Your Say: Do you still comment on blogs?

March 16, 2017 Paris B 68 Comments

You know, the blog has been feeling rather intense lately. I think it’s that last giveaway and celebratory post and my whacking of Luna that’s stirring up a lot of feelings haha! (but thank you for your input, you guys are really the best!) So I wanted to chill things down a little on the beauty front and ask you something prompted by a question I came across on Twitter.

still comment on blogs

That’s me leaving a comment on The Woks of Life – it’s one of my fave cooking blogs (I read more cooking blogs than beauty blogs these days LOL!)

Blogging friend Arianne of The Glitter Geek asked on Twitter if you or does anyone still comment or would comment anymore on blog posts, or if your preferred medium of interaction is social media e.g. Instagram, Facebook or Twitter (the 3 most common interactive social media platforms for this purpose).

Curious Q: do you comment on blogs anymore? Do you just engage on the social platforms linking to posts? Admittedly I mostly do the latter.

I thought it was an excellent question, because it’s one I have been thinking about as well in recent times 🙂 I’d like to invite you to talk about this, because I think it’s interesting to see how commenting has evolved (or devolved).

That famous blue Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil and why I won’t be buying any more Sunday Riley

March 14, 2017 Paris B 72 Comments

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil is one I lusted after, thanks to the many raves online when it first came out over a year ago. I hmmed and hawed for a while before eventually pulling the trigger, and ordering it online, because we don’t get the brand here in Malaysia.

I’ve had it for something like a year? Maybe more. I bought it not long after its launch (suckerrrr!) and I’ve been kind of struggling with this for the better part of a year now.

sunday riley luna sleeping night oil

The biggest problem with the Sunday Riley Luna oil, is the price. I bought it for £85 which is a jaw-dropping sum of money to drop on a product I wasn’t sure about.

When I was first interested in it, the Luna Oil came highly raved by many big bloggers, who claimed it made their skin so smooth. Further, the addition of retinol in an oil was a unique formula. Sunday Riley claims that the Luna oil contains an advanced retinol complex, that visibly lessens lines and wrinkles, while correcting damage by the sun, time and exposure. And it does all this while you sleep, as it is an oil you want to use only at night. They even claim that pregnant women shouldn’t use this, indicating that the retinol content is high enough to transfer to the bloodstream and affect unborn foetuses. On top of everything, it claims to be non drying and to offer up plumped, luminous skin.

The problem is, I’m very conflicted about this product. On the one hand, I actually don’t mind it. It’s not bad. But on the other hand, I feel terribly cheated and that has made me side-eye all Sunday Riley products henceforth. I don’t even want to buy any other products from the brand (for which my wallet sighs in relief LOL! 😀 )

Celebrating 10 years – The My Women Stuff 10th Anniversary massive Giveaway!

March 13, 2017 Paris B

Hey guys, you did not actually think I’d allow that 10 year milestone to pass me by without commemorating it in some way, right?! Pish! Perish the thought!

I originally had more lofty plans to celebrate 10 years of blogging, including throwing a little party, but for various reasons, I put those plans to bed (but if you want to help or sponsor something, let’s talk! I can’t do it alone). Instead, I decided to give back to you, lovely readers. And it comes in the form of a humungous beauty hamper.

mws10 giveaway

I’d stopped running giveaways here on MWS for a while now, because they just weren’t appreciated (fact). There, said it, and despite what people kept telling me, it affects how I consider giveaways. But I wanted to find a way to give back, and this was the easiest way.

In this very special My Women Stuff 10th Anniversary giveaway, I have a hamper of full sized beauty products that I specially handpicked from different brands. They are ALL products I personally use and still use and in some cases, use often and keep back ups of. If you’ve been with me, none of them will come as a surprise and you may even find yourself nodding along to each of them, as you would an old friend.

I have 4 5 sets for 4 5 very lucky MWS readers, so here’s what you will stand to win and how you can participate. There is one more opportunity going out, but you’d have to be in the know for that one, so you might want to get on the ball, coz if you’re in the know, you’re in the know! 😉

10 years : It’s a hell of a long time to be still blogging

March 9, 2017 Paris B 104 Comments

Every year when I sit down around this time to write my blog anniversary post, I find I usually have something to talk about. A revelation perhaps, about how things are going, or just a look back at how far I’ve come. This year was different.

This year, the words wouldn’t come. I’m not sure why. I thought a milestone year like 10 YEARS writ in 10 feet high neon letters, would be an easy one to address. It turned out it wasn’t.

10 years

I’d looked forward to this year, 2017, with some anticipation in the past few months, knowing I’d be hitting one of the most major milestones for almost any blogger. But, 10 years of blogging and writing, in my case almost exclusively about beauty, has culminated in my being at a loss for words. I couldn’t seem to find the words to convey the enormity of the situation, and how much I truly appreciate that there are people who read, have been reading and are still reading My Women Stuff after all these years.

So, I’ve resorted to just a quick ramble here, just to say what I want to say, and hit the Publish button before words and courage fail me.
