Hello lovely peeps!
Can you believe that it’s almost A WEEK since the #MWS10 Luxury Pampering Party held at Jo Malone London at Pavilion KL? Goodness me – where has the time gone?!
You didn’t know we had a party? Ah! That’s why you have to follow my social media channels lah LOL! The invitations didn’t go out here on the blog, as it was quite a special little thing and I wanted it to be super special for you.
But in a nutshell, here’s what I did. To celebrate surviving 10 years of blogging, I wanted to do something special this year. I ran a massive giveaway that many of you participated in (thank you for all your lovely kind wishes!) and I had originally planned for a little party to celebrate, but the planning process floored me, so I shelved the idea.
But along the way, as these things happen, I spoke to the lovely people at Jo Malone London, and they very kindly allowed me to host the first #MWS10 party in their new Pavilion KL store! Was I stoked?! WAS I STOKED?! 😀 Fragrances are such unique and personal things, and I absolutely loved the idea of having 15 readers experience this!
I was so overwhelmed on the day, and so caught up in the excitement (it’s been 3 years since the last MWS event!), that I totally forgot to take any photos! Or post on Instagram. And my one Instagram Story didn’t post – do I suck at IG stories or what?! 😛 But the lovely JML peeps provided a professional photographer, and I’ve just received the photos! So, come and see what went down at the #MWS10 Luxury Pampering Party! (I’d suggest you read till the end, but hey, you do you! 😉 )
I don’t know how many of you who expressed your interest in joining me at the mysterious, unknown venue of the #MWS10 Luxury Pampering Party, knew where it would be held. Hands up? 😀
My invitation to join me went out with no venue, and I think it’s to their credit that those who took a chance, responded as they did 😀 But the successful participants were later informed that the venue was the brand-spanking-new Jo Malone London store at Pavilion KL that had just opened in early May 2017 and we had full run of the store! The best opportunity to play, touch, try, experiment, and just immerse ourselves in the world of Jo Malone scents.
The sales people in store were incredibly helpful and obliging to everyone, to guide them on their fragrance journey and to help everyone learn about the different types of products, fragrances and scents available in store. I don’t know about you, but I’m usually intimidated by fragrance stores, so this was a great opportunity to play around without being tailgated 😛
I had space for just 15 persons, as the space in store was limited, and because we wanted to keep it small and cosy and intimate. Also, the store was still open to the public (which got very interesting about halfway through LOL!) and I think all the in-store activity and bustle got more than a few people curious 😀
It was basically a free and easy session. I wanted people to mingle and talk to each other, not have a “class”. There was a lovely healthy breakfast provided and everyone was treated to the signature Jo Malone hand and arm massage with scents customised to each of their preferences.
It starts out with you figuring out what sort of scents you like, which the sales people will help you through. It can get daunting with the array of fragrances that is now carried by Jo Malone!
Next, the scented shower gel is whipped (with a swanky milk frother! I loved this!) and the lovely scented lather applied to the arms, with a gentle hand and arm massage.
Then, a complementary body lotion or cream is applied, again with a lovely hand massage, to blend the scents to one that you’ve customised for your very own. Fragrances smell so different on different people, and I swear, everyone smelled so amazing that day!
They were also led on a fragrance journey, to discover the many different scents of Jo Malone fragrances, as well as to discover the magic of layering fragrances, the Jo Malone way. There was absolutely no obligation at all for anyone to buy anything – the key thing was to just enjoy the experience, as it was all about the pampering! (But I spotted some people sneaking in some purchases – I hope you love them! 😀 )
And of course, I hope no one forgot to experience the signature Jo Malone fragrance shower, with their favourite perfumes. This is where they spray your perfumes of choice over you, front and back, to envelop you in the scent, so you smell absolutely amazing, and waft your signature scent as you walk along, in your little cloud of perfume.
She had great taste this one, heading straight for the Jo Malone Rare Teas selection! 😀 These are very exclusive scents inspired by the rare teas of the world and cost you an arm, leg and kidney! LOL! But I had a fragrance shower with these as well – I think it was Oolong and Silver Needles tea – and I loved how they smelled! So beautiful 😀 I’m saving my kidney for one of these 😛
Why so serious, Fiona?! LOL! 😀
I know some of you took this opportunity to step out of your comfort zone, to join in a party filled with strangers, that I hope became friends. As I had shared with some of you through my newsletter, offering and following through with meeting up with readers, was something I forced myself to do, which is incredibly hard for an introvert. But it was ultimately fulfilling, I made some new friends, and I hope this gave you the opportunity to as well!
