Preview: By Terry Rose Infernale Fall 2014 Makeup Collection

September 19, 2014 Paris B 23 Comments

Fans of By Terry Baume de Rose, rejoice! For in the Rose Infernale Fall 2014 collection, By Terry has taken her iconic rose lip balm and infused it with colour, so you get a tint of colour on lips while treating them to the luxurious lip pampering formula that By Terry is known for.

by terry baume de rose nutri couleur

The By Terry Baume de Rose Nutri Couleur (RM199) comes in 6 brand new shades – No. 1 Rosy Babe (light pink), No. 2 Mandrina Pulp (Orange), No. 3 Cherry Bomb (Red), No. 4 Bloom Berry (Berry), No. 5 Fig Fiction (Plum) and No. 6 Toffee Cream (Nude) in addition to the existing transparent Baume de Rose pot. They feature translucent tints of colour, just enough to tint lips, but not so opaque as to be deemed a lipstick. Pretty and definitely luxurious. I suggest using a lip brush for best application. If you use fingers, it’ll get messy.

While these colour pots are permanent, there is however another very pretty item that isn’t – the Terrybly Rose de Rose powder.

The By Terry Terrybly Rose de Rose powder (RM390) is a work of art in a pan.

by terry terrybly rose de rose powder blush

The pan features a trio of soft pinks and peaches in an intricate rose pattern that makes you feel utterly gutted to despoil. If I’m not mistaken, it is about the size of their powder compact, and comes in a hefty metal compact and a flat brush. While the soft pinks lend this lovely piece of artwork to be used as a blush, Sophie Killan, By Terry makeup artist demonstrated that you can not only use this as a blush, but also as an all over highlighting powder, to brighten the complexion.

The largest shade is a soft pink, with equal amounts of a deeper pink and peach along the sides. There is shimmer in there, and the unmistakeable scent of roses that infuse most By Terry products. When blended, the colours come together in a soft pink shimmer, that I’d suggest would be better used as a highlighter. Then, brush on the colours on the side to pick up colour to use as a blush. Beautiful to look at and to behold but hefty on the pocket. As much of a blush freak as I am, I couldn’t bring myself to plonk down moolah for this one. But I’ll admire from afar 😀

The final, and also very interesting new item in the Rose Infernale collection is the Eye Powder Kajal (RM149). It comes in just 1 shade, a dark, smokey black and is a loose powder kohl liner for the eyes. There have been a few brands that’ve done this and one of the most popular once was Guerlain (but I don’t know if they’ve discontinued it). I’ve actually used the one by Guerlain (which I reviewed here, back in the early days) The applicator is a pliable straight felt tip stick shape and the product is very pigmented and intense, yet soft.

The really nice thing about using a kajal kohl powder is that it usually gives a softer effect to the eyes, while allowing for a deep intense colour, and it stays put all day long. It’s much more effective than using a regular pencil eyeliner and more smudge proof too.

I tested this one on the back of my hand, where I observed it to be an intense black with soft edges so I can imagine it applying as a lovely, intense black line. I’m intereted to give this one a go, because I’ve worked with something similar and although it was a bother before, this one looks like it’ll be easier to handle. I’ll tell you how it goes when I’ve tried it 🙂

So that, my friends, is a quick overview of the By Terry Rose Infernale collection which is or will be available at Ken’s Apothecary Bangsar Village II and Bangsar Shopping Centre. If you’re feeling flush, this would definitely be a collection to look out for, but otherwise, let’s just gawk yes? 😉

Does anything from the Rose Infernale collection catch your eye? Have you used the Baume de Rose balm before?

I haven’t used the Baume de Rose in a pot, but I have one that comes in a tube and that makes my lips feel weird and tingly. I’ll have to tell you about it some time, if you’re interested. Otherwise, it’ll be one of those I’ll file away as “Don’t bother blogging” LOL! 😀

By Terry Rose Initiale Fall 2014 collection will be available at KENS Apothecary at Bangsar Village II and Bangsar Shopping Centre. Prices of products are as set out above.

The blush is to-die-for. Maybe santa will pop one into my stocking this year. Sigh. 🙁

Oh dear me, the By Terry Terrybly Rose de Rose powder is gorgeous! The art on the pan is so detailed. But the price. *runs far far away away from the By Terry Counter and hides*

Haha that’s how I felt when I first saw it! Even swatching the tester made me pause because it felt like such sacrilege to disturb the surface of the powder. Oh well, it’s one of those things I guess – we’ll just admire it from afar 🙂

I love By Terry products but the price is a bit unreasonable 🙂 I have tried their Rose Balm, nice but it is too expensive for what it is. I use my Nuxe lip balm which is just as nice but only a fraction of the By Terry price x

A bit, Grace? I find them very unreasonable to my wallet! HAHA 😀 I know of fans of their rose balm which I sniffed at but the strong rose scent put me off trying and I’m not very good with lip balm anyway. I’ve heard the Nuxe one is very good too as is Nuxe in general. Might have to give that a shot some day – so many things to try, only one face and body to try it on 😛

Hey Ankita, that’s actually quite interesting because I thought most Indian girls would have tried powder kohls for lining before, or at least that’s what my limited knowledge tells me. I was told once that if I wanted cheap and good powder kohl to just go to an Indian store and they’d have it although I haven’t tried 😀

As much as I am loving what I see, I work way too hard for my money to part with it for rose-scented products that could quite feasibly feed a small village for a week/month or year!
‘Terrybly’ expensive and not a fan of rose anyway. I won’t say never but not quite yet or perhaps…ever.

Yes, I have to say that I don’t understand how these prices can be justifiable but you know, there will always be those who are prepared to splurge. I’ve been urged to a few times (I’m told the foundation is amazing) but I’m yet to bite the bullet! >.<
