It’s a public holiday here, so here’s a bite-sized beauty hors d’oeuvres for you to snack on! I received a little while ago, the new Guerlain Mon Guerlain Florale perfume. Perfumes are so hard to talk about in depth, for someone who isn’t that clever with her nose, so a bite-sized post fits the bill perfectly!
Guerlain launched their Angelia Jolie inspired and fronted Mon Guerlain perfume last year, but I haven’t smelled it. Mon Guerlain Florale is the lighter, more floral version of the original. What I’d say is this – if you like floral perfumes, then you may enjoy this one. I personally do not, so this isn’t one I’d pick for myself.
However, I must say that I do like the bottle. It is a beautiful hefty piece with rose gold accents that is very trendy right now. This, coupled with the transparent pink liquid perfume within makes for a pretty picture 🙂
The new notes added are peony and Sambac jasmine. For me, the opening note is that of a slightly musky lavender, which then rounds off to something a little sweeter, and markedly floral in flavour. I don’t take to floral fragrances very well, and this one is very very floral. Very feminine and very sweet.
I do find that it is very safe and a little unoriginal. Mon Guerlain Florale is a floral perfume, and isn’t very distinctive to my nose. It didn’t leave much of an impression on me, which is a pity, because for me, fragrances often trigger a memory or emotion in me. This unfortunately did not.
All that said however, fragrance is also a very personal thing. What I enjoy may not sit well with someone else, and vice versa. I think what Guerlain made in Mon Guerlain Florale was a very crowd-pleasing scent that will sit well with those who love floral scents.
Have you smelled Mon Guerlain or this new Mon Guerlain Florale?
Are they scents that sit well with you, or do you like floral scents in general? 🙂 Note: This is being rehomed with Irene 🙂

I remember watching a video titled “top 5 sexiest women perfumes” by Jeremy Perfume, and the #1 on his list was Mon Guerlain (an earlier version, not this one – with notes of lavender, bergamot and tonka beans). This combi of peony and jasmine reminds me of a jo malone one which i ?. My nose has always been partial towards floral-fresh, esp if its not too strong, and judging from his description, it sounds amazing! (although it should smell amazing too, lol). Maybe it is also abit of an eye-candy as well of the presenter, although he ought to tone it down on the salesman-ish vibe. lol.

I generally try to stay away from sweet scents but for some reason when it has certain floral notes too, I can be swayed otherwise! 😀 Guerlain do make some remarkably nice scents as I do quite enjoy their Idylle perfume.

Love the floral notes described. I had Idylle which was divine, so I’m guessing this would be along the same floral lines too.

Ahhh I love floral perfume more than fruity one. Amongst my favourites are enternity moment and ellie saab. Tried the fruity perfume from polo but didn’t get the hang of it. I don’t think fruity blended well with my natural smells.. ? Happy holidays to u Paris..

I love floral perfumes. It works well with me.
My favourite so far is Marc Jacob daisy and Jo malone bluebells. I like jasmine and peony. But I have yet to come across both of this blend with musky lavender!
Would love to try this!

Hi, Paris B.
Really enjoy reading this informative blog of yours. Here’s me trying out my luck in winning this bottle of florals extravaganza.
I used to not favour in floral perfumes but I guess there are always exceptions in every rule.
My exception happened the other day when I was out hunting for a new perfume for myself. I was lucky enough to be able to catch a sniff of this perfume after reading the your review on it . Surprisingly, found myself fall in love with the scent right away! So I did try it and it really sat well with me. But due to the hefty price tag of this perfume I just had to let it go.
Hope I get to be the lucky one to win away a bottle of Mon Guerlain Florale and make this my scent for as long as it can be. ?
Thank you and happy blogging.

I find that as I get older, I’m starting to like light floral scents… that being said, I’m a bit scared I might end up like those old aunties with super strong, cheap floral perfume when I’m old and grey!!

Hi Paris, good to read your blog about perfumes. I enjoyed reading your reviews about perfumes. Yes I like floral scent such as rose and peony. I am using Chloe and I have L’occitane peony before which I shared with my mum. I never sniff Guerlian before. It seems not available in JB. Or maybe I can find it in Sephora? If I ever have a chance to win this I will share this with mum. Thanks for the beautiful review.

Sounds pretty boring to me; I love real flowers but haven’t come across many floral perfumes that I like. The new Tom Ford is more up my alley!
Paris B says
Haha I quite liked that new Tom Ford! Smells pretty much like any other man’s fragrance, but I felt it was interesting enough that women could quite easily wear it.