Thank you everyone for coming, for the lovely gifts that some of you brought, and for making me feel like a little celebrity, with all the photo-taking! LOL! I can’t believe you guys actually got in line, and I swear it piqued the interest of more than one curious passerby, who promptly wandered into the store, to ask what was happening 😀 😀 They must have thought it was some big celebrity in store, only to find it’s just little old me – “Who?” LOL 😀
We are missing one, as one of the attendees couldn’t make it at the very last minute and I didn’t have the opportunity or time to fill the extra spot. But I’m so glad I managed to get a photo with all of you, and to meet and finally put faces to names I’d only seen online – some of you, for years and years! I didn’t have as much time as I liked to chat with you all, but I hope I at least, managed to have a little word with all of you at one point or another 😀
Thank you so much for coming to the mysterious #MWS10 Luxury Pampering Party, and for your support for the blog Inaz (who made a wonderful video that I shared on Facebook), Mei Ling (who came all the way from Seremban!), Yu Ming, Summer, Ayna, Sandra, Jazz, Zulfa, Fiona, Jayashini, Denise, Irene, Arpita and the adorably named Bugs! 😀 I hope you all had a good time, enjoyed the little pampering session and the door gifts you got to bring home 🙂
Oh and you know, my event photos are never complete without at least one photo of me quite literally LOL-ing. I swear, it’s a thing! And at this MWS10 x Jo Malone London event, here’s my signature LOL-until-you-can’t-see-my-eyes shot.
With my friends who stopped by to kepoh, and have a gander around the store as well 😀 I think I was laughing at us unintentionally triplet-ing in black and white coordinates 😀
Above all, my heartfelt thanks to the Jo Malone London Malaysia team for making this possible, for being so gracious and accommodating, and for taking a chance on me to host the first #MWS10 party, which was my little way of giving back to you readers.
“Did I read it right? Did you say ‘first’ #MWS10 party?”
Yes I did! I’m in talks with another brand to host another #MWS10 party in a couple of months, so if you missed this one, do look out for the next one. I work with amazing people, and when I can, I try to share that amazing experience with you 🙂
xoxo
Paris B
I do hope you will host another one after this! So much fun.
There are most certainly plans to! Watch this space! 😉
I had a most enjoyable time being pampered with the fragrances and the spread of healthy breakfast.
Loved most of the fragrances with my favourite being Pomegranate Noir. It’s already been a week but the desire to purchase this one is still strong. Yikes….!
I’m glad you enjoyed yourself ML 🙂 And I love Pomegranate Noir too! It’s heavy and sweet, but if you blend it with a light citrus, it’s absolutely divine – Next time you come into KL you know where to go! 😉
Thanks Paris and Jo Malone! It was good fun and as you can see, most of the photos of me in this post are when I’m LOL-ing!! It’s not the first time as I’m often caught doing just that. When you know me better, you’ll know that I have the loudest laugh. Can’t wait to try my luck for the next party!
Haha I’m going to have to catch you for lunch some day then! 😀 Thank you for the lovely fruit cake. Yes, I was greedy and dug into it before it had time to mature, but it was still so good regardless! I’m saving it now, coz I’ve put myself on a diet! Well, sort of anyway – maybe a see-food diet 😛
Why my serious face la lol. Great event! No jumping around out of breath with jelly legs like mine hahaha ?. Thank you for accommodating my “I wanna meet Paris B!” ?
Ya lor, so serious you 😀 Thanks for coming, and your events are fun la! We should see about doing something together one day – jump around for yours and then be pampered at mine (coz I’m like tofu like that LOL!)
Super jealous haha but these are lovely pics of the event so I’m able to enjoy it in spirit. Everyone looks gorgeous too. JML is one of those stores I’d gladly live in.
Congrats on the milestone, Ms.P…you are my blogging idol.
You too kind SG and not to worry, there’s definitely one more coming up! And that promises to be a good one too 😉
Thank you for hosting such a lovely event Paris, I really had fun trying out and experiment with fragrance layering that day <3 <3 <3
Thank you for coming Ayna! I’m glad you had fun – that’s all I really wanted for everyone to have 😀
Such a wonderful event. It was the least stressful inshore experience I’ve had in awhile haha. Thank you for having me.
Thanks for coming, Arpita 😀 And haha, the no-stress element was part of what I wanted everyone to experience! Hard to even think about buying anything when there’s a sale assistant breathing down your neck eh?
*Palms on face, I never look good in photos, often caught in odd expressions and my double chin….. But I don’t care, I had a great time at the par-tay! Thank you PB. Woohoo….
Still can’t believe I have a Jo Malone fragrance. And, its Red Roses some more leh.
The funny part that makes me feel PB is a real person is what you said when your friends didn’t want to come take group photo…. I was thinking inside that although PB looked so serious, but she also got that not so serious moment. From your “WL” word, I knew they must be your close friends. I kinda happy I got to see another version of PB that day. XD
Doing a combo party with another blogger sounds interesting. Like what you suggest to Fiona, doing a fit exercise session and end with a pampering session. That sounds like fun. Count me in !
Good luck to me on joining your next party ! It’s not that scary going out of my comfort zone to meet other people. It was FUN and I get to switch from being a mom to be ‘Bugs’ for a few hours.
hahaha it’s called being natural Bugs! 😀 I’m very happy I finally got to meet you, and that you enjoyed yourself at the event and got some time out for yourself 😀 I think that’s very important for everyone, even and especially mothers! Oh and haha! Yes, they are very good friends of mine, and I am not very prim and proper la. I’m just a normal person but I do have a serious face that scares most people LOL! 😀
Aww, love the photos! Looks like everyone had a great time. Hopefully I’ll be able to join one of your parties in the future… when my crazy schedule permits!
I hope you will be able to join us! I have a couple more in the works, and it’ll be on weekends, to accommodate most people’s schedule so hopefully there’ll be an opportunity to come 🙂
