Aha! You thought I was done collecting Guerlain Meteorites pearls didn’t you?! Well, so did I! LOL!
So what do we have here?!
After I bought the last Meteorites pearls at the end of 2016, I told myself I was done. That’s it, this Meteorites pearls collector was hanging up her credit cards. No more Meteorites!
There have been a few new releases since, but nothing that caught my eye, so I didn’t feel any loss. And then one day a month or so ago, my eye was caught by a gaudy paisley tin.
And I looked a little closer. It was the Guerlain Meteorites Perles de Satin, released for Summer 2019.
And I felt the old stirrings tugging at my heartstrings once again. Ah, my love for the Meteorites pearls can never be dimmed! 😀
Guerlain Meteorites Perles de Satin – Summer 2019
The Guerlain Meteorites Perles de Satin are a limited edition release for Summer 2019. Incidentally, Guerlain Malaysia does not bring in Summer makeup releases (the general theme of bronzing and warming of skin tone isn’t well appreciated here) but I’ll tell you where to buy this below 😉
I didn’t look up any reviews or photos before buying but when I received it, I was in for a very pleasant surprise.
Guerlain says that the Meteorites Perles de Satin contain pink and coral toned powders to refresh the complexion, correct dullness and catch the light. It softly illuminates the skin and gently warms up the skin tone.
The pearls (balls!) are housed in the signature metal tin, this time, decorated with pink, gold and yellow paisley print. It is quite gaudy to my eye, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect of the powders within.
The tub contains a mixture of pink, coral and pale gold powders in the now iconic pearls, or as I like to call them, balls. The texture is quite light and powdery, so I find that a brush picks up the powders very easily.
But what really makes the Meteorites Perles de Satin stand out however, is their texture.
Satin textured powder is not glittery
In the Meteorites Perles de Satin, as the name implies, the powders have a satin texture. There is no obvious shine in sight, unlike most of the regular Meteorites releases. None of the powder pearls have that shiny sheen.
While the pink and gold powder pearls have a soft pearlescent sheen to them, the pale peach/coral powders look almost matte. For this reason therefore, I find that the powder is less illuminating when applied on skin, unlike the regular Meteorites, or previous releases. Yet, it gives skin a glow. How? Magic is all I can say! 😀

Subtle hint of warmth on skin
Like all Meteorites powders, the Meteorites Perles de Satin imparts a very gentle illuminating effect on skin. The slight difference between Perles de Satin and other Meteorites releases, is that this also imparts a very subtle hint of warmth to the skin.
It is very very subtle, and I only notice, because I’m looking for it. I know my Meteorites, and I can usually tell from a look at the colour combination, if it will be brightening or warming. The Perles de Satin remind me a little of the permanent range in Medium, without the brightening lavender powders.
Instead, I find the pink powders help lift the complexion, even as skin is softly illuminated from within. The soft peach-coral and gold powders deliver a very gentle hint of warmth.
I like wearing the Meteorites Perles de Satin either over a foundation or base, as a finishing powder, to pull the look together. It does it fabulously! Or I like wearing it directly on bare skin.
On bare skin, it offers no coverage, but it still works its magic, so skin looks naturally luminous and even. It is however, very subtle – just the slightest hint of perfection 🙂
Manage your expectations!
As I have oft-said, set aside all expectations of actually SEEING any product on your skin when using Meteorites powders. This is not for those who want, use and crave a blinding highlighting effect.
These powders aren’t for those too, who wear makeup to be seen and noticed. The Meteorites powders are best appreciated by those who want a little bit of magic to lift the complexion, without being obvious; who want a softly candlelit from within appearance, without shine and shimmer.
The Meteorites Perles de Satin is for the one who knows and understands that the magical unicorn dust that magically and inexplicably makes you look better, is found in little round powder balls in a tin 🙂
I don’t usually say this, but the Guerlain Meteorites Perles de Satin is one to get, whether it be your first Meteorites pearls, or it be your 10th (who me?) 😛
IN A NUTSHELL
The Guerlain Meteories Perles de Satin is a limited edition Meteorites powder for Summer 2019. I find that the colour is a hint deeper than most Meteorites releases, and has a more satin texture with very little highlight and shine. On skin the pink powders help lift the complexion, while the peach-coral and gold powders add a hint of warmth to the skin. The effect is very subtle, but as with all Meteorites powders, very flattering in a very understated way. I think this one’s one to own whether you be new to Meteorites, or a collector.

I compared this side by side with the other tins I have, and it is quite different so I feel the purchase justified. As if I needed that validation! LOL! but if you are wondering, it doesn’t look like any other tub of Meteorites I own 🙂

I don’t have 10 tins of them..but I prolly have 5. But, gosh…what can I say? It’s too pretty!!! <3 <3 <3
Paris B says
I swear, Meteorites are one of the best makeup things ever. Looks so good when you use, and so pretty to look at!

I only have two tins can you believe it Paris! And one of them is thanks to you 😀 I do love them and I’m tempted by this one but… it costs $94 bucks here in Oz! It’s frightening, so I’ll pass I think… this time 😉
I couldn’t decide if I liked the packaging or hated it. I’m leaning towards hate lol. It’s such a shame because the peachy tones sound divine. Why must they make it so hard?! I wonder what inspired them to go to such extremes with the packaging LOL
Paris B says
OUCH!! $94 is nuts 🙁 But the prices have gone up significantly here too which is why I have stopped caving into the hype. Well, until this, but erm… who’s counting LOL! I totally hear you about the packaging. It isn’t my favourite print either – it’s so gaudy! But I think it’s to fit their theme. The Summer bronzer sports a paisley pattern too.

Paris B says
Yay! Happy you got your hands on it, and they are a decent site to shop on – welcome to the slippery slope LOL! I can’t believe you have actually finished a tub of Metoerites! :O Good on you!! Hope you’ll enjoy using these

I have the original from years, I love them but it causes white heads, so I use them sparingly only when I need some glow at night. The packaging of the new edition is tempting….
Paris B says
Sorry to hear that! Must be the fragrance, because it’s super fragranced! I don’t like the smell myself, but I bear with it coz I love the powders so much!
Victoria Shanti says
Omg. It is so pretty! I already have 3 tins & I sure would not mind getting another tin since its beautiful & I use my meteorites everyday to work. Will visit the website. Thanks again for the post 🙂
Paris B says
Hehe 3 tins! Well done you 😉 But they are so beautiful to look at, yet so functional, I think it’s perfectly justifiable getting another. Well, so says one Meteorites junkie to another 😉

The Meteorites balls ! (I mean, pearls) Reasons I discovered your post and love reading it ever since ! Wow the packaging looks like Turkish delights dessert tin :p Still nursing my baby so am sticking to clean cosmetic product for now, I did buy a Meteriotes compact and love using them sparingly. Stinks that this is limited edition but the packaging prevents me from hoarding the product.
Paris B says
Haha Yes it looks almost edible doesn’t it? 🙂 Glad that you too love the Meteorites – they are truly truly magical!
Lois says
I was wondering – do Meteorites ever stop “working” (I have a really old tin and was wondering if they are still working as I can’t tell if there is product on my skin) and whether you have ever used up a whole tin of Meteorites and if so, how long it took?
Paris B says
Hi Lois, to be honest, no i don’t think it ever stops working 🙂 However, being powder, it can harden over the years and brushes will pick up less product. You could try what my friend did, and crush a few of the balls together to get it working again 🙂 I however, have never finished a whole tin. But my friend has! Took her a couple of years haha

Thanks to your post, I was indoctrinated and gotten my first ever meteorites from their 2020 CNY edition.
