Preview: By Terry Rose Infernale Fall 2014 Makeup Collection

September 19, 2014 Paris B 23 Comments

Fans of By Terry Baume de Rose, rejoice! For in the Rose Infernale Fall 2014 collection, By Terry has taken her iconic rose lip balm and infused it with colour, so you get a tint of colour on lips while treating them to the luxurious lip pampering formula that By Terry is known for.

by terry baume de rose nutri couleur

The By Terry Baume de Rose Nutri Couleur (RM199) comes in 6 brand new shades – No. 1 Rosy Babe (light pink), No. 2 Mandrina Pulp (Orange), No. 3 Cherry Bomb (Red), No. 4 Bloom Berry (Berry), No. 5 Fig Fiction (Plum) and No. 6 Toffee Cream (Nude) in addition to the existing transparent Baume de Rose pot. They feature translucent tints of colour, just enough to tint lips, but not so opaque as to be deemed a lipstick. Pretty and definitely luxurious. I suggest using a lip brush for best application. If you use fingers, it’ll get messy.

While these colour pots are permanent, there is however another very pretty item that isn’t – the Terrybly Rose de Rose powder.

New to facial oils? Try the Melvita Pulpe de Rose Plumping Radiance Duo for a nice and easy introduction

September 18, 2014 Paris B 22 Comments

I have a bit of a confession. I don’t actually like blogging about something when the hype is still in the air. You know that moment when everyone’s going on about that latest product/colour/style? Which does make me a bit of a PR nightmare because I don’t play by the rules a lot, unless I’m really excited about something. Maybe pay me and we’ll talk deadlines LOL! But when it comes to skincare, I have a strict rule. Don’t bug me till I’ve had a good go at the product. Just don’t.

Which explains why I’ve been sitting on this for about 4 months now. I stumbled on the Melvita Pulpe de Rose Plumping Radiance Duo while browsing online and I was generously sent a bottle to try to see if I’d like it. It became available back in June or July along with a few other products that I haven’t seen but having had about 2 months to incorporate it into my routine, I figured, it’s time to tell you about this product and yes, I like it 🙂

Nanoblur claims you’ll look up to 10 years younger: Let’s see how it fares!

September 17, 2014 Paris B 11 Comments

Alright, I’m conflicted. On the one hand, here is a product touting to make me look up to 10 years younger in 40 seconds and yet, my innate sense of of scepticism rears its ugly head with that raised eyebrow going “Really?!” I know, 10 years. That’s a heck lot of time to turn back (although personally, I’m not one for turning back time unless it’s to undo mistakes and boy, are there some I’d like to undo!)

nanoblur

The product is Nanoblur by Indeed Labs, the people who brought us Hydraluron. What this is, is a product that purports to be based on optics technology and it’s not sold as a makeup, so it’s NOT a primer. I know, then what is it?

Well, it’s a product that you apply on skin to correct the appearance of skin aging, lines, wrinkles, pores and it does this all within seconds. 40 seconds to be exact. Sounds like a primer? Yeah, I thought so too. I’ve held on to this for over 2 months now, trying to get my head around it, but I’m afraid to say, quite failing to see how it fits into my routine.

Wearing chocolate eyeshadow was as insurmountable as the Dolomites mountain range till NARS came along

September 15, 2014 Paris B 21 Comments

Uh, how do I say this, but don’t judge a book by its cover. A phrase as true to anything in life as it is in makeup, for if I had judged the new (and unfortunately, limited edition) NARS Dolomites eyeshadow duo by how it looked, I’d be the first to pass it over. Mistake! Don’t.

nars dolomites eyeshadow duo

If you pass this over, you might miss out on one of the most versatile neutral eyeshadow colours in a handy small compact, that I’ve come across in recent times. I know it sounds like so much hoopla, but I was pleasantly surprised by how Dolomites performed and it happily also, sports a better texture than regular NARS eyeshadows.

I don’t know if you feel the way I do about NARS eyeshadows, but I always feel them to be a bit of a hit or miss, if you’re buying them sight unseen. I was a little put off by them before (packaging aside) because I felt the texture was a little dry. Sure, they’re pigmented but they take a bit of work and I found it too much work. But I have also noticed that in recent times, NARS has stepped up their game for certain colours, a change I noticed with Kauai and now, Dolomites. The texture of the eyeshadow in Dolomites is more creamy, more pigmented, and adheres to skin better. Let me try and show you in the swatches below 🙂
