Your Say: Do you prefer shopping alone or with friends or family?

May 6, 2014 Paris B 68 Comments

There was a time when I’d do my shopping after work on a weekday. The malls are quieter and there’s always something a little naughty about shopping on a weekday. A little like a forbidden fruit because week days are for work you know, not play.

These days, I hardly go to the malls anymore but last weekend on a bit of a whim, I decided to brave myself and hit the closest mall. When I managed to get parking almost immediately upon entering the car park, I knew it was going to be a good day. And it turned out it was!

shop alone

I was there to find a pair of black heels for work, and I managed to within about half an hour of looking. You know what they say right? If you find what you are looking for within an hour of browsing, it’ll be a good shopping day. It was too.

But the thing was, I was shopping alone. That allowed me to take my time or breeze through irrelevant sections of the department store as I saw fit. At the end of a good shopping day which included that said pair of shoes (at half price yo!) and some new makeup and lots of lovely groceries (yes, grocery shopping makes me VERY happy – got a problem with that? 😛 ) I found myself strolling back to the car, pretty much laden down as in the pic above and thinking about whether it was more fun to shop alone or with friends or family.

What say you?

6 shades in the RMK Kaleidoscope Nuance Color powder blend into one perfect even toned base

May 5, 2014 Paris B 6 Comments

I took a while to warm up to this powder but now that I have, I have to get this out there because I want you to have a chance to check it out or even get it, before it totally disappears. Damn these limited edition business! 😛 The reason I’m so anxious that you not miss this one is because I love it. Yes I do!

rmk kaleidiscope nuance colour powder

Apologies for the rather well-worn photo of the powder but that’s just how well used it’s been ever since I started using it. The RMK Kaleidoscope Nuance Color Powder was released with the Spring 2014 Play on Pink collection. It comes in 2 shades – 01 Translucent Beige Pink and 02 Translucent Coral Pink.

You can see images of both powders in their pristine glory in my previous post here but the one I’m enamoured with is this one 01 Translucent Beige Pink which RMK says is a finishing powder that highlights. To me however, this is just a great finishing/pressed powder that even serves double duty as a skin-evening powder that I wear on its own, which is why I like it so much! 😀

Highlights of Instagram Vol. 8: Something new, something old and slowing down

May 3, 2014 Paris B 10 Comments

instagram week 8

Hey guys!

I can’t believe it’s been a month since I did an Instagram Highlights update! There’s just been so much going on in my life lately which means I haven’t been able to focus on the blog as much as I’d like to. I managed well enough for 7 years but really, this year is kicking me black and blue! What did they say about the Year of the Horse again?!

Anyway, here are some highlights from the past month. I haven’t been able to keep up with the comments and emails but I will catch up at some point in my life. I’ve missed chatting to everyone and I will have to warn that blogging lapses will continue and may even get more frequent as work takes a decidedly hectic slant. But I’ll try my best to keep blogging and to honour my commitments even as I will slow down on accepting new ones. What this means is I’m likely to be even more active on Instagram than I already am 😀 It’s quick and easy and we all like quick and easy don’t we? So, onto the highlights!

New! NARS Artistry Brushes : 16 new brushes for precise makeup application

May 2, 2014 Paris B 26 Comments

Brushes! An obsession I’ve been gently nurturing over the years ever since I discovered just how much better my makeup can look when I use the right makeup brushes. It’s also why I decided to share my thoughts on brushes here on the blog, more often. It helps justify my purchases LOL 😛

As fate would have it, when I decided to take a little more interest in makeup brushes, 2 big brands revamped their makeup brushes! How about that for serendipity?! 😀 One of them is NARS and I’m rather surprised that we aren’t hearing a lot more about it online.

NARS Artistry Brushes – #20 Blush Brush, #42 Eyeshadow Blending Brush #40 Eyeshadow Brush, #11 Bronzing Powder Brush

The new NARS Artistry Brush collection replaces their existing brushes and there are 16 pieces in this range which consist of both natural hair and synthetic bristle brushes, depending on your needs. The matte lacquered handles and matching matte metal ferrule now look a little more luxurious as compared to their brushes before this, and I find them nicely weighted so it’s nice to hold.

I’ll just give you a quick overview for now as I haven’t been able to wash them out properly before using them (anyone else glad the water rationing has come to an end even if temporarily?!), so I’ll have more details for you to come. They’re permanent, so no rush 🙂
