Some days, you trot out your Diptyque and Jo Malone scented candles. On other days, you luxuriate in a beautiful scented room, without having to sell an organ or a limb LOL! I can safely say that one of the better locally made, affordable soy scented candles I’ve encountered to date is by Lilin + Co. I’d told you about them before this so you can have a little read.
I recently met the owner at a local bazaar, where she (I believe) took a chance to call out to me, and we had a nice short chat. It’s always nice putting faces to names in email! 😀 They do sell at the artisanal bazaars around the Klang Valley like Riuh, so keep a lookout for them, if you go there. You can have a sniff at the candles, so you know what to expect.
Not long after, she offered for me to try their special edition Lilin + Co Naughty or Nice Christmas candles. and I must say that they are quite lovely! Lilin + Co have also kindly offered a discount code, so if you still need to finish off your Christmas shopping, or just want to buy something nice for yourself to help you cope with the year-end stress (I often feel more stressed and frazzled at the year end than at any other time of year!) this is your chance! 😉
In the Lilin + Co Naughty or Nice Christmas Edition, they have cleverly made 2 candles with different scents. They are either “Naughty” or “Nice” depending on how you feel, I suppose 😉
Lilin + Co Nice Christmas Candle – Blackcurrant & Plum
If you’ve been nice and ended up on Santa’s Nice list, then this is the one you might be looking at.
In terms of scent, the Blackcurrant & Plum does indicate that it is a candle with a significantly fruity scent. You will have to like smelling rounded sweet notes of blackcurrant and plum in the air. It is slightly tempered and grounded with spice, but it is noticeably sweet.
Personally, I find this one a tad sweet for my tastes. But if you are hosting a party or if sweet, fruity scents appeal to your senses, then this one is lovely. It fills your house with the smell of sweet dessert and whets the appetite. Perfect for the party season.
The throw is fairly strong, which is always something I appreciate in a scented candle. There is no use lighting a scented candle if you are not going to enjoy any scent! I might as well just light a regular unscented beeswax candle for light 😛
The wax being soy wax (which is better for the environment, and lasts longer) melts quickly and evenly, and the signature Lilin + Co wood wick offers up a satisfying little crackle now and again. It is quite lovely, and if you entertain, makes for a nice talking point too!
Lilin + Co Naughty Christmas Candle – Mulled Wine
If however, you ended up on the Naughty list (as I probably have 😛 ) then you might want to have a go at the Mulled Wine Naughty Christmas candle.
Mulled wine is a drink served around Christmas, made by warming up red wine with spices and fruit. I’ve had it about twice, and it’s quite an acquired taste 😛
But in a candle, I enjoy the Mulled Wine candle better. It smells of warm, comforting cinnamon spice, with just a hint of fruity notes. I do find that it isn’t as strong as the Blackcurrant and Plum candle, so you may have to burn it a little longer, for the scent to fill the room.
But when it does, I love how warm and comforting it feels. As we don’t have winter here, the best time to burn this is on a cool evening, as it rains, or after the rain. It makes you feel all lovely and warm inside, with a general feeling of goodwill to all mankind 😀
The Lilin + Co Naughty Candle is one you burn for a mellow vibe. When you want just the hint of a scent in the air, without overwhelming your guests. It relaxes me, and makes me feel comforted.
Personally, I’d be happy to be on Santa’s Naughty list, if it means I get to pick this candle! 😀
Both these 170g candles work well in my living hall. It’s not very big but it is a wide open space, and they scent it up quite nicely. I love the unique wood wick with its delightful crackle now and again (it isn’t very loud, but you will hear it if you’re near) and the soy wax melts beautifully so there is no problem with tunneling.
If you’re feeling decadent, burn both the Naughty and Nice candles together. The lovely warm spices from the Mulled Wine candle tempers the stronger, fruity notes of Blackcurrant and Plum, and creates a beautiful scent in the air. It feels and smells lovely and luxurious.
And you did not burn an unholy hole in your wallet while enjoying it! 😉

Have you tried a Lilin + Co Candle? Have you been Naughty or Nice?
I actually like buying locally handmade candles. They are usually much cheaper than the luxury branded ones, and some have lovely scents. Plus, you don’t actually feel like you’re burning money while at it LOL! 😉

Oooooohhhhh! I’m definitely Naughty! I drank copious amounts of mulled wine to warm up during my recent trip. Temperatures in Prague dropped to 2degrees while I was there. This will hopefully bring back nice memories. The weather up north recently is very conducive for candle warmth too.

Yum yum! Mulled wine in cold weather is just perfect. Here, not so perfect LOL! 😀 Sounds like you had a blast in Prague (brings back the memories for me!) and I hope being Naughty will bring back some nice travel memories for you too!
