Glossy nails made easy with the Scholl Velvet Smooth Electronic Nail Care System

Beauty blogger or no, I detest going for manicures. Nail polish isn’t my thing, and while I enjoy the look of shiny nails, I don’t have that kind of patience to sit with an emery board to file and buff and shine my nails. Takes a lot of elbow grease too!

So, when Scholl told me that there is a gadget that can do all that for me electronically, yes, I was intrigued! The gadget in question is the new Scholl Velvet Smooth Electronic Nail Care System, that promises to give you the appearance of healthy, shiny, glossy nails, in no time at all! Perfect for busy ladies like us 😉

The Scholl Electronic Nail Care System comes in a package with an electric nail pen (1 AA battery included) and 3 detachable ‘heads’ to file, buff and shine your nails. It rather resembles the packaging of an electric toothbrush and assembles the same way. The heads are replaceable, which is great, since they will eventually wear out with use.

What I liked best about this electric nail pen, is that it was quick to see results. When you don’t have the luxury of time to sit around filing and buffing your nails the way bored women do in movies, you need something fast. Us women these days are busy career professionals – we are always on the go, needing to be everywhere at once, being capable and efficient… and we want nice shiny nails, dammit! Not necessarily coloured nails (I’m not crazy about coloured nails), but shiny nails always make a good impression.

It was fairly easy to use. Each of the heads are clearly marked with 1, 2 and 3 so you know the order in which to use them. Being electric, it takes the elbow grease out of the filing and buffing in steps 1 and 2. I found it quite quick to file my nail edge, and to buff the surface of the nail. The vibration is a little strong, but there are 2 speeds, so you can control it a little, and when polishing in the final step 3, you do have to exert a little pressure so you get a glossier shine.

Since I’m a nail dodo and rarely do my nails, I saw results very quickly. Perfect then, since all I had to do was slick on a bright lip, some accessories, and fly out the door – nicely manicured for once! 🙂

Have you tried this or something similar and are you a nail buff?

I’m not, but this does make it easier for me to have shiny nails quickly. You? 🙂
