Tip: 12 + 1 Practical Tips for what to do when moving house

August 13, 2014 Paris B 41 Comments

Some of you may have realised that part of the reason for my silence and sporadic posting schedule on the blog was due to me moving house. The timing of the move was such, that it was smack in the middle of a very busy period at work, not smart planning on my part, and the impression that I could be more efficient than I really was. This was the first time I was moving house and I swear, it will be the last! I don’t think I could put myself through all that stress again 😛

moving house tips

But as they say, every cloud has a silver lining and for me, it was some tips to help anyone planning to move house. I read up on tips before I planned and executed the move, but I was still left unprepared, and so will you. But there are some things I didn’t know, and that no one tells you, that I think are practical enough to share.

If you have moved house and have your tips to share, please do! It’s too late for me, but it’ll definitely help someone else! 😀 If you plan to move, ask your questions and someone will find you the answers! 😀

Rare is a must-have but then rare also is the unique NARS Malacca eyeshadow

August 11, 2014 Paris B 41 Comments

I hate to tell poeple that anything is a must have, simply because I’m not  a big believer that anything is truly a must have. But now and again, something attempts to change my mind and it so happens I have come across that very one!

nars malacca mono eyeshadow

The one item I’m quite happy to tout as a “must have” is the NARS Malacca eyeshadow single. It was launched for Summer 2014 but is quite thankfully a permanent item so it’s still possible to go and get it, and the best thing is that it can quite easily transition you into Fall and Winter as well.

I’m not sure of the origins of the name, but knowing NARS’ predilection for naming their eyeshadows for places, I’m inclined to believe that Nars Malacca was named for Malacca, a state found right here in Malaysia 😀 Malacca was historically a large Sultanate in the region, and a key port on the spice route, where traders from the East and West would meet to trade in spices. Malacca was also where the first colonization of our country began, with the Portugese in 1511 for over 130 years before the Dutch and the English. It was the starting point for the growth of our country and is the most historical city we have. So, let’s just say I’m quite pleasantly surprised to see an eyeshadow with a name I can relate to. If it was intended to of course 😀

Malacca is described as a iridescent peacock shade, and in pan, looks like a blackened emerald green. It looks amazing in pan but it turns out that it is quite surprising when used.

Preview: Dior One Essential New Generation Intense Skin Purifying Booster Serum

August 8, 2014 Paris B 15 Comments

When Dior first launched their One Essential serum back in 2010, I took it for a spin and declared that I liked it. I did, I do and I used up a couple of bottles. It was one of my first experiences with a pre-serum because it was meant to be used before any other serum, to boost the efficacy of the products used.

It’s now 2014 and as will happen, this popular product has now been given a boost and given a new lease of life.

The new generation of One Essential now sits on its own, away from the Capture Totale skincare range, and it is now called the One Essential Intense Skin Purifying Booster Serum. You may also see it being called an Intense Skin Detoxifying Booster Serum because that’s what the new formula claims to do – detoxify your skin.

Blissoma Fresh Mild Rice Facial Cleanser : Lovely, Natural and Vegan!

August 6, 2014 Paris B 6 Comments

Organic skincare and I had a rough start. I was never interested in trying natural or organic skincare because I ran into problems at the start, where the products reacted badly with my hands (gave me contact dermatitis that necessitated me seeing a doctor) and turning my skin oilier than normal. I have thereafter, approached organic skincare with a caution usually reserved for radioactive products 😛

Perhaps things have changed lately, or my skin has changed, or the quality is better but there are some organic or natural skincare that I can now use and actually enjoy using. Today, I’ll show you one of them 🙂

The brand is Blissoma Solutions which hails from the USA and is locally carried by online site Brown Bag, a new online retailer of natural skincare products. They’re still small but I’m assured, are planning to increase the brands they carry.

The folks at Brown Bag sent me a couple of products to try from Blissoma Solutions, but I’ve only tested this so far – the Fresh Mild Rice Facial Cleanser. I’d run out of my morning cleanser (I use different ones in the mornings and evenings) so this arrived at the right time.

The packaging was interesting, I thought, because it came in a metal (aluminium?) bottle. Interesting, but potentially frustrating because it means you can’t see how much product is left. Perhaps this has to do with the formula of the product? Or to keep it fresh? I don’t know, but I like the product!
