be buying it in spring. Not sure about the Eau Capitale. Let us know if you end up wearing it a lot.
Love love love the candle and the Eau Capitale perfume! I bought the candle for myself as a birthday gift (to me haha) and it’d already half gone… I got a 10ml mini of the perfume as a GWP and I also really like it (clearly I’m a rose fan!).
If only they were both pernament ???
