I don’t wear mascara and according to Makeup Artist Dick Page, that’s OK!

I came across a very interesting interview with Makeup Artist Dick Page in The Coveteur yesterday. For those who may not be familiar with the name, Dick Page is currently the artistic director for Shiseido makeup, and has come up with some of the more daring and interesting colour combinations in the otherwise rather conventional makeup brand.

I first crossed paths with the name Dick Page about 10 years ago, when he was makeup artist under the now defunct Japanese brand Inoui ID – anyone remember that brand? I used to own a couple of their eyeshadow quads, which could only be bought in Japan and back in those days, you don’t get the plethora of resellers the way you get now. It was therefore pretty exclusive stuff. Pity I was allergic like hell to them LOL!

But one thing in the interview interested me – Dick Page actually said he wouldn’t really miss not having mascara in his kit. That made me sit up because, why hello! I don’t wear mascara anymore, and now it’s OK! 😀

You know what I like about skincare? You don’t get a limited edition tag on them! Even if you do, it’s to do with packaging and not product. So, it allows us all to explore and experiment and share at our leisure. Pretty much as I like it.

That’s what I’d been doing with the Caudalie Premier Cru The Elixir. It’s one of those products that I have, and use, but for one reason or another, fail to mention. It’s not because it’s a bad product. If it was, I wouldn’t be using it so often, yet it’s one of those that fall through the cracks.

But no longer! Fortunately, unlike a pretty makeup compact, it’s a permanent item 🙂

Your Say: Do you carry colourful bags or do you stick to classic, neutral colours?

If there’s one predominant colour in my wardrobe, it’s black. It’s mostly for a very simple reason – black goes with everything. I also find that black is the easiest colour to style, allowing any colour against it to pop, and it’s also easy to get away with wearing black for any occasion – well, almost any occasion.

But in my bag wardrobe, it’s a whole different story altogether.

Black accessories, or bags in particular, are in the minority. When it comes to my accessories, I tend to gravitate towards brighter shades – red, blue, green… any colour is game. In fact, I recently realised that black and brown is highly under-represented in my bag wardrobe.

Naturally, I got to wondering if I’m in the majority or minority here. Do you wear more black or neutral coloured bags or do you go for brighter colours?
