My Skincare Routine September 2017 : Use it up or lose it! Products I have emptied

October 9, 2017 Paris B 34 Comments

I shared my skincare routine last in August 2017, and said I’d make it a more regular segment here on the blog, if only for my personal reference, to remind myself of what works (and what doesn’t). What you may notice is that while the products will switch around and change from time to time, the structure of my routine remains pretty much the same, which is what makes it a “routine”.

In August, I was all about calming down my skin that was feeling sensitive. By September, my skin was calm and zen, and I was ready to play around again. But I set myself a goal.

skincare routine september 2017

I had a bunch of skincare that were either on their last legs, or almost expired, and I gave myself a challenge of either using them up, or tossing them out.

Happily, I ended up using up and emptying quite a few items, which made me very happy. I know it is odd to be happy about emptying a skincare product (I should be sad, as it means I have to purchase something to fit its missing hole in my routine) but I have other similar products waiting in line to take its place, and I was excited to have a go at them! 😀 #beautyjunkieproblems

So, here’s my skincare routine in September 2017 including what I’d finished, and I’ll tell you if I’ll repurchase them 🙂 Feel free to share your thoughts, or even your routine with me! I’m a nosy parker 😀

In a vote, the Eyes have it for the Signature de Chanel Eyeliner Pen and Chanel Stylo Sourcils Waterproof Brow Pencil

October 6, 2017 Paris B 8 Comments

It is easy to get caught up in the hoopla surrounding new releases and limited edition collections, that we often overlook items in the permanent range that we might use everyday. I wanted to highlight these 2 relatively new products that have just been released by Chanel, but which are permanent. I don’t see them get a lot of love, and I really wanted to tell you about them, because they are such good products!

chanel signature eyeliner pen and longwearing brow pencil

Both these products are permanent, but they are so underrated. They both relate to the eyes, and I’ve been wearing both of them very often. They certainly deserve much more love and attention than they’re getting!

The first is the Signature de Chanel Eyeliner Pen, which is a brush-tipped ink eyeliner, that comes in just one colour – black. The other is the Chanel Stylo Sourcils Waterproof Defining Longwear Eyebrow Pencil which comes in about 6 colours, if I’m not mistaken. By way of a spoiler, that eyebrow pencil has trumped my other faves that come in a similar design 😀

Bag Lust: Gucci Soho Disco Bag – It is small and casual but elegant

October 4, 2017 Paris B 24 Comments

I haven’t done a Bag Lust post in a while. This is primarily because I haven’t been lusting after many new bags. *whew* Did you hear that? that was my bank account sighing in relief!

But last weekend, I held a little insta-live chit-chat session, where a few of you asked me what bags I’ve currently got my eye on. That’s interesting. I never thought anyone bothered to read my bag-related ramblings LOL! But clearly, some of you do, thank you!

So, I took a look at one of my many online shopping carts, where I hold my wishlist items as and when the fancy strikes, and one bag jumped out at me – the Gucci Soho Disco. I held it in my online shopping cart in a few different colours. Yes, this is a bag I’m lusting after, so please feel free to talk me into or out of it! 😛

Zap the occasional zit with the gentle but effective Mamonde AC Balance Spot Serum

October 2, 2017 Paris B Leave a Comment

One of the perks of me getting older is that my skin seems to be behaving itself better and settling down. Yes, I get the dryness and the inevitable lines that comes with age, but for the most part *touchwood* my skin has decided that I’ve suffered enough acne through my teens and 20’s, and is now sparing me the spots and pimples. Now, the few spots I get are often self-inflicted. Masochist, I know!

So, when I recently sprouted a few spots on my skin (which I’m attributing to new skincare I was trying out) I got into a bit of a tizz. Having gotten rid of everything relating to pimples in my skincare cupboard, how was I going to treat my spots?

But rummaging around in my stash produced the Mamonde AC Balance Spot Serum, which I’d been sent a little while ago. I’d put it aside, as I was celebrating my clearer skin, but it was a good time to put it to the test now.

Mamonde is a very affordable Korean skincare brand under the Amore-Pacific cosmetics umbrella. Mamonde’s brand story is that they derive their products from flowers. I’ve tested one or two of their products, and for the most part find them alright. They are basic, in a way that may suit someone who is younger, or who is just starting out with a skincare routine. For someone like me, I feel it to be insufficient in hydration or intensity. Prices are very affordable however, and that allows for a routine that is easy to maintain.

But today, it is about this Mamonde AC Balance Spot Serum, which is a BHA based serum that is supposed to control skin sebum and soothe skin. But more interestingly, what did it do for my spots?
