I’ve recently opened myself to new opportunities and experiences, and it started with my taking one step – keeping an open mind. Sometimes, it means saying ‘Yes’ when you really feel like a ‘No’; but when you get home, you think “I’m glad I said ‘Yes’.”

So, what have these profound thoughts have to do with the Chanel Paris-Riviera perfume?
Everything 🙂
Chanel Paris-Riviera – Les Eaux de Chanel – Limited Edition
The Chanel Paris-Riviera fragrance is a specially released limited edition fragrance under the Les Eaux de Chanel range of scents, that was launched by Chanel last year.
Les Eaux de Chanel is a capsule range, that draws inspiration from destinations loved by Gabrielle Chanel – Venise, Deauville and Biarritz – and are tailored to be light, fresh and refreshing.
These aren’t strong, heady scents that carry you into the night. The fragrances under Les Eaux de Chanel are scents you’d spritz on in the day, or for a casual outing, just to lift your spirits, and transport you to faraway destinations.
A new scent, Paris-Riviera was recently added into the mix. This will be limited edition and sold for just one year i.e. 2019-2020. I’m not quite sure why this is so, but you have been warned!

Paris-Riviera : A fruity, citrus – floral
When I read the description of Chanel Paris-Riviera, I paused. It is described as a fruity-floral scent, with citrus and white flowers, to evoke the soft, luminous atmosphere of the Côte d’Azur, that sits on the French Riviera (hence the name).
The notes include orange peel, petitgrain, neroli, orange blossom, jasmine, benzoin and sandalwood.
To be honest, I’m not sure what the Côte d’Azur or the French Riviera smell like. I can imagine that it smells pretty much like any other city LOL! But it always conjures up romance and long, hazy summer days by the beach.
I can handle the odd citrus scent (Jo Malone’s Lime Basil & Mandarin comes to mind) but citrus also has a tendency to turn sour on my skin if I’m not careful. As for white flowers and florals, that just isn’t my preference.
I was convinced with a preconceived notion, that the Chanel Paris-Riviera isn’t a scent I’d like or go for.
But I was wrong.
Keeping an open mind on Chanel Paris-Riviera
In the spirit of experimentation, I spritzed on the Chanel Paris-Riviera and embarked on a little adventure in personal development. Both surprised me in pleasant ways.
On me, the Chanel Paris-Riviera kicks off with a strong, sweet, citrus note. But quickly, a slightly bitter note emerges, which for me, settles the white floral notes. I am not a fan of scents like orange blossom or jasmine, which I find too sweet and floral.
But on me, these white flowers do not come through very strongly. They are present, to soften the harsh citrus notes, and to lighten the slightly woody base, and are pleasant.
Give it about half an hour, and Paris-Riviera settles fully on my skin as a warm, gentle fragrance, evoking for me the spirit of adventure, and the warmth of friendship and camaraderie.
In contrast to my preferred strong, spicy, fairly masculine scents (my favourite is also one favoured by men – go figure!), Chanel Paris-Riviera is softly feminine, rounding and buffing my raw, spiky edges. It makes me feel like I can sit back and relax for a change. To not have to hold on to a certain facade
It is light and pleasant. It isn’t the most memorable perfume you’d ever own. It isn’t the most noticeable scent. It isn’t the most complex smell you’ll ever treat your nose to.
But it holds meaning for me now, because I wore it on an adventure where I meant to say No, but said Yes instead. And sometimes, that’s what endears a scent to you 🙂

Have you checked out the Chanel Paris – Riviera perfume? Are citrus-floral scents your thing?
These days, I try to keep an open mind on things. Operative word: try. It doesn’t always work, especially with perfume, but we never know till we try 🙂

I have tried almost all Chanel perfumes and none works on me. Somehow it turns sour after a short while. Tried the Riviera too but no luck! Happy with Louis Vuitton’s range 🙂
